its definitely worth a call to each of these guys. No one made an alt for my car (very awkward placement not much room) but all three of them worked with me and came up with a design for me at a very reasonable price. Three great companies here but I ended up going with mechman if it matters.

the dd-1 is not a power to speaker matching device. It only lets you know if the signal is clipped or distorted. If you use a dd-1 on 5000watt amp and then power a door speaker with it its still going to rip itself apart.
You still have the possibility of blowing your speakers after using a DD-1 by over powering. Its just now you would be over powering with a clean signal.

well shit lol
btw as far as i know you arent supposed to post DC prices so you might want to edit that post a bit. (i dont really care but others will)
-
Haha only way to stop being an install noob is to start trying things first hand! Just sayin'
But seriously, you'll be happy with either the DCs or the DDs. For your application as a daily driver on that power you probably wont see much of a difference between the two. IMO go with which ever you can get for less

Agreed ^ if you watch the voltage and dont play it to the point where you are dropping it too low there is no reason you can't run the set up you have described. You will probably not be able to get full power from the amp but if you watch the voltage you will be fine. I was running my 3500 off a 220amp alt and d2700. I would get voltage drop but i just had to watch it and be careful

smaller port area can give you more cone control but there are alot of other factors that go into determining that as well

What shop did you buy your stuff from? Where are you in washington? I might be able to help you out or recommend a shop to go to depending...
Just guessing this might take more help than what we can give you online

dont worry about it, its not going to happen

dont worry about breaking it in just start playing it

The best way to get solid midbass from the 6.5s is going to be in your enclosure. It sounds like you are using the doors as the enclosures so the more solid and sealed you can make those doors the better low end response youll be able to get.
I run my system off an alpine 9887 right now. I used to use imprint and I liked it. However, after using the capabilities of the unit myself (time alignment, crossover settings etc) I was able to get what was a better sound to me. After listening to the Imprint settings again it sounded like it tried to do too much and alot of the sound was lost. The EQ on the imprint is probably its main advantage with 500+ bands or whatever but if you have decent equipment and a solid install you shouldn't need that much EQ anyways. SO I would suggest avoiding the Imprint and getting a unit that will allow you to do that stuff manually instead.
Also, once you go active you will never go back to passive!
Good luck

seems like a nice llt would do the same thing except shake the whole room/house instead of just the couch...but yeah hard to follow without pictures

^that is unless he wants to be able to adjust sub level through the headunit right? In that case he should set it to whatever max he will put it at and then he can know he is safe at that point but not above...

pm someone about price but everyone will tell you the amps are great more or less on the same level as all the sundowns, audioques, crescendos, etc that are out there
-
i run an MB quart Q4.80 and it works perfectly. In addition to sounding very clean and clear with great crossover ability, it is at a great price. One channel of this gets my mids louder than my previous alpine amp that supposedly bridged to 100 watts on each mid. Definitely recommend. Can't comment on the mono amps tho

Looking forward to seeing this wall! I have always liked t-lines for home use but have never seen a wall designed around one...at least that i know of. Good Luck!

No one can come close to giving you an accurate answer there are just too many variables. Box size, port size and orientation, car dimensions and loading, doors/windows open or closed etc.
There is nothing inherently wrong with playing any frequency just pay attention to your system and get to know what you can play at what volume levels

We only got 4 inches or so in the U District here but classes have been canceled all week long at UW. "Snow Week 2012!"

Well guys I just bought a Sundown SAZ 3500 from DB-r and it turns out it didn't come with the remote bass knob. So that is what I am looking for now. Hit me up if you have one just sitting around that you want to sell.
Thanks!

dont take this the wrong way but my favorite part of this so far is your tires lol I love my duratracs!

damn, i was worried it was the amp. Ill be calling dbr here shortly then to see what they say, thanks SnowDrifter

did this every get resolved? I think I am having a very similar issue now...

just noticed the port length/inner box opening thing. I would just take that one inch off of the port length on the inside and then make a big roundover. Tuning will be pretty much the same and you wont be restricting air flow...hope that made sense lol

i can say your xls should be very happy with that box. It is very similar to my wall but slightly smaller in volume which should give you a bit more cone control down low which will be nice since you are running a bit more power than me. To the ear (no TL near me that i know of) it crushes everything from 25hz to the mid 50s very flat and then trails off slowly above that, you should be happy.
As everyone says though, brace the hell out of it. I would add port bracing for sure as well as another brace going side to side. My entire wall is double layered birch on all sides including the port as well as threaded rod thoughout and the box vibrates obviously but there is no flex anywhere, something to consider i guess

some screen shots might help a bit...
6th order help for 2 dc xl 15s
in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Posted · Edited by mrd6
I am guessing you barely have space in your trunk for 2 15s ported, 4th or 6th order is going to be even bigger....so why not just do regular ported?
