Use a dmm and.check coils.
Don't light press the cone down in the center to check, push hard
Had to work today, my father knows a guy who owns a shop and took it to him. My fathers not exactly an expert so I was told that one of my coils is blown. Idk how the hell it happened, I didn't think i was over powering them... Apparently one coil still workes.
What exactly does this mean for me? Should i pursue a recone?
Whats worse is I purchased them from sonicelectronix, i'm almost positive they aren't an authorized alpine dealer...so...fuck.
Anyway, should i just run the one coil, try and it get it fixed...or what?
I checked the jumper cables, they were fine. I'll check the cone again Larry.

How did you "check the gains?"
I mean i don't have the SMD DD-1 or a O-scope, but i meant i visually looked and saw they were where i set them. The gain is set to about 3.5/11.
bump for helppp

Alright guys, got a bit of a pickle. The past day or so i noticed my subs weren't hitting as hard as usual. My subs are not even a month old. Checked gains and all that stuff, it was fine. I pulled over off the road because i knew something was up, and one of my Type R's wasn't moving at all.
I checked all my connections, to and from the amp/speaker, inside the box. Checked the terminals by hooking up the wires to the non working speaker to the working. Everything is fine except for the fact that the sub isn't working.
I don't believe the sub is blown, i lightly pressed down on it and didn't hear any scraping, and it felt like just the right amount of push. I don't have a digital multimeter on hand, so i can't check the resistance.
What else can i check? IDK how to get to the fuses on my Rockford 1500bd.
My system.
Pioneer AVH-P4200dvd
Focal solid 4
Rockford 1500bd
Focal 165 components
Focal 165 co-ax
Alpine Type R 1223(x2)
Sealed pre-fab box.
Oh and a distribution block, the sub has a 100a fuse and the 4ch has a 60a.
Any help is appreciated!

Damn that's a really cool idea! You get to see all different types of stuff. I hope everyone abides by the honor system .
1 out of 2 Alpine Type R 1223 stops working

Yeah i definitely thought that, the guy from the shop told my dad it was all kosher to run one coil...
Regardless, i think that the sub was defective, i mean the other sub is completely fine and i know i wasn't giving them too much power... I'm gonna try to get it exchanged.
Thanks for your guys' help, at least i still have one working sub for some thump!
