The 270sp has NO PROBLEM putting out 180 at idle. Can you tell me what vehicle you have please? Year, make model and engine please. Yellow tops typically are a poor battery all together and should be replaced with an odyssey or xs power in my opinion.

The alt, plus 2 XS D3100 should be more than enough...

Id get rid of your current rear batteries and put the biggest one you can fit up front, then one XS D3100 in the rear should do it, but for that kind of amperage draw, you may want two. You may want to consider new amps though too...I think the SD 12k has a max amperage draw of 1000 amps...yours doesnt put out near half as much power as that but is over half the amperage draw?

Does this happen when driving around? The alternator puts out about 180 at idle, so if you aren't giving it the beans a bit then you won't be getting your full 270 out of it. Also, check your alternator, is there any black soot around the pulley on it? your belt could be slipping.

IIRC these amps can pull like 600 amps of current each...not very efficient amps. 4k watts is no joke, but your electrical should probably keep up...id say your problem is amp efficiency mainly.
I know the amps are not very efficient,but F&*k. So how much electrical do one needs.. I was planning on running two of the Amps, at .67 each I'm going to need a lot more electrical.

Ok, I got a DC power 270sp with a yellow top up front. Big 3 done in 1/0 Two runs of + and two runs of - to back batts. (Two 9a31 and one hc2000) two grounds in back. two runs of + & - 1/0 going to the amp. ( Memphis MoJo 4kw old model) Volts drop to high 11's low 12's..... What the "f" is I doing wrong??? PLZ HELP

Hey man, just go to your local bass pro shop and get some deep cycle marine batts if you're gonna upgrade, mines a 60ah 1200cca model, got it for $115, but dont bother buying shit unless your electrical system can charge the battery stage no questions asked, thats the reason most batts go out, people cant keep them properly charged, i have 2 CS130s on my deep cycle and it still isnt jenough at full tilt (on a super clean 600w amp, given)what are the cs130s ?
