  1. Ilovebass, dont worry about thread jack, most my questions have been answered haha.

The comp ive entered is a db drag and its 30sec peak hold. So is it safe to say i ahould find a song that goes across different freqso it juggles around my peak?

I spoke to the guys running comp, the said to come early with a test cd and find my peak, then ill have a bank of songs lableled by the the max and min peaks and play a song from there.

    Ia that a reasonable plan?

  2. Hey guys,

Im entering my first competition Feb 6th. Soo Excited as this is the first comp im competing in.

A little bit nervous though, car is in the shop, head gasket decided to break so fixing that and running 0 gauge wires for 2nd battery. Should be ready in time for feb 6th.

For those of you dont know im running a budget build at the moment, 2 audiobahn AW121T 12" and powered by 800 rms.

Aiming for 150db LOL just kidding, being a first run just want to see where im at and how everything goes, amp is not even tuned properly, so anyone in Victoria, Aus, that has Oscope of DD1 greatly appreciate a tuning.

I was hoping from this post, i can get some feedback on peoples first time competing and some hints and tips of any sort.

Also music is another grey area, got some good stuff and looking around, suggestions are open.

    cheers

  3. My subs are bottoming out.

I did some research and i think my port is to blame. there is not enough pressure... So im thinking of re doing it.

What are your thoughts, should i make it smaller opening or longer port?

Might even make the box smaller

Also i dont think im over powering them, got a kicker zx 750 and subs rated at 550rms each. Amp is not tuned to its max potential either.

    Thanks

  4. Audiobahn provided some specs for the subs, they need total 3.5cu. ft. each. and 3.2 after port... so with trunk space i have to cut back, which i did.

Unless i have thought of the concept wrong, I assumed each sub needed its air, so i kinda doubled everything i worked out for a single sub. Should i just make the box 3.5cu ft. total for both subs or does each woofer need its own air?

Sorry for all these questions... Noob wanting to learn.

    Cheers guys

  5. I have finally finished my first box designed from scratch... Its all built and thumping hard, it sounds great hitting lows and shaking the car. Currently running off a kicker zx.750.

This is just a beginners box so i can learn the skills of box making and calculating, i am hoping to upgrade to some good quality subs in the future.

Still have to add another battery and change my 2gauge big 3 to a 0gauge big 3, and stronger alt...

    Dimensions(external)

    H: 15.5in

    W: 31.5in

    D: 23.5in

    Port

    H: 15in

    W: 4in

    L: 12in

From memory it should be 5cu ft.

I am thinking about doubling the port length to get it down to 28hz, because i think now its at 32hz.

I dont understand how to calculate port size and length, i just need someone to explain that to me. All the volume of ports and all that... Its the only part i guessed with this box. If someone can help me understand how to calculate port it would be great.

Neways i hope you like the box and can provide some assistance.

Also thanks to everyone on this forums, helped me heaps.

  6. Hey guys

    Long time reader, first post.

Need help with my first box, i just want to make sure that i got everything right before i spend time and money.

i have had 2 12" Audiobahn aw121t woofers sitting around, and decided to do something about it.

I have all the specs listed below:

    Fs - 33.4hz

    qts - .64

    Qes - .69

    Qms - 8.89

    Vas(litres) - 49

    Vas(Cu. Ft. - 1.71

    Re - 3.3

    Le - 2.42mh

    Mmd - 148grams

    Xmax -

    RMS - 550

    Sd - .048

    Freq Resp - 26hz - 1khz

    Efficiency - 92.8

    Displacement - .15

They recommended this for 1 sub for SPL:

    air space - 3.2

    port size - 4x10.5

    port velocity - 6.54

    -3db - 29hz

    Tune freq - 38hz

    Sub disp - .15

    port disp - .141

total vol - 3.5 cu. ft.

My dimensions, designed to fit recommended SPL setup by AudioBahn:

    Box

    H - 40 in

    W - 97.5 in

    D - 60.25 in

    Port

    H - 5 in

    W - 10 in

    D - 12 in

Will this be the best setup to get some good numbers and hit lows.

If this is complete shit, can someone help me design a box.

    Cheers
