  1. ok i have check with a voltage meter i have 14.8 volts input power ground is good when i unplug the rcas from the amp and unhook the subs and touch the voltage meter to it and try to read the ohms it jumps all over the place for about 3 seconds then shuts the volt meter off. i also noticed when i have no music playing and no volume it crackles the subs when i adjust the bass nob.

any ideas im thinking bad amp (take in mind no rcas are hooked up while i was testing this)

also was thinking that if my amp has crapped out did it take out my subs so i hooked the voltage meter on ohms to each sub and im getting 3.7 ohms on each sub because there set at 4 ohm that should be good but i am not sure still learning alot this is my first big build! hehe thanks for all your help and support guys

  2. ok now 2 things first is

will it be worth all the trouble getting rid of these subs and buying new ones for only 77 rms watts more per sub??? prolly not in my book

second thing is this morning i had a electrical burnt smell coming off the sub in side of the amp. it has never made this smell its not horible and i have not changed anything since i have installed on day one

    any ideas thanks

Not worth it unless you're upgrading from what you have to something higher quality such as DC/AA/FI/IA, etc.

Probably cooking coil...unless you mean the amp...then you could have burnt something up. Does everything still work?

everything works the same but like i said i never have smelt it before ill check ohms and stuff on my break in about an hour

and the smell is only coming from the amp not the subs

  4. You're gonna love those D4's on that amp. Will the place you bought them not just trade them out for the D4 coil version?

that would be possible but issue is im past the 90 grace period and to ship these subs back would be out of my pocket and at almost 40 lbs each that would run me about 100 bucs =\

  5. ok for my amplifire i have a t1500-1 bdcp 1768 rms at 2 ohm and 1922 at 1 ohm via birth sheet. i also have 2 rockford fosgate t1 d2 12 800 rms each.

the thing is i know these subs can be run at 1 ohm and the amp is capable of this issue is how?? right know each sub has its own pair of 8 gauge wires 1 being in A and the other being in B.

on the voice coils i have a choice of running them in 4 ohm or 1 ohm for the fuse on the sub itself. i have done what rockford recommended which is make each sub to 4 ohm with the fuse the run each sub into proper terminals the way i have it now.(SEE PIC)

but im pretty sure i can run them at 1 ohm what are your thoughts and concerns?? about setting it up this way??

    thanks for all your input!!

  6. Thanks for all the updates Steve major progress going on there hehe. I know what its like i build surveillance machines its alot of assembly.

but in all reality I respect your work and equipment so if takes a month Im good cause I know Im gonna get mine. when i do all of Spokane and northern Idaho will be DISTORTION FREE THANKS TO THE SMD DD-1!!!

thanks again Steve and everyone else who is helping with the building and shipping of these units!!!

  7. I dunno if this helps but im running 2 amps both Rockford Fosgate 1 is t1500-1 bdcp and the other is the t600-4 and i have 1/0 from front batt to rear batt with 2 anl fuse holders at 300 amps per. 1 just before connection to each batt. then after the rear bat i used 1/0 to a 10 farad hybrid digital stinger cap. and from the cap i have 1/0 to the dis blocks(ordered a 4th anl fuse holder and a 300 amp fuse to put between the cap and the power dis block ITS NOT IN YET! WILL BE HERE WEDNESDAY). from dist blocks to amps i have 4 gauge wire with no over heating issues or anything ill get some pics up tomorrow to dark tonight(take in mind i have 3 kids im on a tight budget so my system is not even close to being done). i did use to have 4 gauge and i was melting all the plastic around the fuse holder and the plastic on the fuse it self. and when i realized this i went to disconnect it i touched the fuse holder and burned the shit out of myself lol. if you go to autotoys.com they have 1/0 stinger kits for 99 bucs shipped that should get you most of what you need then little pieces here and there

here is a direct link to the kit - http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=11047

again i will get pics up tomarrow
