  1. These are hands down the best sounding "big subs" I have ever heard. I still love mine and it's fun when the haters hate... Ask Sensia ;)

how much power are you planning on throwing at them? atleast 10k?

They get loud with less than that. If you want a SPL geared sub you should be looking at Mayhems or BTLs or the like. Yea Steve throws 7k at his, Trippi did the same, and that one dude with the Tahoe did 9k each... They all share the same stigma, high 50's. If you are out for numbers you shouldn't be looking at SMDs, but if you are out for a fantastic sounding sub (even with my wimpy 3kw each) you can't go wrong. :pardon:

Yes I definatily want it to be loud, but I want it to sound great also, that's the main reason I chose the SMD!

  2. I tried grounding the RCAs, but still didn't work. Also I noticed if I unplug the RCAs from the amp the whine stops, however if I only unplug the RCAs from the deck the whine gets worse. Could my deck or amp possibly be messed up? Or is there anything else I could try?

If the whine gets WORSE when you unplug the RCAs from the HU, then your HU is completely ruled out as a cause (or at least the only cause, lol, in my battles with alt whine I've always had to fix multiple causes, but take them one at a time). Try running a new pair of RCAs over your seats from HU to amp and perform the same experiments...

    I will try this. Thanks

  3. There's so many variables that could be causing these problem.

I had this problem for awhile.

    Headunit ground?

    Change rca?

    Battery grounds?

    Speakers properly secured/ wires secured?

    Power antenna ground?

Fuel pumps could cause this sound coming from the speaker...

Yeah it's just so frustrating. I don't believe it's the fuel pump, but I will go back and check these other things when I get home from work

  4. be sure all your power and ground connections are secure and have all been sanded to bare metal before connections are made. also, have had 2 sets of rca's go bad on me in the last 3 years. Could just be the rca's. also, have you done the big 3 at all?

The power and ground are secure, and I just bought the RCAs brand new, and yes I've done the big 3. This is a head scratcher for me
