I wuz lookin into the re subs, sundown, and skarr. I dont have alot of money so wanna make my system louder than da 15's solobarics i got now on a budget.

So today i was in a little debate with my cousin on car audio since I recently put a system in my car, so I wanted some of your guys' knowledge, preferably well known, respected, people that have experience. I told my cousin that I'd ask some knowledgeable people so here it is. Anyways
does power/ground wire size matter? YES and why? Because it needs to be able to carry out the draw that your amp's asking for.
Should you use speaker wire for power wire? No, speaker wire is way to small.
What is the purpose of the gain on an amp? To put out more wattage.
Can you still have distortion when using a LPF? Yes
Can you properly tune an amp without knowing where your head-unit distorts? No, but don't quote me on that
Can you send a clipped signal to a subwoofer? Of course.
What is a clipped signal? Basicly "Dirty power" being sent to your subwoofer.
Should you play a song farrrrrrrr below tuning? No
Can a subwoofer unload in a ported box? Yes don't quote me.
Do voltage & amps matter when powering an amp?Voltage does matter, it decides how many watts you can push out of any givin amplifier
Can an average human determine 1% distortion? Clueless
Do acoustics come into play when talking about loudness of a setup? Clueless
Can you under-power a subwoofer even if "Scoped" or using DD-1? Yes, none of those tell you how many watts are being pushed out, use a clamp.
Is ported different than vented & port-holed? Mindclustered.
Does an amp turn DC current into AC current? Unsure Are kicker amps the only amps that do rated power? Lol, no they are not. If an amplifier says it's CEA compliant then it's more than likely going to do rated.. if it's clean power.. you'd have to dd-1 it.
Do ohms matter when connecting subwoofers? Yes, it will give it a different amount of wattage depending on the ohm load
Does wire size increase efficiency? Yes
Why don't washer/dryers/dishwashers/microwaves use massive wire if they have 120v & not just 12v? Dunno
If you guys can answer as many questions as possible I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.
It's super late so I can't remember everything that came up but that's a pretty damn big list.

If car audio is a waste of money, then any other hobby or buying more than you need to get by is a waste of money.
I agree. Anything that isn't a necessity, but isn't car audio somewhat of an investment being you can resell it for a little less than what you bought it for, taking into account you took care of it

So I was thinking today about people who always tell me it's a waiste of money to buy car audio stuff.. And honestly Ido agree, but that's with anything movies, parks, snowboarding, just another form of intertainment.. But then again.. I look at it somewhat as. Long term investment. Yeah you can blow a sub, burn a amp ect, but fr the most part it holds it's value. Whatcha guys think? I'm mowing the lawn little board to sorry about it being pretty damn random lmao

Well I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse and I'm looking to make the outside a tad more.. appealing. I want to put a body kit on it but I'm not sure as to what brand would be the best choice in my application. I have seen some that have just the front, and some that have all of them, but with things such as two exhaust holes in the back which I don't have. I also was wondering about lights, I am going to be getting these tires, and rims for 400 and these lights for 50. http://www.protuninglab.com/pro-yd-me97-hl-bk.html but undecided on tail lights, any suggestions or opinions would be wonderful. Haven't done anything exterior wise to any of my cars.

Smell hasn't came back, had it full tilt throughout a whole song.. gets pretty loud. I want to kill everybody by Skrillex.. anyone know what hertz? Just figure I'd follow up on what happened. Seems to be good

I assume this would increase my output?I know this doesn't have anything to do with it but I would crank that lpf down a bit. Shoot for half an octave or so. No reason to tune so low when your cutting out the lower frequencies like that; but thats just me.

My guess is glue burning off the coils. I take it you were wanging on it a little? No worries, its expected. I honestly would not worry about it right off the bat. I would be more worried if I started to hear motor noise. I say give it a week at moderate levels to let the glue settle in and then wang away.
I was thinking this as well. I'll be easy on her for a bit and yeah I was.. The sub was a tad warm too though.. Also expected?

Possibility. At 12.7 should be close to 1400 I would assume have not clamped as I finished tonight. I had the design made by a forum member was pretty confident it would work. But perhaps.

Honestly, I rather have the Bass Boost completely off (or set at zero). If you smell something, then it's probably a good idea to turn down the gain. If your subwoofer is new, then give it some time to 'break-in'. I learned all about that years ago. Just don't be too "tough" on it.

Bass boost is down, was never turned on. I was also thinking to let it break in.. It's wired to one ohm.

Hey guys recently got a Skar 1500.1 woohoo also a level 4 dc. My box is 2.25 cubes tuned to 32 hertz designed in bbp6. I have a mitsubishi eclipse 90A alt with agm xp975 in the back wet cell in front run of 0 gauge and te big three is done. I set my gains today with the dd1 with a friend we did just a states in the instructions online EXCEPT we turned the bass knob all the way rather than half as stated.. Everything was good but the 1k light didn't come on. Went along with the 40 hertz on the head unit and it clipped at 60/62 but I set my amp gains at 53 being my speakers would crack anything above that volume. Okay So! My volts hold 12.7 at full tilt but i just got a slight coil smell.. Curious if I'm clipping it now.. I understand your not god and can't just magicly tell me. But I'm wondering from a new woofer if it's the ca glue as I heard before. Or me doing something wrong. I will take it to my local shop to have them set it soon. I'm just wondering if I've missed something? Hu was flat sub down gain down bass boost down lpf at 80 sub sonic at 30 or so. Sorry for the long explanation just trying to give as much info as possible. Will post pics up tonight.
Edit: I used a 0 hertz for hu and a -5 for the amp.

So I'm about to buy these rims, and tires off my buddy for 400 bucks since he got in a car accident. I'm curious as to what they would look like on my car but I only have one HUGE picture of t
he rim and a small picture of my car at a strange angle.. I'm horrible at photoshop was curious if anyone was able to set them in place for me to get an idea? Any helps appreciated even if it's in paint.

I'm not exactly sure the specs on the battery but I recently burned up my stock 90A alt big three and xp975 in back. Although it could have been on its way out as y charging voltage was 13.6 but regardless you'll need to charge up the battery's often with that little alt and the pull your amps asking for.
