From what I've kind of gathered... Don't quote me on it because it's not exact... But I'd guestimate a cap of 6 2.5v super caps is about equivalent to a d3100. I seen taylorfade run a zero.5 @ 1 ohm on stock electrical and 2 super cap banks with nearly no drop... Since a bank is still a bank, moving up to 16v you shouldn't lose a lot of capacitance should you? since the 2.7v ones are 3000f you should likely GAIN capacitance. Right? Idc either way. I'm doing caps either way. Was just wondering how it is as an alternative to a ton of 16v batteries for everyone else.

I'll be running 2 B2 zero.5's on cap banks with a singer 16v and 12v alt so I'm in for info.
-
Sssooo.... Everyone talking about capacity... Let's throw this out there...What about 16v on super cap banks?
-
Idk if it's been mentioned but what's the "string test"?
-
I can't really copy/paste sounds, but I can copy/paste on here.
-
Because you're doing it wrong?
-

Remember... big 3 is an upgrade, not a replacement. keep old wires. just add on.
-
Big three completion with 0 awg and biggest wire your amp will take. As well as all good connections. 2nd batt then IMO.
-
So is it still a good idea to use the supercaps if I'm going to do mostly daily/bass boxing?
-
-
What benefit will capacitors have when I'm running that much power?
-
what's benefit of it on high power like that?
-
I thought caps were pretty much pointless after 1-2kwrms.
-
Caps? Really?

I'm trying to stay in the 0-1000 modified class. Already have 1 zero.5. Was debating switching to CT 2500's or getting another .5.
-
I tried messaging you ages ago about it, because I know you're pretty experienced with the .5but never got a reply. What kind of real power would I see from it at .5 ohms?
-
I have quite a bit of experience with the board in the CT2.5's. 4k burps (clamp method) on batts if you keep rise to under 1.5 or so is about the best you can hope for.
That's still 8k though. I'd want at least (3) solid G31's for that. But depending on your listening/demo'ing habits, I bet you could get by with a 3400 underhood and a pair of 3100 or 3000's in the back.
So... b2 zero.5 would likely put out more?
-
there is a lot that comes in to play.
will you be at full tilt at all times? if so then you will need more bat.
If you are not going to be at full tilt then their will be time for the alt to charge after each cycle or bass line.
Email XS power your specs and tell them what your doing and they will get back to you with the info you need
Likely, no. Mostly 30-second runs.

Oh my god....
......?
-
I realize I won't see 10k but I'd like my electrical to be up to par with the best possible situation. That way I know it'll be solid.
-
ooorrrrr not....

So in the very near future, I will upgrading to 2 CT-Sounds 2500.1's (3900w @ 1 @ 14.4v). The pair will be strapped at 1 (.5 each) so I should realistically be seeing... 10k rms or so. I went on the XS site and used the calculator.... but it seems a bit off. I will have a yellow-top up front (Which I might upgrade to a d3400 as well) and a 240a alt.... The calculator only says to use (2) D3100s... Doesn't that seem a bit low? i was thinking I'd need 3 or 4.... Or was thinking 6 XP950s... Any insight on if it's correct/If it's enough, and benefit of going with a d3100 over a few xp950's or vice-versa?

Not if you have a......MAGIC CARPETIt is kinda IMPOSSIBLE to fix a problem if the alternator hasn't made it here. The problem with the alternator was an honest mistake Reed but I'm certain that you sir have NEVER made one

Worth it to run 16v on my 5ks?

I also heard that caps alone > batteries for competition by far. but mixing caps and batts yields little to no gains from just batteries.
