  1. Like the title says, whats the 'best' low-end brand? like sony, crunch, mtx, dual and brands like that? My friend has 2 sony xplods powered by an xplod amp in his trunk that sounds good and gets pretty loud and on the plus theyre cheap. Ive never heard a 'real' system so that is one of the reasons they sound so good to me and i was thinking about getting some xplods because they sound good and theyre cheap. I just want some input on the lower end brands. Thank You.

Also i would like your guys' opinion on this: Go the cheap route and get an xplod system or buy one aq sdc2.5 12 sub and a 1200d amp and then just save up for the other sub later.

  2. Ive thought about making my own box but im to afraid im going to mess up lol thats why I want somebody with a lot more skill than me to do it lol

Don't worry about messin up man, it's not that difficult. There are plenty of people willing to help design boxes on the forums and then you can go to YouTube to learn techniques on how to construct it. Plus if you attempt it yourself you can really learn alot in the process and then have pride in your system.

Plus im only 16 and dont have any tools required for a box build

  3. if there was an aftermarket headunit in the car previously leave the harness that was in there alone. Then take the red from your harness and connect it to the wire connected to the red on the previous head unit. Thats what ray meant. now thats provided the previous one worked perfectly.

The old one worked fine it just didn't turn off, you hand to take off the face plate for it to turn off. And that's what I was thinking but the previous owner had like a red and a green connected to one wire of a differnet color comming from the dash. I have two pictures of what I'm talking about but I don't know how to upload them from my phone. I tried uploading them from my computer but this website opens really slow and I can't even open a thread.

  4. Yeah im pretty sure thats what the problem is. The harness from the radio is taped to the wires from the dash with electrical tape. My question is could I just take off the electrical tape from the wires and then cut of the harness from the radio then just do the same exact thing they did with crimping the wires from the dash with the radios harness?

Yeah you could do that if yiu have no other choice sure

We would but his stuff is all messed up like the harness from the radio is connected to the dash by electrical tape like I said and we noticed today that they wired it wrong I think. Like they have green and red from the radio connected to like white from the dash its really weird so I'm lost because I have no experince with installing anything car audio. I don't know how we would wire it

  6. i have had this problem befor, my fix was a trip to the junk yard . i found same year and model car as mine and cliped the harness back as far as possible, matched up my wires soldered them and threw some heat shrinks on them, hope that helps you out.

Yeah I know what youre saying but i dont know of any junk yards around my area and i have no idea on how to use a soldering gun

  7. Okay so today me and a friend went up to bestbuy to buy a new radio for his car. So we took it home and got to installing it and figured out we needed a wiring harness for a 96 Honda Prelude so we went back up to bestbuy and bought the right one but when we got back home it didnt fit into the wiring in the dash so we were kinda stumped and didnt know what to do. He bought the car and it came with an aftermarket stereo but it didnt have the aux jack so that was the purpose of the new radio. When we took out the radio the harness from the dash fit perfectly into the radio it previously had in the car so what i was thinking is that the people who owned the car before him installed the radio without a wiring harness and they just cut off the connector and just used electrical tape which the wires had on it to connect the wires from the radio to the wires from the dash. After all that we went up to Advance auto parts to get some crimpers and ask for a little advice and a guy said up there that we should just hard wire all the wires just like the previous owner did because it would be really hard to find the right connector or whatever to fit into the one that was in the dash. I need some advice on what to do. Thank you

The car is a 96 Honda Prelude

The radio is a Pioneer 1300

Edit: I can get pictures of what im talking about tomorrow if needed.
