Does anyone play music videos in their car if so where do u get them and how do u play them in the car ie cd/dvd/flashdrive/ipod?
-
I tried that it might just be the converters that i'm using. . I have no idea.
-
I have a Power Acoustik PTID-8940NR for my head unit. I just so happened to have an old music video on my flash drive and it played just fine when I plugged it into the cd player but any other music video I put on the flash drive and try to play in the car doesnt work. The video that does work is in an .avi format and I have even converted the new videos to that format but still nothing.
does anybody have an idea or different way I can do get this to work??

Hey what's up. My name is Andy and I found this site from Steve's youtube videos. I've been a basshead for the last 7 years and i'm only 20 now. I fell in love with bass when I heard my uncle's 2 12's and have had some kind of beat ever since.

I still might check that out can't beat good customer service at a reasonable price

Hope you figure out whatever the problem is! Definitely check the box, but if it does turn out to be the subs, make sure you set up the amp correctly the next time with a scope or dd-1 or you will just smoke the subs again. It will be much cheaper to buy a dd-1 than it will to buy new subs every six months. Good luck!
Thank you. . And I havent really had time to see if it is the box or not yet but if I end up getting new subs I wont even hook em up until I get something to set the gain properly lol

Try pushing on the cone and see if you can feel any crunching.
That was actually one of the first things I did lol
but no no crunching

so I was doing some looking around and im leaning towards 2 Obsidian 15" D2's - nice on the wallet and I wouldnt have to get a new amp
has anyone heard anything good or bad about obsidian subs?
what "3000 watt" amp do you have?
Its a Power Acoustik a3000db

is it a prefab ? maybe your box is broke
wow I never thought of that
def gonna check that out before I buy new subs haha

just about to say that. damage does not have to occur right away. plus, 'positioning' of a knob (volume, gain, etc) has nothing to do with the output of your amp. your bass knob being halfway up could have been what was killing them
man that really sucks. . . if only I had a dd-1 lol
-
man thats definetly not something I like to hear but sounds about right. . .
guess its time to jump back in the subwoofer market
-
I checked all the wiring even the power and ground under the hood and everything looks to be in order.
I hooked up one sub at a time and each sub sounded distorted individually.
I think I may just listen to it as normal and hope its just a loss in backpressure from the trunk being open
-
thanks again guys!
Just went through this build for the first time and I have to say I am once again beyond impressed. Awesome job man

Check for loose RCAs. What deck are you running? Sub level at 0, "lows" setting at 0. What do you have your gains set to on the amp? Is the bass boost turned up?
RCA's are tight I have a Power Acoustik ptid-8940nrbt. The sub level is at 10/15. I have the bass setting at 3 on the deck. the gain is at 3/4 and the bass knob never goes more than half way up.
bass should be on zero, no bass boost on the amp. and did you set the gain by ear?
Ya i did it by ear but it has been at the same level for at least 6 months idk why it would just decide to start sounding shitty

That's what I thought it might be but out of all the times that I have opened the trunk with the music on it has never sounded like they were blown. So much so I turned the headunit completely off until I can check all the wiring in the morning - I hope but doubt thats what it is. . .
-
and that has never happened before either, always still sounded good with the trunk open - as good as they can with an open trunk lol
-
Did you shut the trunk then try playing them if so did they sound normal?
Ya. . I coudnt hear the the distortion inside the car only when I opened the trunk.
What is your opinion on Kenwood?
