  1. My guess would be you need more electrical, I had multiple people recommend me 3 d3100s plus a 300 amp alt for a single dc3.5k at .5

I have called DC as well has a few other places and apparently there is nothing over a 250amp alt available for my car. Also there is no bracket available for a dual alt setup. I might buy another alt anyway and try to frabricate something that will work.
  2. That sounds about normal.... The next step would be to get a amperage draw test on each battery and see if they are on the verge of dying.

How may runs of 0ga do you have going from the front to the back?

In all honesty I only have 1 run... I was told that as long as I have high grade wiring that I would only need 1 run with this application. This thought has been lingering in the back of my head and might have been a mistake.
  3. I am starting to have issues with my setup for the first time... My voltage has always been ok and has never dropped below 13.6. I have been able to play full tilt while driving for a while but now I am dropping to the low 12's/high 11's and when I get to that point my amp shuts off. I have my bass knob set to less than half and I have a charger hooked up to my batts pretty much every night. Can someone point me in the right direction please? Let me know if any other info is needed...

    Batts - 3 XSPOWER 3400's in back, 1 XSPOWER 3400 up front

    ALT - DC power 250AMP

  4. I have no quality input but I did just wanna say that is a clean ass box! The knockoffs does it justice. I been seeing ALOT of guys bringing the knockoff game back in! Cudos man! Looks lovely and good luck on the build!

Thanks, I appreciate it... In chicago, all you see are donks  but I get many more looks with something much simpler... go figure.

  5. Also... pics of car?

Hoping it aint all donk

No, I'm not a donk kind of guy... I am saving pics for my build log at the moment but I can't see any harm in giving a preview... Mind you these are pics of when I JUST put the rims and tires on and was testing out fitment. RIMS missing center caps in these pics and now have Caprice centers. Complete build log comming soon.

  6. So, I am thinking of going a different direction with my build and I am in need of a second HO ALT... I purchased the one I currently have installed from DC Power. I emailed them today and they responded with "At the moment we do not offer a dual kit for a 5.0 GM, it's possible that we may have them available at a later time but for now we do not have them."

Is there anyone with my GEN vehicle using dual ALTS? Do I have any other options?

    1988 Chevy Caprice Classic - 5.0 V8

    Current setup -

    DC Power 250 amp ALT

    1 XS Power 3400 - up front

4 XS Power 3400's in back

    1 Sundown SAZ-4500D

    Big 3

Looking to add another 4500D and more batts but without the ALT I am thinking otherwise. This is a Summer only car but I drive it quite a bit.... This is not for a Competition application.

  7. Charge them up. Charge them up. and then Charge them up. As soon as possible. Sitting for 8 months if they haven't been charged I can almost promise you they are sitting below 12.6V.

Honestly it depends on how you have the system set up and how you are going to be using it. For a daily driver application you may be able to run off of the batteries you currently have. If you are going to be competing or doing a lot of demos (bass boosted and slowed), then you will probably want to add a couple more 3400s. Might as well try it out first though before you buy more batteries. Oh and charge the batteries up.

If you need a good charger I have a couple 1005 chargers I can make you a good deal on.

This is going to be a daily driver. Please pm me a price on the charger shipped to 60707. Thanks for the info

  8. I bought 2 BNIB D3400's from a good friend of mine. He's having some financial trouble so I took them off his hands for a good price. I need to know how many batts I need to run for my current setup. BTW he told me that they have been sitting for a good 8 months. What should I do before I attempt to have them installed?

    1 DC Power 240amp alt

    1 Sundown 4500D

    1 Sundown 100D

    Thanks in advance.

  9. You guys really got me thinking now... Good god.

Here are some pics on what my trunk looks like and also with 4 15's in it. Not DC or NS but you get the idea. BTW there is still a bunch of room beneath the rear deck area in the pic with the subs. This is not what I am going to be doing but it gives you a idea on what 4 15's look like installed

  10. Hmm... its cone area vs motor force. Its a tough one.

Are you sure either setup will fit in the trunk? I understand that the trunk is big, but still.. Have you played with Torres?

The 18s should like a smaller box. Jacob posted that the 18s like 4-5 cubes each.

    Edit: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/44977-enclosure-sizes-for-all-the-series-of-woofers/

At first, Jacob suggested I do 8 SA-12's. :trippy:
