  1. The rubicon doesn't look too bad, might have to see how much I get them for through work.....the only thing I don't trust on the new tarantulas is it looks and feels kinda cheap, but I dunno maybe that's just me lol

  2. mate i can get you 2 lil wonder 2600d for $1800.

Do you reckon they're worth buying? Because I can get one for $400 ish and the tarantula 2500 was even cheaper than that, so there pretty much my options so far lol

Thanks for the input guys, guess it's hard to say what their new stuff is like compared to the old, but just looking for an opinion on the amps in general for anybody who has one?

  3. Just wondering if soundstreams amps are worth buying? I picked up 2 T6 fifteens because I got them cheap and they seem to do the job but not sure on their amps. Anybody have any feedback to give on them? Whether they put out good power/rated power? Power hungry or not? etc.

Amp I might be getting in particular is the new Tarantula 2500 model.....

  4. The best way to determine whether or not a song is clipped is to look for flat spots, but if you look at a song and it just doesn't look right, or you're subs are getting warm quickly by playing it, id say don't play that song on you're system or have it at a lower volume then you normally would :)

  5. Thanks, from now on I will save as MP3 and try and change the links. Damn the size difference is huge 45mb down to 4mb LOL.

Ill try and upload as MP3 and give you the links.

EDIT: Here is the link for Back In Black in MP3 format. http://www.mediafire.com/?ieeew2cf2e2dx7c

And Im my opinion it think when you bass edit songs.. make the bass hit a little higher. You have them hitting somewhat low. The low notes dont do good in my car.

Dude what are you running? A single 6" tuned at 50hz or something? High bass sounds like shit compared to the lows, anything below 40hz Is what you want, the majority of people on this forum can play low so making songs just for you're high tuned system isn't really going to satisfy most people.... :D

ahhh the good old VE Commodore ute, i love these things. my mate has the normal ve commodore and damn do them things have alot of power to them. and how long you been down here in Australia man ?

edit: sorry for mini thread jack lol :)

I've been down here for just over three weeks. I'm just here for the term at Newie Uni. Would love to stay longer, maybe even live here eventually.

    i vote 6 15s

41 ~ sq inch more of cone area, and 2 more motors for more motor force....

cone area + motorforce = king for nasty hairtricks... :)

But typically will cost more, especially shipped to Australia. Unless its local, but always more expensive for more drivers.

Australia is a great place to live, just shit availability and prices on car audio :(

indeed it will cost more, about $400-500 more expensive then the 18"s thats the only reason why i cant decide, the 18"s are cheaper and will be getting more power per driver, but then as people have already said 6 15"s have a bit more cone area and 2 more motors, but typically both options will be seeing 5000rms.........would the price difference change anyones minds? or is it worth just spending that bit extra?....

  7. haha i wish i had a VE ute, im only 17 though and was limited to what i could buy for my first car, so i could spend more on the system :P

yea 18"s are quite uncommon to an extent in Australia, but i dont really care about the wow factor just whatever will be loudest on music and play lower

anyways heres the beast, a 93 VP commodore wagon:

    img0011mg.jpg

To fit the quantity of subs i will be buying the system in stages, so if i go with the 15"s ill have 4 in a box behind the backseat and then 6 in a wall, same with the 18"s start off with 2 in a box, then 4 in a wall :P

  8. So I'm looking at upgrading but unsure on what size/quantity of woofers to go with...

    Options are:

    -4 18" 1000rms subs getting about 1200rms each, or

    - 6 15" 1000rms subs (same woofer) getting about 800rms each

Both setups will be in a large box tuned at around 30 hz eventually put into a fourth order wall, wanna know what would be the best way to go for a loud daily groundpounder ;)

Any opinions would be great :D cheers

  9. I understand that I'm quite a few build away from a haitrick. But do you understand what I'm tryin to say? If I got different more expensive subwoofers would they move more air? Say if I had a 12" sony xplod that were rated at 600wrms and a 12" sundown audio sub that is also rated 600wrms, which would move more air in two identical setups(I'm not talking hairtrick)? By the way this will be the last setup for now as i hope to get a different truck that has an extended cab, so I'm thinking maybe some sort of wall, maybe a blowthrough, if my budget, and experience allow it.

If you dont want to/cant pull a hairtrick what does it matter what sub moves more air? It all comes down to the design of the box anyhow, id go with whatever sounds best/loudest and save up for a wall or blowthrough build to get some hair tricks going....

    :good:
