  1. Hifonics bxi what?

I'm not sure, my friend is giving it to me because he blew his 15, and has no desire to get another sub. Its older though, all black, and the Hifonics letters light up blue. my subs are dual 4 ohm so im going to wire them down to 2ohms once i get the amp.

Hate to rain on your parade but you cant take 2 d4's and get 2ohms out of them.

Try this link it might help you some. Good luck.

    12 Volt sub wiring chart

My bad, these are single voice coil subs. I'm so used to having dvc subs i always forget these are svc.

  2. Ok, I'm only putting 600wrms total so 300 a piece to my w3's. My gf already thinks that its already loud enough but its obviously not. I'm thinking of getting a hifonics amp to put the 600wrms each on them. Do you guys think its worth buying a new amp? And will it be noticeably louder?

  3. For just drawing the circle, all you need is a piece of string 1/2 the mounting diameter of the sub, and a pencil.

ok cool, i dont have a camera so ill take pics on my evo and upload them once im done. hopefully this box comes out sounding good and my subs will be able to hit some lows. if not i may have to break down and have the shop build me one.

  4. For those subs, it wouldn't hurt to do a double baffle. Cut two baffles, spread the wood glue evenly between the two, then either clam them together or put a few cinder blocks on top and let dry for 12 hours or so. I'm not so sure you'd hear a difference, but when you upgrade you can use the same enclosure...

The only problem is, the only upgrade you can do would be to other JL subs, W6v3's or w7's.

so the sub would mount flush if i did this correct? also what tool would i need to draw the circle on the wood that i would need to cut out anyways? and would i find out the measurements of the hole from the jl site?

  5. Do you have any massive clamps to squeeze the box while the glue dries? They are not completely needed. But they help and keep things square. But if you dont do alot of boxes it isnt worth it.

nah i dont have any of those, are they expensive? i have weights, or is that a bad idea? Also when assembling the box after cutting is done i should glue then screw the panels together correct? but after the glue is dried are the screws obselete at that point?

The screws will basically be obsolete, their main use is to hold the box together while the glue dries. Once it dries, they serve no real purpose, might offer a bit of bondage but the glue is your main man ;)

    ok sweet thanks

  6. why dont you start building the box now?

broke till friday, tis payday for me. I wish i could be building it now, i tried to con my parents into buying me the materials for well being their son and all. then they made me pay for dinner ftl. lol j/k

Now that you mention it.... Funny thing is that I actually asked my boss for a pay advance one friday so I could afford to buy materials to make my current box! I just couldn't wait the 3 days until payday. :pardon:

I wish i could ask for an advance, and get it.

  9. I cant wait until friday, Ill pick up my two 13 w3's and then go straight to home depot, or lowes and get all the stuff i need to build my box. just to make sure though, this is what i need right :

MDF wood 3/4 (also if i were to stack the wood to make it 1.5 thick would that change the way the box sounds?)

    Wood Glue

    Screws

    carpet

is that all i should need to buy? any recommendations on more or different things than i have listed?

I used the torres calc to comes up with a sealed box design, but im not sure how i figure out the port dimensions i would need. I figure a sealed enclosure would be good for me to build as a first, then ported depending on how the sealed comes out. I figured i should probably do a box with about 2 cubes per sub. it should be something like 16x32x18.

  10. He thought you meant you were doing 13 x w3's as in 13 subs, not 13" w3's.

To build boxes I use a panel saw, a table saw, compressor, router, nailgun, glue, clamps, jasper jig, palm and belt sander

oh ok, thanks for the clarification. I wish i could afford 13 w3's, if i could i would probably just go with some 18's instead.
