  1. yea, sorry chevy i just wanted some help asap so i IM'd you cuz you were the only person on from thhis forum that i had there sn (who i percieved to know what they were doing) and by you saying that i have a lot of questions i thought you were just being a dick. its cool now though i have got the answers to my questions so no need for any help on AIM anymore. sorry.

I will try to learn more from the other posts.

  2. so you dont think that what you said was rude. and what you said does not in anyway match up with, i was busy. If you were busy why would you say no you have a lot of questions, just say no im sorry im busy.

I UNDERSTAND PEOPLE HAVE THINGS TO DO--he did not say he was busy.

there are a ton of nicer things to say than no, you have a lot of questions. I didnt intend for this.

All that was intended to happen was for me to ask one question about molding and that was it. I was hoping to go to the store then and buy everything and start a project.

But i have to get some rude response, just help someone or say your busy dude

  3. i never said having yous screen name on there meant 24/7 help, and no one ever said they coudlnt help at the moment all i got was a "no, you have a lot of questions." Say you cant help me before you say waht you said. You can say you can't help right now, i understand people have lives. But you never said that.

Can't i ask some questions, i mean ive only had less than 20 posts.

  4. i have been on the rockfordfosgate forum for a while and saw this one. This one is different because it is informing on a lot of interesting things that most forums dont have like the fabrication topics. Its really cool and expands car audio. Anyways i love the site and all the help and all the people who know so much about what they are doing.

i live in the dfw area and will be going to texas tech next summer/fall for my freshman year.

  5. yea, its cool i can ask someone else who wants to help someone and is a little more welcoming. Its not hard to find people who want to help. I Im'ed you hoping to get an answer about making a mold out of fiber glass and i was going to ask what do you use to put on the stock kickpanel or stock anything so your resin and fiberglassing is not directly on it. I dont know if that was clear or not but yea.

I have not been to a forum with this much information and i was very intrigued on this fiberglassing because i also saw a section of it in the CA&E. Sorry for all the questions and calling you a bitch. Just wanted an answer and i figured anyone who would be willing to put up there AIM screen name on their profile on this forum would be willing to help.

If you would have said i am busy... can you ask me later i would have said sure thanks.

    sorry again.

  6. i live in the DFW area (suburbs) and i trook it to a little shop. I bought the alaram from there (its skytec)r anyways i am going back to there so they can add on a lot more.

There are literally a ton of little shops around where i live, i'd just go to a couple and see what they all say.

The one regret i have though is that my alarm is the most sensitive thing ever. Goes off from planes flying over and exhaust and sometimes nothing.

  7. im from the DFW area, i understand the process mostly i just want to knwo what you mix the hardner with or what you mix the kitty hair with. I am going to use fiber glass to make a mold of the area of my door panel where the tweeter is mounted and then work off that to create a pod for my tweeter. I am going to follow the simple steps on realmofexcursion or the steps in my CA&E magazine.

  8. so when you are trying a project of some sort like this. You would put resin on the panel or whatever. Then take the kitty hair and mix it with hardner and apply it on the resin?

is the matte like the kittyhair but in a sheet?

when you said "the "glass" part"- is that referring to the kitty hair?

Also another question... when you fiberglass, do you fiberglass the ot=utside of the panel or both outside and inside?

And for an enclosure, you fiberglass the inside of hte enclosure only?

Thanks for all the help, this is really interesting.

  9. i appreaciate the quick response...ok i was just wondering because like a lot of people (unexperienced with car audio i should say) are like im going to get a fiberglass box, but they have no idea what it is. And i am trying to learn all that stuff.

I just got the car audio electronics magazine and it shows you how to mkae kickpanels and tweeter pods if i remember correctly. Also realmofexcursion has a good tutorial on how to make a pod for your tweeter. I am going to try it. Basically what i have found out is to make your mold or how you want it to look with cardboard or wood or even popsicle sticks and then you apply resin and then the fiber glass. tehn filler and you have to sand and all that. It seems really interesting i am going to go buy some stuff tommorow and start on something.

One more question (for now anyways) what is the actual fiberglass?

Is it the kitty hair mixed with something. Can you buy something that is just fiberglass and there you go. or what is it exactly.
