what no love? well im already thinking of 3 "nicer"/"bigger" tens. but i dont really wanna spend more than 100 for each. i have a hifonics 1200d.1 my buddy had, coming to me in a week or so. and i highly doubt im going to find another 104.7w... so what do you guys think would be a good sub to go with? i was looking at the AQ 2.0 tens not expensive, with a manageable amount of power with all 3 at 2.66 ohms.

ripped everything out...
thats it for now. i still have to great stuff around the box to seal it form the cab. and do a little other mods on the rear deck.
what do you guys think?
-
and then the rain came and decided to mess with my progress...
-
i decided half way threw this build that i wanted to make the box tunable...
-
here is the build pics log..
what used to be in my trunk a system or 2 ago...
start of build...
-
it may a little. but the box is at about 5.75 after all displacement and its tuned to about 33-34. uploading all the pics to interwebs now.

hey all so i got bored with the setup i have currently and it doesnt look like ill be getting a new car any time soon so i decided to do one last box for a permanent install. hopefully ill be running 3 104.7w infinitys, for now. if the 3rd ever shows... dont ask, but i have another similar 10 for the time being so i can get this thing installed asap. like today. so went to home depot this morning first time and last time i will ever have them cut my pieces out for me. i had them do it to save time. but all my pieces were under what they were supposed to be. by like 1/16-3/32" not huge deal but still anyways here's a sketch up for what it should look like..
its 38x14x26(wxhxd), and there is a reason for the port being on the back side. follow thread and youll see why when its finished and in my car...

mhmm thanks for the replies guys. maybe one day one could be my competition car. creppy as it may be i think its kind of a cool second life for the car. the first half of its life is all quiet and sad.. second life ass comp car loud and smile educing.

so im looking for a new car and i came across a few hearses for sale on craigslist and got to thinking how badass that would be to build a system in. maybe have a huge sponsor decal on rear windshield and that have one that reads "waking the dead" lol
so i was wondering if anyone has ever seen a hearse at any comps or that even on the road other than for funerals or whatever.

i must say im kinda impressed on how much your staying on top of this thread steve. i love that your actually updating every time you know something new. makes me glad to support you. also to anyone thats complaining give em a brake they are owkring as fast as they can, and its very tedious work. ive working on assembly lines and shit before, and i cut grass currently(bout 100 lawns a week). shit gets real old real quick. props to keeping at it to make the customer(s) happy.
i dont expect to get mine all that soon, seeing how i was a dumbass and didnt keep on top of this and just ordered a few days ago. but still cant wait to use it.

good shit meade, just ordered mine. been waiting for this thing to come out. much love sir. if it wouldnt be too much trouble would love to have mine signed as well. order #100000265

after a little bit of weatherstripping as gasketing material and getting washers for my tnuts this thing is so well sealed i can hardly move the cone. and it sounds amazing, really loud and i dont even have it properly amplified atm. but i do have the audio signal going threw a eq befroe the amp and then another inline passive eq on the wire. i need to find a proper amplifier. looking into rack amps now trying to decide what i want and what will work the best. i plan on building another when i get my own place and have these in my entertainment room.
also i have the projected response chart if anyone's interested below. (red is sealed response and yellow is ported)
-
well now seeing how i have a bum hand for the next few days i figured id throw this up here a see what people think..
so a few months ago i felt that the 2 10" subs in my room just werent enough umph for what i wanted and needed for the kind of movies and music i listen to. so i did some researching on a what a cheap sub setup that would give me the best overall loudness while having a relatively flat response also i wanted to do at least a 15" mainly for shits n giggles but output as well. well i found for the money i really couldnt beat the dayton audio classic 18" it had a decent response and i could build a nice big box that would be good for both sealed or ported so i could choose to port later if i wanted.
well here is what came up with, its not finished but will be soon. straight black, with a few coats of clear over that.
thats all i have for now.. videos to come..

make your own....just some 1/4" mdf.......especially since you had to drill out and counter sink your own holes anyways. just measure out your own holes for the rings you use.
haha i love it, maybe you should make a bunch of those and sell them for like $15 shipped. jasper wouldnt know what to do. :lol:lol

i would do a Dayton Audio RSS390HF-4 either with box mount plate amp. or more preferably a rack mount amp. box is going to be heavy enough as it is without adding a plate amp to it. if you want me to design you a HF(SQL) box, let me know..
btw i own this sub built a long throw PA/DJ style box for it. shit is LOUD! may have pic somewhere on here of it unfinished.. give me a minute.
-
pfft, GOD TIER: i made threw the entire song..
but let me say ive beaten the mudkip insane edition and a few other youtube "challenges"
honestly she is talented but the covers are, well interesting. i dont agree with how she changed them so much but he what you going to do. better than rebecca blacks bullshit. and the like.

random bump i have a eql bought it used didnt spend all that much, it is a great little eq, only wear on it are mounting locations and in my next build you wnt even see them so good deal for me. used it in my last car for a week, lol was driving around with out passenger or rear seats. so funny.

Bassin blazer? Why woul you recommend and 18 volt setup?
Dumbest suggestion made today award.
If he doesnt know if he can run .5 ohms why the hell should he run an 18 volt system?
Haha.. well with all the uncertainty I suppose Ill just scratch the idea and run at 1 ohm.. I know the amp can definanetly handle it (0.5), and I feel my electrical could as well... But Ill just either re-cone or sell it and buy 2 new ones with the correct coils.
thess amps can be ran all day on .3 ohm.. SOMEONE told me this on the phone.. and after rise who cares.. i seen a guy run a pair of ap1800s strapped at .5ohm ya thats .25 on each amp b4 rise.. and he had 2 subs and rising to 2ohm... he dont hav any problems.. and ap are the best amps.. like dc
holy fanboy. Dont ever give anyone advice here. ever.

i love dayton audio, i like how youd id those towers.. sadly i dont need any of the stuff your trying to sell..
but, i built a "BoomBox" with an old head unit i had and 2 8inch daytons and 2 1-1/2" soft dome tweets and 2 dayton 2 way crossovers.. sound really nice not a ton of low end but its really clear and louder than i need so imo very worth it..
i also have their classic 18" in a 6ft3 cube/ so much bass and nice n clear for only 300 4ohm rms. and its sealed right now have it in my bedroom but im debating on porting it..
-
like a lot of other people in this thread i will be attempting my first glassing this summer when i ge tmy new car, going to be doing a pilar pods and possible doors. i already have a few junkyards in my contact list going to get so out of wrecked car and go from there. ill deff have a thread up when the time comes.

interesting im personally on my 3rd system and have setup/ built about 5 for my friends, always used my ear and judgment as well. never blown a sub or amp.. did break a prefab box once though.. stupid 1/2 plexi, on bandpass wall.. (just fyi: it wasn't mine)
3 10s, just under 5.75 ft^3 ported
in Subwoofers / Enclosures

i was going to either turn the box around or phase the subs in reverse. why not. same concept as a blow threw in a truck.
