I'm looking to get my windows tinted this week (35% all around as law permits, won't pass inspection otherwise) and I want to get it done well. There's a local car audio place that does it and there's a few other shops and I don't really know which one to go to. If anyone has had a good job done ANYWHERE in North Carolina, let me know. I live in Concord but can drive elsewhere as long as the place does a good job.

from either the amplifier OR head unit outputs, wire to the INPUT of the crossover.
wire the mid to WF
wire the tweeter to TW. you can choose flat output, or attenuated output. wire the neg to the - terminal, and the + to either the 0dB or -3dB terminal, depending on YOUR preference. Try both
Alright what's the difference between flat/attenuated output?

Alright, looks like I was right about the ring terminals being bad. I fixed those and everything works properly now, but now I have another problem. I have no idea how to wire the speakers to my Hifonics amp OR the head unit (which should I do?) with the crossover. Here is the cross over:

Can someone draw me up a quick diagram on how to do it with the amp? Also without? I would love you guys forever.

I'm trying it now..I think the ring terminals might be bad but I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks a shit ton for the help so far, this is just really frustrating.

I just wired everything the same again except using 14 guage primary wire from lowes..maybe this is the reason. Any thoughts?

The radio worked when I touched the wires directly to the battery. Where should I hook up the ignition wire or do I have to hook it up to a fuse? And if so which fuses should I try?

Basically I've been having problems wiring my head unit in the past because the factory harness was cut out of my car and I can't figure out how to get power to the head unit or the ignition wired. I just bought some Crescendo 6.5's and tweeters with a crossover and have no idea how to wire everything.
I then called up my local car audio store and told him I had 2 crescendo mids and 2 tweeters with a crossover plus a Hifonics 4 channel amp..he said that the amp is unnecessary and went on about something about the High Pass/Mid Pass/Low Pass and I would only have High Pass if I use that amp. If I connected all the speakers to the head unit, then I would have High, Mid, and Low pass. What should I do in this case? I mounted all the speakers and have wires running into the cabin, and the car audio store said they would wire the head unit to the speakers Monday for $60 but I want to do it myself and by tomorrow. Any suggestions? Maybe someone could give me their number and could walk me through this shit hahaha..thanks.
I had this issue several times when i first started car audio. Here is the simplest thing in my opinion. The red wire goes from the radio to the positive side of the battery. The yellow wire will go from the radio, to a switch, then to the positive side of the battery. If you think you will have an issue with leaving the radio on when you get out, then wire it to a fuse that cuts off with the car. But I like the switch b/c if you go to a car show, or a parking lot, you can leave the radio on without leaving your keys in your car. Then lastly, run the black wire from the radio to a ground in the car, or the negative side of the battery. One more FYI tidbit, do not run the wires through the door jams. Drill a hole in the firewall, then run the wires through the hole. Make sure you use a grommet on the hole, or cover the wires in split loom. Here is a diagram that might help you out.
you got that backward....yellow is constant, red is switched.
@OP - what kind of car...year, model, make, trim level...I'll tell you exactly which wires you need to use. If you can't find a constant signal the fuse is probably blown (this happens when thieves cut the ground and power at the same time)
2002 VW GTI 1.8T I don't know what trim level is though, sorry. The constant on the radio is a yellow wire, so does that go to the battery? I ran the constant to battery, ignition to fuse box, and ground to negative on the battery.
-
I tried wiring it a variety of different ways. I wired the yellow (constant 12v) wire from the radio directly to the battery, the negative black ground wire from the radio directly to the negative on the battery, and I wired the ignition wire(red) to the fuse box using a fuse tap - I used 14gauge wire for all of this. It still is not turning on with those wires ran. Do i need to change the ignition wiring from the stereo and/or do something with the other wires? Also, none of the speaker wires are wired to the radio, this shouldn't affect it right? And I also do not have the orange illumination wire hooked up to anything, does it need to be hooked up to anything. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

What he is saying makes no sense to me. If you are running the components with their crossover it is going to filter the music just like the built in crossover of the amp would. Just hook it up, set the crossover on the amp to full and let the component crossover do its job. As far as hooking up the power. Get a test light or a multimeter and find two fuses in your fuse box to wire them too. The 12 volt should have constant power and the acc should turn off when the car is switched off. Simple as that. Try running the constant to your brake light fuse and your acc to the radio fuse. Should be good to go.
Alright, I'm gonna mess around with it tonight and see what I can get. What wires do I run to the fuses though? And my old head unit only went to one fuse, not two hm. Btw thanks for your help! Preciate it.

115 bucks a piece man i need to get smaller wheels.
Uhm what?
He's saying that's cheap. Obviously larger wheels would cost more...my 24s were $745 per wheel no tire before shipping to Alaska...lol.
I say #1. The ugliness is not worth the cheap price
LMFAO damn that's so much..
-
I would say numba 1. But id try and find something with no lip at all. Ill look for somethin to give yea an idea.
what size? 17 or 18?
17. And I really like the chrome lip, it really gives it a nice touch imo. If it's black then at a glance it looks just like a spare tire.

I'm getting some rims soon, and I've narrowed it down to two of my favorites. If you have any other suggestions, feel free to post a link
They will be going on my 2002 VW GTI:
Now the rims I've narrowed it down two are both glossy black with a chrome lip.
#1:
#2:
Now a few things to consider. #2 are only $81 a piece as opposed to #1 being $115 a piece. Also, if I got #2 I would need to get my calipers painted red and my brakes are pretty rusty. Going off of that, which should I get?

Would this work well with two crescendo mids (6.5's) and two crescendo tweeters (all front door)? PM me a response please.
-
I'm looking for a 4 channel amp that would work the Crescendo Audio's CCX65 6.5's package that has two mids and two tweeters (all going in front door) or just a 2 channel amp that would work with those speakers. PM me for faster response.

no im not selling anything.

I'm looking for a Crescendo 1000C4 4 channel amplifier or something similar that will work with the Crescendo CCX 6.5's. Also I'm looking for some Crescendo CCX 6.5's or something of equal to greater value (but around same price range). Thanks!

Because your statements contradict what you're saying you're saying. Reread your statements please.
And if you think most people upgrade so they can't hear the music you have NO idea what it is to be a basshead, audiophile, bass junky or whatever you want to call it. The bass line can bring the music to life. It's not so you can't hear music...blah
I was saying it's not my priority, but it is still something worth consideration. I never said that people upgrade to not hear the music? What the hell is the point of listening to straight up bass with no tunes?
Please reread your own posts. What you're saying you're saying isn't what you're saying. So what you're saying is that what you're saying isn't what you mean
Gotcha. Now have any advice on what I should do?
-
i would pick up the crescendo 4ch since your running all crescendo mids and tweets. its been proven to be a great amp
It's really pushing my budget, but if I only had 2 mids and 2 highs vs two total ccx65 packages (4 mids and 4 tweeters) would it be much of a sound difference?

wait why do you want your bass to overpower the speakers? unless you typed it wrong.
I meant that the reason I'm buying them is to just have some overall loud speakers. My number one priority isn't being able to hear the music over the bass as is the reason most people purchase aftermarket stereos.
so if im reading this right you just want to hear bass and no vocals. whats the point of having a stereo then if im reading this correctly?
No? I'm saying the exact opposite. I'm wanting loud mids and highs right now and getting an 8" sub later down the road. I don't know why you're assuming the opposite.

I'm planning on getting 4 Crescendo mids and 2 Crescendo tweeters (two CCX65 packages). That would be $200 total, now my question is what would be the best budget amp to buy to power these? I'm looking to spend less than $150 if possible, but I don't have any subwoofers and I'm just looking for some decent quality/loud speakers in my car. These are NOT to be louder than the bass, I just need a decent amp to power those instead of a head unit. What would you guys recommend? Remember, the cheaper = the better (as long as it's not a POS)
