  1. i took some voltage readings.

    at the alternator 14.03 volts

battery under the hood car running 11.5x volts

battery in back car running 11.4x volts

battery under hood car off 12.01 volts

battery in back car off 12.00 volts

So apparently my alternator is fine.

ANY and all help is greatly appreciated

Sounds like you have a small drag somewhere. Think about it if the positive wire at the alt is 14.03 then that wire should go straight to the battery and it should read the same thing. I would start disconnecting accessories until this issue is solved.

  2. This is my favorite one from that site Finkster posted. So many people think that this is the case with alts.

    Myth

Driving a car will fully recharge a battery.

    Battery

    Truth

The alternator is not a battery charger, but rather, a battery maintainer. It is true that a lightly discharged battery may regain full charge under normal driving conditions. However, a severely discharged battery must be recharged by an auxiliary battery charger. Failure to do so may result in damage to the vehicle's alternator and/or charging system.

  3. ur suppose to touch the probes together to test the leads for resisitance.. like my OTC DMM my leads have a resistance value of .24 ohms and thats with aligator clips .. anythng over .5 ohms and ur suppose to replace the test leads.... they do break down over time from flexing bud... its like a self check

Exactly. Also you touch the leads before you measure diodes to make sure the meter is working properly.

  4. Personally I think the Gixxer is more comfortable to ride than the R6 and CBR 600. I've ridden all of them. I must admit the R6 was faster tho and handled better. I'm not a speed demon tho. I actually dropped my bike doing 45 and I spent a week in the hospital!!!!!!!!!!!! That was back in 06. I just started running again about 2 months ago. Be careful on those things because you have no protection whatsoever. I'm waiting til next season to ride again. Not sure what I'm getting tho. Like everyone else said please take the MSF. Its worth it.

Str8diesel is right tho...when it comes to downshifting and control the Gixxer isn't all that good.

I agree the SV650 is a nice starter bike. My old Chief road one for years and he wrecked the old one and the next month he went out and bought a new one.
