Any more tips on if I can use wood or metal to fill in the hole?

Thanks for the fast replies! I might not be able to find a piece of plastic thin enough use, what about a piece of metal or wood?

I'm planning on painting this bezel later and i want to shave the ash try. What is the best way to brace the open area? Should I use another piece of plastic to fill in the hole? Glue it or use a plastic welder? Or should I use fiberglass mat? I've done a little bit of fiberglass but not much. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the help! I would like to use the lip if possible, but I can easily remove that and flush mount the filler piece and brace it from the backside.
I've used some 3M panel bond for plastic, so I'm sure I could use that which would help with flexing. I hope to get started soon! Thanks
