I'd go with the BLs cause I always want it louder. Bls more room for power upgrades. IMHO
The only problem with that is there is nearly a $300 difference in price just alone for the subs. I would have to get a more expensive amp and do all sorts of electrical upgrades.
-
It would be worth the extra money. and If you are going to run them at full power you are going to need electrical upgrades. Big 3, Upgraded battery, 1/0 everything.
So being a first timer here I should probably just go with the SSD's..?
Edit: I do not know what amp to get either. So if you guys could help me out that would be great.
-
I can't decide between the two and money IS a factor. So would it be worth it to go for the BL's?

I would like to buy (2) Fi BL 12" subs if anyone has them. They are just too expensive for me new to buy an amp for them also. So hopefully I can get them used.
Maybe if someone has (2) Fi SSD 12"'s I will buy those instead.
-
good choice on the switch. i have l7's curently and they sound like shit... they were free so who am i to complain
Yeah other people were saying the same thing it seems. So I guess learning from you guys is better than learning from experience since its a money issue.
-
Depends....before any plans you need to talk about electrica...u running on stock electrical?
Yeah I have stock. So I'll need an extra battery?
-
Yes. ^^^ and honestly i recommended 12s ...15s are a pain in the ass because of thoose trunk hinges that are in your way they limit space.
You're better off saving and be way more happy wit what you have then spending and be disappointed
So now that I found my subs, (2) Fi SSD12" 1000w RMS each.

Which amp do you guys suggest and do I want the 2 ohm or 1 ohm version of these subs?
I am so thankful for all of this help btw. You guys are the best.
-
yeah id get a 2k rms amp.
but if i were you id look around at different brands before you make a decision. l7 are good subs but you could get much better for the price.
id look into
they all make very quality subs, they will get louder and sound a hell of alot better then the l7s. they will also be cheaper.
Well i dunno about the fi subs.. I wish I could buy those. They are really expensive I thought.
Do you mean these? www.ficaraudio.com/sess/utn154ea8f8b00275d/shopdata/0050_Speakers/0040_SSD/product_overview.shopscript

you could get wayy better equipment for 1k then that. but if your set on that id look around for used you could get all that for around 500 or 600 and build your own box they will sound horrible in that prefab box.
Wow thanks, I definitely won't go with that kit then. So your saying put them in the trunk?
Btw, I found some cheaper. http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/Kicker-Subwoofer-Package-2-S15L7-4-Ohm-Subs
This way I can get my own box and amp for them. Or do I want to look for 2 ohm subs?
If anyone can find cheaper (2) 15" Kicker L7's that would be great too.
Thanks!
And one more thing. I would want a 2000w RMS @2 ohms amp for both of these correct? Or higher because of their peak?
Sorry for all of the questions. Just trying to learn
-
First off.. is this a good deal? I don't think the amp powers the subs fully though.
I am not sure where to place my subs. Either I put them in my trunk or put them facing up behind my back seats.
The problem with my trunk is that it is blocked completely by the back seat.
If I put them facing up how will I make them ported without carving into my seats -.-
Here are pictures of what my car looks like.
My trunk.

is the subs your buying dual 1ohm or dual 2ohm ?
They can be either. You can choose on their website if you want 1 or 2 ohm.
-
Just gotta measure how much 0 gauge you need and buy terminals.
So I want an extra battery, big 3, and a capacitor?
-
That would suffice, just make sure you have the electrical to support it. May not get exactly 3k out of it but for your budget, it fits.
So how much does it cost to do the big 3?
-
Doesn't look good, check this link out.

It's gonna be tough to find a true 3k watt RMS amp for under 400$. Audiopipe is probably the cheapest I would buy. Unless you look around and can find a good deal on a used one.
Yeah I was looking at that one too. What about this one? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_32979_Hifonics-HFi3000D.html
-
haha yeah they would, or if you save up a little a Crescendo 3k would make you very happy, i believe they are around 550. That Audiopipe will work fine tho aslong as you wired it up correctly.
Ill be sure to get it professionally wired by Perfect Soundz. What about a powerbass amp? Powerbass XA3000
-
The Audiopipe may be the way to go then. I will look around a little.
3000x1 @ 2 ohms means if you had 1 speakers ran at 2 ohms it would receive 3000 watts.
Since you're running 2 speakers at 2 ohms they will each receive half of that, so 1500 per sub.
I will look again to verify but I am pretty sure the 3k is just two 1500s strapped internally, or atleast they use to be, so you could run that amp at 1 ohm and get 1500 to each sub. I will check that tho, give me a sec.
Yes please check.
I was looking on youtube at some set ups and (2) RF T1500-1bd amps work perfect. Too bad i don't have the money for that lol.
-
What is your budget like? Maybe I missed it but yes definitely get 2 D4's and run at 1ohm. Depending on your budget, can then figure out an amplifier.
No more than $400 probably. And that's stretching it. :/
-
Thanks, I will look into those amps. I am a little confused with the amps though. http://www.audiopipe.com/products/amplifiers/ap/ap-30001d.html
3000W x 1 @ 2 Ohm Does this mean it will power only one sub at 3000w?
I will either have it set up behind the back seats or in my trunk.
Which do you guys prefer? I have pictures of both areas of my old Lexus.
-
I was going to buy (2) Fi BL either 12" or 15" subs. They are both 1500 RMS at 2 ohms. So together they are 3000 RMS. Where can I buy a cheap amp to power 3000w RMS at 2 ohms? Or am I mistaken and it needs to be 1500w at 2 ohms?
