  1. A start indeed. Which is why I hope to get my Crossfire going soon.

Extreme budgeting is HUGE for me, simply because I'm saving literally nickels and dimes for gear.

The Kickers were in the door when I got my hands on the truck, and it had an aftermarket radio that got stolen, so I just found that laying around to replace it.

I may not have money, but I have determination.

  2. I wouldn't call this a build but it's definitely a good start. Let me know what you guys think. I've yet to determine the actual tuning of the box, because the ports are actually PVC tubing and I decided to change them just today, so it's actually louder than the video you'll see at the end of this post.

Here's the head unit and volt meter. Head Unit: Kenwood KDC-516S

Here's the sub amp, for now. Plan to upgrade it and use this for the mids and highs until it gets upgraded to a 5 ch, so I can use my midbass. Amp: Sony Xplod XM-1902GX

Here's the crossover unit that I got from a friend. Not bad for free, but I know there's better. Crossover: Legacy LXR-2A

Here's their location. Well hidden when the seat's up and usable. Also the amp doesn't get hot. It has breathing room behind the seat flap.

Factory Woofer, to be upgraded for midbass when I get the 5ch amp (hidden behind panel on passenger side in hatch).

Sub Enclosure (modified prefab with PVC ports LOL! Sounds better)

Yeah, Sub in hatch. Plenty of room for improvement, and you can see the flap I'm talking about, hiding the amp.

  3. Was bored. Had this POS 1800 Watt AL Audio amp, which I don't intend on using for anything more than toying around with) and anted to play with my crossfire a bit.

    Amp specs:

1800 Watts Max (You sure? LOL)

    450 Watts X2 @ 2 Ohms

    225 Watts x2 @ 4 Ohms

    900 Watts X1 @ 4 Ohms Bridged

2 30A Fuses (which makes me wonder about it's true RMS)

    and I did:

? Watts x2 @ 1 Ohm Unstable ('cause I could care less lol) Obviously I wouldn't run this for my crossfire permanently, for it's too insufficient and I really don't like it. Just bored.

I just had it on a 12v battery and played some tone generated notes from my iPhone.

Wish I had a DD-1 so I could see what it's distorting at and tune it better. The crossfire never bared any heat so that's a plus. Amp never got hot either.

I did run it in a car prior to this video on this amp and the amp still never ran hot, but that time, I bridged the amp at 2 ohms to the crossfire (series).

  4. All inverting the subs does, is gives more box volume because of loss of speaker displacement, which "in theory" makes the box "bigger" due to lack of displacement, but only that. I have seen a buddy invert his 10's and it did make them hit a bit differently, but I wouldn't say it was "louder". Maybe just more clear and deeper. Just my thought, but I'm not 100% knowledged on the subject.

And IMHO Being older means nothing. Hell, I just started researching car audio in depth when I turned 29... I'm 30 now and I don't know everything. I'm learning though :)

  5. Looking for a single DIN flip out head unit that flips down for a build/install. The vehicle it's going in is a 2001 Dodge Ram single cab. Reason a flip down is needed is because a flip-up obstructs the AC vents. If a flip down is not even possible, then so be it. Just wanting to ask. Tried googling and a bunch of flip ups came out of it. Maybe you guys might have beter ideas. Tried AUdiosavings and Sonicelectronix. Any suggestions would be great.

    Thanks.

  6. Looking for possibly someone who has used an 06 Grand Caravan with the preium OEM system that contains an overhead videoDVD monitor intergrated with the factory unit.

Wanted to know if there's ANY way I can intergrate that monitor with a double DIN head unit that has video out. Also need to know what monting kit I will need to install a double din. I keep trying to Google the answers but it keeps giving me years other than 2006.

    thanks.
