  1. you run a volt higher because your alt charges much better when its cold. dense air is more so from humidity than temperature.

a cold alt charges better but a hot battery works better.

for me the only thing the heat/cold or elevation affected was my peak frequency. My score stayed the same providing I burped the correct frequency. Luckily in my explorer I was able to make a general graph plotting the temperature inside the cab of my truck vs the peak frequency and had it pretty dialed in.

At one of our big 2x competitions in 2007 i started burping at 9 am to test and get a bassline because I was trying to break 155 for the first time ever by a street vehicle in canada. But as time went on and the hours passed my score kept decreasing....this was with a solid 5-8 min between burps on 25 amp charge so the batts were perfect. Turned out the temperature kept climbing from a cold morning to over 35 degrees (100farenheit) by the time I qualified at around 2pm. And I had my score dialed in at 155.2 but it had gone slowly up one freq at a time from 47 hz all the way to 52 hz and by the time I went to burp I only managed a 154.9 because my peak had gone all the way up to 53 hz obviously.

Running the AC will cool down the interior yes but at the expense of your batt and electrical system. Not worth it IMO. Unless ur an extreme or super street competitor running your own AC unit to control cab temperature. Those guys have their temperatures and frequencies so dialed in its scary! Atleast I know the Riprock twins do...I assume others do aswell

So why doesnt a street vehicle run an a/c unit or heater to fine tune the freq :spiteful: Then get a heat gun and warm up the batt. Should yeld more conistant tests to dial in the set up ;)

  2. haha this was because of my thread wasnt it boon?

well my take on this is simple. i hear no change in my car hot or cold. so i have to rely on science.

hot air is better acoustically for decbels but worse for electrical strains

Temp is very tricky to mantaine in certian type installs. we plot or temp 3 times a year. it also depends what temp will be the loudest when you cold tune or hot tune your install. in SS classes and in some street classes the temp can play a role. Happy testing!

  3. you just need the plastic interior panel right? what year ? ex cab, crew cab? interior color? options?

pritty much the whole panel. the insert above the arm rest and near the pocket on the bottem of the door. so 2 spots on the door. more porblems now. lol. just about got hit by lightning on friday (about 20ft away) and it took out 20 grand of sutff in the house. ahh it keeps getting better.

  4. x2 :aggressive:

are you talking about a new door skin? , or the actual inside door panel?

So heres the scoop. As some know we got a flat tire last weekend on our trailer. So we book a time to bring the trailer in, since we already had the trailer hooked up we towed it over to kal tire in Crossfield ab. This was on wed. the 30th btw. After work we picked up our truck and trailer and start driving, then I smell batterie acid, and decide to pull over. After futher looking in the truck there is 2 spots on the door pannel that look like something ate it or melted it. After taking the drivers side door pannel off and seeing no wires there, i call them up and say my door pannel is screwed from you guys. They say (kal tire) to bring it in and the will have a look. So we get there today and they say they didnt do it, our fault, bla bla bla. I told them I work with wood and steel all day then I also said you guys sell batteries here as well as calcium filled tires wich all have acid that can do this, to a plastic door in my gm truck. There responce was, they didnt do any of those tires today or install any batteries.

So i just got bent over just like that. Inner pannel thats screwed.

  5. they might be brighter than stock but all the aftermarket projectors i have seen the width and distance forward sucks. also the have crazy hotspots. I have infiniti projectors on my car and i can see into both sides of the woods and they light up atleast 75 yards infront.

good info guys! well i like the looks of projectors, mabye some hids in the projectors will help. i hate have the same truck as the rest, a pet peve.

But it looks like it will have to wait for a bit. a tire company was changing the tires on the trailer and they got some sort of acid on the drivers door panel. yea go figure, so it looks like i'm out $680 to replace the door panel :censored:

  6. rip rock showed up from canada. what did they hit?

We hit a 176.0db to win nationals and got owned in the worlds to Mikko, came in second. The funny thing is that a week before we weren`t even going to go because of our #`s at home were low. 3 dashes and 2 center councils later we loaded it up and said it`s going to hit what it hit`s, we will just bring it and get 3rd, haha and we won lol. After 7 years all of our hard work payed off for us. It was nice to see Rusty and Ana do good aswell. After last years heartbreak for them it was good to see them take nationals too in street A.
