  1. Just wanted to say thank you for an amazing product at an amazing price!

Got my DD-1 a few weeks ago but just got around to putting it to use and the results are great! I bought this to make sure when I upgrade my amp to a Sundown 3500, I wouldn't be clipping my xls. But i figured I would throw it on the system now and see what happened. I was actually very surprised by my equipment's abilities and i would have never realized it without the DD-1! I found out that my Hifonics Titan 1508D is distortion free with the gains almost all the way up (maybe an 1/8 of a turn before maxed out) at 35/35 volume and +10 subwoofer boost on the Alpine 9887. System is way louder now...but of course has more voltage drop.

Anyways, thought I would put in a good word. Clean signals FTW :clapping:

  2. Mixing of subs aside, do a bit of research and see what options you have out there for alts. $150 is not a bad price at all if it is reliable with warranty. It is likely you may still see some dimming with that size alt depending on your battery under the hood, but it also may be a big price jump to get any larger alt than that 130 so you'll have to decide how much it is worth to you to get rid of that last bit of dimming.

You are not running that much power though so I would double check all your power and ground connections and then do the big three to see if this helps enough for you. The big three will help on its own and is necessary if you get a new alt so you should do that first either way, thats how I would do it anyways.

    good luck!

edit: i feel you on the dumb alternator placement. I just replaced mine and had to remove the front tire to get at it through the wheel well...wtf?

  3. Hi Guys,

I have been planning to buy a crescendo bc3500 for my build and would be spending about $600 for that shipped to 98105.

I am looking for approximately 3500 to 4000rms (more if the price is right lol) to power my dc xls. Subs are dual 1 ohm.

If anyone can offer me similar power for less than $600 I would be very interested!

I also have a couple things to trade (if i cannot offer trades due to my post count being less than 150, mods let me know and ill remove that, I checked the rules but didn't see anything about it)

    anyways things to trade:

    -2 Re audio SEx 15s

-pioneer DEH-P3100Ub head unit with ipod cable (never use still in box opened once to look at it)

-Garmin Nuvi 255wt GPS (still in box never opened) has lifetime traffic, works in canada and all that stuff

    Thanks!

Also looking for batteries for a good price

  4. oh okay interesting. Good info guys. It would be nice to find someone in the Seattle area who runs PA stuff in their car in a sq orientation but its pretty hard to find anything half way decent car audio wise here these days.

    Haha know anyone?

  5. good to know guys, i appreciate the responses!:drinks:

looks like i may be giving it a try here in the near future

for some reason i have this idea in my head that they will sound less natural on more laid back or acoustic music and miss some of the subtle nuances in more complex music. Would you say this is not the case?

  6. reading comments on things like these always piss me off and i almost want to sign up to straighten them out. The one that got me is where they said people who have these systems are dumb lowlifes...how does a stupid person with no money engineer, build, and afford a $20,000 sound system capable of that?

But then a think about the kind of people that actually post on yahoo news articles and i realize no matter what i say to them they will remain ignorant morons

haha sorry if any of you post on yahoo articles, no offense lol

  7. shit man theres a ton out there. The pioneer premier PRS components im running are only rated at 50rms but im running the set bridged at a rated 240watts rms now per side from an mb quart q4.80 and they are taking it like a champ sounding phenominal.

If i were you i wouldnt worry too much about rated power thermally for components assuming you dont go crazy, in my experience its the mechanical handling youll want to be careful with coming from enclosure design and crossover point.

What all are you trying to accomplish with mids and highs?

btw, love your tsns build, always wanted to do something very similar, blow people away with small subs

  8. So my question is, how do pro audio drivers and horn tweeters such as those made by selenium, eminence, the new sundowns etc. stack up sound quality wise with other speakers. I mean true sound quality, when people talk about PA drivers they always say "they get LOUD but sound really clean" or something like that but what about real tonal balance, imaging, dynamics and other important aspects needed to create an accurate sound.

Yes, A LOT of that has to do with the install, amps, enclosures, and processing and whatnot but all that aside the speakers themselves will still have their own limitations.

I am asking because my sub stage is about to get much louder and i am guessing my pioneer premier PRS component set run active on an MB quart Q4.80 and alpine 9887 HU still may not be enough to keep up. However, this set-up sounds damn good, these pioneers are comparable to the focal k2 power component set or the hertz hsk 165 in SQ.

So after the long winded explanation, what differences have you guys who have experience with both the PA speakers as well as higher end SQ drivers noticed between the two?

  9. it can work well with the right crossovers and processing. In my rebuild im worjing on now I am running 2 18" dc xls tuned to 29hz and they play with authority easily from 25 to 60 something but the sound quality isnt really where i would like it to be above mid 50ish hz so i cross them at that point and am testing boxes now to run 2 image dynamics id8s as well to pick up where the dcs leave off and then run to ~80hz where my mids pick up.

So far its sounding great, so 8s with 18s is workin for me but like everyone is saying, seperate boxes, seperate amps

  10. seems pretty likelty its just the weather...i have a stock alt still but mine does the same thing. I live in seatte so same summer temps around 80 and winter say around 40. In winter i charge at 14.8 cold and drop to maybe 14.6 warm. Right now when its hot outside im charging around 13.8 warm. Almost a whole volt drop so what you are describing doesnt seem that unreasonable
