when i put my new subs and amp i will get this figured out. i went and checked and my memory is still on so im good to roll. thanx for guide me threw this to at least get me rolling till winter hits.
edit on this i didnt get it fixed. my equalizer resets and my cd starts over but the color i set my deck stayed on lol thats the least important thing.

We've had problems with gmrc's and video decks, especially flip outs. Im pretty sure int hat car, the radio is powered through the amp, which in turn is powered through the gmrc, and it ends up being a load of current. 99% of the time that we've done it, we put a relay triggered by the acc wire to the radio, with the outpout to the radio's red, and the input tied into the constant.
alot of times the gmrc/os unit just shorts itself out and kills the battery, it may be worth trying, but it seems more like the factory amp is blown honestly
damn sorry i didnt even see your post. im still fighting the problem i will give that a try if i dont get this figured out.

i guess that what it boils down too. but i got my setting all fine tuned and it sounds so much better. if it eliminates my problem then screw it i guess. do you see a down fall in this beside it stayin on in less i pull out the face or turn it off.
-
maby im saying this wrong let me try agian the yellow off the headunit and wire harness are twisted together then the red from the headunit and the harness are twisted together the i put all 4 of those wires in one connection so there all touching. my car hasnt blown up yet lol. does that sound right.
-
yea both reds and yellow are all in one connection. this is what i did on my 79 elco and it worked but i wasted messin around with all this other stuff. the stereo stays on with out the keys in ignition, but is not a problem cus some of my old scoo cars done that and i take the face out when i park it so i should be good. i guess ill see in the morning.
-
so i got around to getting the red and yellow wires together and so far so good it dont pull no extra amps with the car off. i will wait till the morning to see if it starts and holds my memory and then get back to you.
-
on my older cars i used to just tie the yellow and red wire together at the deck and harness to fix this problem. i just didnt know with all the computer stuff if i should be doing that. ill try it and see if that work just wierd how the famtory amp is pullin all that power.

That's my problem when I take it out. It works perfect but my memory dony stay when I turn off the car. That's how I have been Rollin for the past month. I would really like to fine tune my system but evet time I shut the car off my settings erase with out the fuse in.

sorry for the delay but i got the data i pulled the fuses and this is how it reed. keep in mind this is the factory amp and stereo fuse and im talking about.
2.10 with amp fuse IN and stereo fuse IN
2.10 with amp fuse IN and stereo fuse OUT
0.58 with amp fuse OUT and stereo fuse IN
now i guess i need to know what the hells up with the factory amp or need a diagram of that circuit.
-
thanx alot will do. got a few other things to do today so im not sure if ill get to it today. but i will put an update up.
-
let me know i can tell you a way to check current draw with your dmm if u dont figure anything out
hell yea im will try anything to get this fixed.
-
well i put the 40 amp fuse for the factory amp back in 2 days ago and let the car sit snd its completly dead. does any one have acsess to a wire diagram for that circut.
-
ill give you an update tommorow. i put the fuse and the headunit back in. if it dont start tommorow after 2 days of sitting witch ussally drains the battery all the way down i will do some more testing.
-
yea i never use a test light always my dmm. i think the harness made this install idiot proof my just matching the colored wires to each other. so i must be doing somthing wrong.
-
do i need that haness that goes all the way back to the factory amp even though i replaced my door speaker and are running them with an aftermarket amp.
-
i dont know if you can tell anything from these pics put the is the harness i got.
the harness that plugs into my facotry harness
then my after market harness goes to this from the factory harness then threw this it goes to my headunit.
here the whole setup if you notice the yellow, red. and black were unplugged for testing.
-
i did some testing and on my yellow off the harness i have constent power and red has power on ingnation and the what the headunit says also. so im lost.
-
sounds good i will get that head unit pulled out when i get some time
