I would double baffle it 4 sure. Then you’re good. 18”s can really flex a sheet of wood when they get moving.
yeah i planned on double baffel and planned on bracing it but cant really figure out what to use. Allthread sounds good but it wont look too good coming out the top and sides. I also thought about using som 1x2 and making a H shape and putting that on the big open walls.

right on thanks man, so 3/4 wont do any ungodly flexing on a sheet the 40x28?

Ok here are a coulple of pictures of what i have planned for my 18 build. I also have a few questions. One of those questions is where the sub is going to be mounted i have 19.5 inches to mount the 18, will this mount or will the screw pattern hang over this amount. basically i dont know if the basket is "18" inches or what ever it is. Pretty much just looking for comments from box builders and people who know if this enclosure will fit the sub and sound good. Any ideas or critisism is encouraged. I used the RE box builder.
Thanks

ohh if it makes any difference, its a grand cherokee limited.

Thats just it never owned an FI product. Ive heard that they are sturdy, just dont know what they can really take. What amp were u using? I just want to be able to play it daily for about 45 min at a time, without it prematurely crappin out on me.
-
well i just got a 04 jeep cherokee. planned on a 6 to 7.5 cube box to 32hz. on 1500rms
-
well anyone on this i know someone on here knows so how bout it, Would like an answer soon have money to burn! Any personal experiences

Ok ive used the search and cant find what im lookin for. I am in the market for a 18 FI. I want the Q for its ability to sound good and get low, but I have a Kicker zx1500.1, Kinetik 800 audio control linedriver and a kicker 2 way active cross over. My concern is That 1500 rms on a daily aplication in a close to 6 cube box might not agree with a Q. So if i go the BL route i understand it wont sound as good, but can it get as low. I like the lows that make your steering wheel bounce. Thanks !
-
yes i have compared and do like the prices, but in the mean time would 2 15's gel loud off of 1500rms??
-
thanks so these options would be more beneficial than a BL 18 and 1500rms

well couple things you need to look at first before you make a decision.
1. how much airspace you have to work with
2. and how to get the most cone area for the least amount of money
i have done a couple of DC installs myself and i am also running DC in my own vehicle because you can't beat the price for what you are getting, sound quality and loudness. I used to have RE before i switched over to DC and let me tell you it was worth it. Not only less expensive but also got louder.
let me know what you have to work with and maybe i can recommend some subs for you.
well truth be told i dont have the vehichle yet but hopefully next week. im getting a 01 to 04 Ford Escape. but the plan is to a either fold the seat of b make a setup were the back seats are gone but the amp rack can easily be taken out so i can take trips in it. not to sure on the dimensions but i believe they say it has 36 feet of volume in cargo. and at this moment only running with a ZX 1500.1 but by end of this summer upgrading to 2500.1

theres another thread about this use the search man
this same compairison and same wattage issues???????? and i was told by another forum that this would be the place to go cuz "everyone" here know DC just lookin for answers man, ill search but im sure i wont find exactly what im lookin for hence me asking!

I've reached a dilema. I was dead set on an 18" bl. but have stumbled upon DC and their amazing prices. First question is who has experience with them and what is your unbiased opinion. So my other is which would i have more output and sq. Im not looking for total sq just somthin thats super loud but doesnt make me mad to listen to stuff cuz it sounds like doo doo. 2 15" DC lvl4 1000rms vs 1 18" FI bl 1000rms .???? which one, also 1 18" FI bl vs 3 15" DC lvl 3 600rms . Keeping in mind that all of these setups are gonna be ran with the big three 1/0 wiring a yellow top under the hood a kinetik 800 in the back and a Kicker zx 1500.1 with a lindriver infront of it. arghh desicions. whats your guys opinion never heard dc but have heard 2 15 FI q on a saz 3000 with a friggin 80amp fuse
please help. sorry for such a long post just frigging confused.

i was just wondering what kind of amps you guys would recomend for running two 15" FI bl with the cooling upgrade, 2 ohm, and the daily option. i keep hearing sundow but damn thats money to get two of them. i plan on beatin the sh@t out of them on a daily basis. So if u suggest a pricey amp then ill get one it want them to sound good and last.
Thank you all.

can you get vids, I want some of these badly if they're any good
right now i cant get a vid cuz im pretty lame and dont have a cam. but i might be able to get one of my friends to tape it for me. it seriously is pretty loud. i turned the amp up a bit more last night it made a world of difference. they have me sold. im considering around tax check time getting 2 more and stackin em. i can get em for 100 a piece. look around dont pay 179. you can find a better deal
-
glad you like man. cut the hz down to about 50 and turn the gain down just a little bit more and turn that bass boost up some. how many CVT's do you have anyways and what size?
ive got two of the 12"s . hopefully by this summer ill be able to put one more in with a custom enclosure. they sound pretty nasty.
-
well got the cvts installed, and ill have to say they sound pretty good. never heard slim subs before but i think they sound just as good as a normal one. im kind of breaking them in right know. i ve got my 750.1 with the hrz at about 80 the gain a little less than half and the bass boost at 0! completely impressed so far cant wait to turn it up.
-
Kicker amps are only rated for 2ohm loads.
actually one of kickers sx models can be wired to 1 ohm
-
well, that amp is perfect for those subs, thats the setup they recommend along with the dual cvr setup and 750...i would say a ported box should be MADE for these, prefab truck boxes arent what ur lookin for if u want loud bass, get a box made, even if it is sealed
it would be awsome if some one could point me in the direction of a decent company thats not too expensive. also wouldnt i need more cubic space. the way it is now ive got the two boxes laying on their sides so it fits perfectly behind the passenger seat and the edge of the box closest to me pushes against the side of my seat and kind of holds it stable. thats how tight a fit it is. cant stand one of the boxes behind me im way to close to the wheel, not wanting to sacrafice comfort.
-
lame
yeah got the two 4 ohms today and in all seriousness they are probably 2 twice as loud ive got the gain less than half way the hrz to about 80 and the bass boost on 0 to break them in for a few days. the way they stand i am impressed by what these shallow ones can do. ill let you know in a few days what they can really do.
-
he means whats the impedence? like dual 4 ohms...or whatever it is??
sorry pretty much in the dark about subs. its a ive got 2 ohm subs right now wired in a parellel so not getting much power to them going today to pick up the 4 ohm ones.
