Didn't you just finish this build no more than a week or 2 ago? o.0
-
No worries. A different way you would like to be contacted, or shall I wait?
-
Jacob, Check your email. An Sa-12 Must be mine.

Hell of a deal. And Dont worry about it being 2k watts, you can always set your gains just a little lower.
Same price as the AP1500d and a much better amp.

Ya, wayne rips a lot of shit off but I'm not gonna say for a second I don't like some it.
-
Ha ha. That's great.

Man if you ever come to So Cal I'd let you use mine..
Oh boy, you don't even know how much I want to move to somewhere like that. Not planning on making any road trips out there any time soon though.

When i first looked at this, and skimmed through, I thought to myself, "You know what we be awesome, if I just picked my favorite ones out of all these and posted them bellow". As I started getting down the list, I realized that they all fit me so perfectly I just couldn't pick between them all.
Hilarious stuff. Great find.

big 3 means
1.u run a wire from alt + to battery +, u can fuse this or not but depending on wire lingth i always fuse mine, u can also keep stock alt wire intact too to help out a lil better
2. run wire from battery neg to chassis ground
3. run wire from somewhere on engine or where factory ground is located and run a wire from there to chassis
Great chassis ground is on the strut tower.

So, does he need to buy a converter out? Or just try switching the wires? Sorry if these are stupid questions. Ha
Logan
Na, if his amp has high level inputs he doesn't need one.
A quick test to see if polarity (phase) is the problem is simply hook ONE of the INPUTS into the amp up the opposite way it is hooked up now. If it fixes the problem then that IS the problem. The only thing left at that point would be figuring out which one was wrong, and making sure they are both correct. If they are both wrong, the sub will play fine but then the sub will be out of phase with the rest of the system. It won't be terribly noticeable but it will make a difference.
Alright, awesome. Thanks for the help guys. If I have some more questions after I take a look tomorrow, I'll let you guys know.

that sucks man, hence why i wire everything in my car myself, that way you know exactly whats been done and if stuff like this happens you can quickly fix it (not that it should go wrong if you know what your doing)
But yeah, i agree with other comments, redo it all, and any questions, just ask the guys on here. ive always found them to be REAL helpful
Ya, everyone on here seems to be real helpful. Well, Mostly everyone..
And I would rather not redo it all, as it seems with just a few touches it could work. But, if it does come down to it, i'll just wire it up to the head, as that would hopefully eliminate all the problems were having.

I found this very helpful. -
Those assumptions are both correct. And the amp has a high level input.
And Ok, that makes sense, but it amazes me that it even would have worked in the first place if they were hooked up wrong.
I did the same thing in my car when using a line-out converter (which changes the signal into a low level RCA type signal). The wiring guide I was using was wrong and I wired one side backwards. My sub sounded very quiet most of the time, but every once in a while they would play a loud note. Why is WAY beyond me, I just notice one day when I put the balance to one side that all of the sudden my sub was loud. Pulled the converter out, switched the incorrect side around and all was good.
So, does he need to buy a converter out? Or just try switching the wires? Sorry if these are stupid questions. Ha

My money is on one side being out of phase (assuming a line-out converter). The first time I hooked my stuff up, one side was out of phase (factory HU, line-out, and the wiring diagram for my car was wrong). On a few frequencies it sounded great, most of the time it was very quiet. Also, using balance to cut out one side will make it louder since it is in phase again. Try switching just one side, even if they both end up out of phase with the rest of the system, and see if the bass works then.
As for your power issue, just check connections and fuses.
Most of that went over my head. How do you change the phase?
I am going on a couple assumptions here so let me know if I am wrong about anything.
First, you have a 2 channel amp that is bridged to your sub
You are either using a line-out converter OR your amp has high level inputs.
When I say phase (polarity) I mean whether the + and - is hooked up correctly. When the guy used the rear speakers to get a signal, he probably hooked the + and - of ONE side up incorrectly.
Feel free to add some pictures of how he wired the rear speakers if you can.
Those assumptions are both correct. And the amp has a high level input.
And Ok, that makes sense, but it amazes me that it even would have worked in the first place if they were hooked up wrong.

Bump, Anyone in Colorado have one of these? I got a few bucks to pay you for the troubles.

Holy cow. 48, Jesus, I nearly went deaf from listening to that on my stock computer speakers... Ha

why would e have to tap into the rear speakers? anyway, if i were you, i would take it all out and redo it myself. if you need any help or dont know how then just ask and we will help you out. with that little power, it is very simple to do. also does he have a stock HU or aftermarket?
He tapped into the rear ones because he couldn't get the head unit out because he didn't have the tool to do it. And it's the stock one in a 2000 mustang.
-
That happened to me... When i installed a system a while back i didnt know the stock Rear speaker cables on the HU. So everytime it got to a crtain level it would cut off and act funny. and i found out i put the wrong wire in the LOC so make sure the LOC is correct
Anyone have a diagram of what it should look like? I'll check it out tomorrow.
-
probably clipped those crappy things to death
Possibly, But I don't think thats the case here.
-
First off guys, clue me in on what a line in and out converter is? New to this.
is it hooked to a Line out converter? that could be the reason it sounds louder on the fader.
check your ground, fuse, connection of the LOC, inputs at the amp, remote wire, RCAs...thats just the short list to start checking into
If it is hooked to the Line out conv then that would be the reason, or because it's not?
And yea, I'll check it tomorrow when he brings it over.

One of those bad boys.
=$392.
This setup would be louder than you think and it will stay in your price range.
