Hey guys, just wanted to fill you in a little on my experience with Frozn, I bought a DC Audio level 3 sub from him with the exception that he shipped it the next day as soon as possible (Had to have my bass) With this he agreed and i purchased the sub, he kept me informed on what he was doing at the time he was doing it, such as getting supplies for it, supplied me with answers to the questions i had about it, and from what i can see, was very honest. I recieved the package today with the level 3 DC in it. The packaging was perfect, I was having trouble opening the damn thing, trying not to get to excited and stab something. Overall the shipping was quick, the daily feedback was great. He's a great guy to buy from.

Haha i hope it was that, i did have my front speaker wires just chillin there, so hopefully that's what it was imma pray.. lol thanks guy i appreciate it greatly this forums always a huge help.
-
Yeah it's supppppper bad, like i'll play it at 27 30 volume perfect, then other times i'll play it 18 and it's distorting :l wires with the HU? That could be the case. I believe i left a wire uncapped. Shame on me.
-
Yeah, the bass is at 0. So it the bass booster option it has on it, i just installed one of the front speakers and it's working like normal again, if that helps?
-
Alright, thanks man. I'll be sure to check all my wires could it be my ground? Im trying to brain storm looking around because i've bought a new HU and speakers trying to resolve the problem.
-
Thanks ahead of time for any input.

Hey guys, alright well I currently have a Mitsubishi elcipse RS 1997, with stock speakers, the speakers would crack at high volume, lets say 25. Then at other times they would play perfectly fine at 25. I figure if i replaced those speakers they would be perfectly fine, so i replaced the speakers and im having the same problem, i replaced them played perfect at Volume 27, then later at the same volume they started to distort. Has anyone experienced this problem or can toss me suggestions to troubleshoot?

Hey fellers, alright well im not very experienced in car audio, i know most of the basics but still learning for the most part, so i decided I was going to get another car stereo system (DC level 3) and didn't want to clip the sub to death, so being smart about this i went to my local radio shop about 10 miles away and ask them how much it would be, then shortly after i asked "Do you set the gains by ear?" They replied Yeah we listen to it and set the gains, then i replied Oh you don't use a O-Scope? They said oh we use that to. What a shame. I left the shop quickly laughing because the store told me just want i wanted to hear, not what they do. Really wish i could find a quality shop around here that doesn't always give me a load of bs. Anyways was just wondering any other stories if somethin like this happened to you at your local shop would love to read about it. Not like i have anything better to do right now haha.
I was an installer from 1987 - 1995 and worked for 5 different shops in the San Diego area and the 5th one (out of those 5) I worked for was the only shop that had a scope. From 1995 - 2009 I worked for two different manufacturers both in the top 10 of largest american car audio brands and during that time, I never saw anyone pull out a scope to adjust the gains on any of the cars that went to SEMA or CES. Not really any point to this, just saying.
Lol, so your basicly telling me there is no point in setting my gains with a o-scope or DD-1?... haha i disagree but maybe that's just me.

I hope you didn't buy it from onlinecarstereo! That amp model has been out so long you can find them for cheap everywhere. Certainly cheaper than $320! Being CEA rated doesn't mean what it used to, but yeah its alpine so it will put out the power it claims. Great amps, i just hope you didn't drop three bills on one.
Haha nah, if i had the cash to drop three bills on a amp i'd be buying a DC amp, or Sundown.
-
Lmao, no everyone. I did not buy from that site, I simply set that for specs so you could take a look if you were interested. I bought the amp elsewhere used for 170. No worries
-
Haha nice system, my hardbody's tranny went out was a good truck though!
-
Lol, yeah well that'a alright i'll remember not to buy from there
-
Haha, great to hear man. I saw it and had to get it, was only 170 shipped gunna run it at 2-ohm so that I'll push around the 1000w.
-
Thanks that's what i thought it ment, but wasn't quiet sure..
-
Haha, the alpine amp i have already bought is CEA certified, but what exactly does CEA certified mean. I bought the http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_19252_Alpine_MRP-M1000.aspx theres the link
-
Any input is appreciated
-
Btw, being CEA Certified means it actually pushes what it says it does, but is that of clean wattage?
-
Haha, sorry didn't mean to start a contrivercy over any of this, but thank you everyone for the input, I have decided not to buy the audiobahn and purchased a 1000w alpine amp for 160:) that IS CEA. Thank you everyone for your help.

D-Train your saying it does rated power? Did you clamp it and see?

Since when does a sales person equal the quality of an install?
Depending on genre you may have to over gain to achieve the best results because of the lack of lower end punch in that type of music.
Your ears are the best equipment you'll ever have, depending on what a person listens to the dd-1, o-scope will be perfect for the their needs but when you listen to older classic rock and metal you have no choice but to gain higher than listening to bass heavy tracks.
Sadly a fair amount of shops will try to sell you the shit they have had on the shelves for a long time whether it's some good brand name item or total garbage brands, but as long as you know what you want and not get sucked into his game you'll be fine.
The sales person is the person who is installing it, basicly by him telling me two different stories he just told me what i wanted to hear, i agree your ears are the best piece of equipment you have, but it doesn't solve clipping

Haha, if only i had the money Savin for an amp right now to power my dc audio tryin not to cheap out on a amp this time had a crunch amp on a kicker crx last time.... in a prefab box lmfao hopefully this system will be better.
-
Yeah, it kinda cracks me up. Then i went to another local shop and there talking down the other shop pretty funny. But yeah awhile back they tried to sell me a BOSS amp like it was the best thing in the world :l
