  1. My favorite box build is experimenting with a octo and I think he has it figured out. My equipment. 2 XL m2 12s on a 5K, later I'll be going to level 5s on a 7.5 or 9 depending on electrical at the time.

My question, I want to do a 6.75 inch octo, I wanted 7.5 but I dont have the width, motors wont fit. I seen that in a car like mine that pulled a 49 at the headrest on 2 level 3s off an AQ2200. I really want to get that loud! 3.05 net with a 39hz port for the meter and a 33hz add on for daily, 37.77sq with 11.74sq per cube . Subs up port center rear in a Scion tC, opinions? Will this satisfy my low end love I have now with my 31hz music box and good meter when I need it? To bad it only does a 45 sealed up peaking at 46hz with the box thats in now..

  2. I seen a mock up. its a bit different then Im use to. Its not a true 6th order cause the subs will be firing out of the box. Basically picture two chambers, the front chamber toward the front of the car will house the drivers, up firing. There is a small port along the sides of the box going to a big chamber then firing back out a standred looking port. " You can think of it as a series tuned sixth order but with the subs mounted so they radiate externally."

Its going to give me the 26-60 im looking for. They say he is one of the best we a good track record so it dont hurt to try. If not Ill use the posted sketch.

  3. well i know with my box, tuned at 32hz, i get about ~1-1.5in of excursion full tilt on the 32hz part, and about ~2.5in on the 38hz part.

Im deff getting some excursion. Ive never seen a sub move like these are, minus the big excusion woofers like the new chinese junk XXX and W7. I think they are moving just a few mm to much though. I added .5 cubes to it last nigh to see if it would help. I dont think it made any difference at all.

  4. SS?

WIth 2 m2 XLs running on 1 5k, with the system tuned properly there should be no need for a break in period. I would suggest investing in a DD1 and CC1 to properly set your amps.

I already have them. I just turned everything down for now so i dont break anything until a new box is done. Tuned with the -10 tone and 26hz SS they dont like it at all

problem, do it with the -5

I could set it at 0 and they still bottomed out. And output was not impressive for a 5000 watt system. It was supposed to be tuned to 32hz but I guess im a tard and did something wrong.

And the other question. I think its the 38hz note. The louder bass line

dependent on your system, the higher or lower note?

I want to say the higher note. Cause i can play "juice box" fine for the most part.

  5. SS?

  6. You dont need the t/s specs to design a good box. The ts specs are actually going to vary from sub to sub based on break in anyway.

m2 XL 12s on a 5k, I would go with 1.5-1.75 net per sub with 14-16in2 of port per 1ft3 and tune based on the type of music that you listen to. If you listen to alot of rap, tuning in the low 30s would be good. If you want something that will sound good on most rap but still play rock and country well, then a 35-38hz tuning would be good.

Thats what I was going for. I dont know what happened with the box I just finished. It was supposed to be 1.8 per driver with 13in2 per cube tuned to 33 but they are bottoming out soon as I put the power down. This is box number 2 that has been fail. I used the Torres calc but I guess I did something wrong

  7. Im tired of trying to get the box right by guessing. Its not working and I dont want to break anything. Does anybody have the T/S specs for these subs, it would really help a ton. Or give me specs that are really working for you. internal, port area, tune. Not looking for a SPL box, just a low hitting loud daily driver.

2 XL m2 12s on a 5K. Please only people that know they are getting the most out of their set up give specs.
