i want you to check yor power and ground going to your amp. the ONLY reason i say that is because you meantioned light dimming just from turning on. check your whole power wire from battery to amp. sometimes amps can turn on just from remote wires and the may fuse may be bad. check ground wire completely. sub is good i assume? ok. take a ddm meter to your rcas and see what you get if anything. maybe head unit is bad. unger headunit did you turn on sub channel. did it unplug from your headunit behind dash? sounds like its all hooked up right just need to re check everything. thats usually how i fix my problems. Since the amp turns on it sounds like there is a problem between headunit and wires to amp or somewhere there. let me know

I've always been a DO IT YOURSELFer and recently fell in love with the automotive customization!! I've asked around and there aren't any places around here that offer the type of services other bigger cities can offer. Ive decided to take a shot at it myself and need some help. I've looked at local community colleges about what they offer and i will be taking a few basic automotive classes..but what do i need to learn to do car audio? alarms? and anything with a complete interior customization? I'm using my truck as a 1st project and my plans are to re do everything! the interior is a cracked and torn tan leather..everything is tan..i want it black? by either salvaging the leather and dying it black? paint the dash? and all the trim? I'm also curious about changing out the instrument cluster from a mine a 2000 cadillac escalade to a 2002 cadillac escalade? the odometer is digital on the new one but not the one i have now? and the cluster positions are arranged nicer.. id also like to switch the center console and the top console is this possible?
if any1 has any advice on how i can do this or where i can get more info? i kno this is interior section but I'm also interested in how to build boxes and how to wire up car audio?
i have tried and ask many different people and places and all the places give me multiple responses and most of the time its " but i don't know for sure? we don't do those type of things)
there is no places around here that really offer the total customizations and id like to learn to start the industry down in my area..
forums (like this one) d4s.com and just youtube videos and try and fail is hopw i learned all i know to this day. I feel i know alot compared to otehr 17 year olds

No alt wont always output the full amps example 200 amp alt. NOT 200 amps all the time thats just the max

if you dont want to buy a whole strand of new wire. use what you got. then get a distrib. block and buy like an extra 3-4 ft and runt from amp to block.

i have a 2004 Navi and have spent around 3 k NO LIE in getting the air ride repaired around 5 times. Its a pain in my @$$. Doesn't strut master make like air ride struts or something of that nature? how do the struts and shocks ride?

Yes really all the units are missing is rca inputs. But i hear all the time that they are trying to make it harder to swap out headunits? why? why would they care if we change the radio out?

So i was thinking about this on my way to work today. I own a Pontiac g6 and the stock radio was replaced with a avh-3200dvd. The stock radio have a dic(driver info center), and you could buy a radio kit for a single din only to keep those features. What does everyone think the new stuff will be. will the new aftermarket radios use dic's or will manufacturer make radios to allow us to easily add on , such as rca input and usb jacks? just want some opinions. thanks.

I hava been hearing the RE box calc. is off on design and specs. I use a guy " spencerearl1996 " on d4s.com forum and pay him $10.00 and gives you all the specs and cut out sheets. Im sure there is a box builder on her that does that. Also i started using aero ports, i don't think i will ever go back, just like the feel and sound of them, but thats just IMO.

You should get the d2. That'd allow you to wire down to 1 ohm. That'd result in less money spent on an amp.

Im gettting a Sundown SA-10 D4. The rms is 600 watts. It will be in a ported box. I want to play this loud and low and long daily driver. What amp would be good for this sub. trying to stay under $300 if possible,
