  1. I hope this isn't considered a "vs" thread, if so I apologize.

I'll be doing 4 SA-15" in my truck and I'm trying to figure out which amp will be best for it.

I think (2) Sundown 2500.1 can handle 4 of the 15"s, 2 on each amp.

I was recommended 1 Sundown 4500.1 in a different thread but the price difference between 2 2500.1 and 1 4500.1 is minimal.

I want to stay with Sundown amps, but just trying to figure out which will work the best.

Again, I apologize if this is considered a versus thread.

    *Edit: SA-15 = dual 2*

    *EDIT*

    Instead of doing the 4 SA-15" in my truck, I'll be doing 6 SA-12" D2 on 2 Sundown 3500.1.

So will this hit even harder than the 15" due to more surface area? and those amps are capable to handle the 12"s?

The reason I'm changing the setup is because a local shop I deal with told me that they can get me a better deal if I did the 12"s. I just wanted to see if 6 12"s were still going to make me happy.

  2. Cool guys, I did it yesterday: ohms were right. I checked the ground: it wasn't sanded down so I did that.

It fixed the problem for awhile but it still started to cutout. Maybe I didn't sand it enough?

at first, I thought it was voltage drop but I never pursued on checking. I'll have to do that too

  3. Looks like I'm leaning away from the RE's; I keep hearing about them going down the drain. Hopefully the local sound shop down in New Orleans would hook me up with whatever else they got that can move air.

I told them I wanted Sundown SA15"s, they looked into it and they told me it would be pricey and never got me a price. Will 4 SA15" work on 2 RE5000.1? Or should I swap out amps as well?

  4. where is the amp grounded to

edit: is the paint sanded off where its bolted to? cause its supposed to.

Not sure, I'll check that when I take his system apart. If that's the problem, new ground should fix his problem?

Are the subs SVC or DVC?

He might be clipping the crap out of it.

Check all connections again and again.

There's SVC's. what should I be checking for? proper metal contact?

  5. I'm trying to help a friend out and see if I can fix his problem for him. He's running a JL 500x1 Slash (I think this amp is 2 ohm stable) on 2 JL W3 10" 4ohms.

He says when he plays music at about 20-23 on a JVC headunit, the bass would cut out. He goes back to check on it, the amp is burning hot on touch.

I'm thinking the ohms are wrong? 2 4 ohm JL subs on that amp should be wired to 2 ohms correct?

If it matters, this is installed in a 2005 Infiniti G35

  6. Hey guys, I have a 2011 Toyota Tundra Double Cab. I had a pretty good system before and it's time to go even better and louder.

So far, I know I'm going to need a good amount of power and I've already contacted Mechman for a 320 amp alternator and will be going with about 4 XS3100 (1 front, 3 back).

A local shop wants me to do 6 RE SXX 12", will that slam, move air, and be able to do hair tricks?

A friend of mine wants me to do 4 Sundown SA-15s; the SA would probably be a lot better but how big is the price gap?

Also, what type of wall would you recommend with 1 of these systems?

At first I wanted to do a 4th order, but the SXX's cannot be in a sealed enclosure.

I'm open to suggestions but I'm also not trying to spend a ridiculous amount of $$, like anymore than $5000.

(now I'm nervous of you guys attacking me for my budget, lol)

  7. one or two is fine because the engine bay isnt delivering all the power your amps take. a lot of it is done from the rear battery bank. you only need as much wire as the alt and front battery can supply.

definitely run your grounds front to back but an extra chassis ground is good too.

Alright cool thanks. Looks like I'm going to do that than. Would you have drilled a whole or try and shove 'em through a rubber boot that has stock wires going through them?

I appreciate all the quick responses guys.
