  1. then again this is one of those "if you need to ask" situation. if you dont have experience with overpowering a sub then i would recommend not giving it more than 850rms

well i already had the amp thats why so i was wondering if the sa-12 could take 1000w because it was on sale and fit the budget i was in, and the main reason i heard all the good reviews on it and how it had underrated rms power

  2. Maybe if you only have room for 1 12 and not 2, there is a possibility you can fit 1 15 back there just to take advantage of all the airspace you can. A SA-15 or an OA-15 are easily inside of your budget and are probably your best bang for the buck

I already pulled the trigger on a 12" sa-12 so later on when i save up ill put run flats on again and put 2 12's in a box possibly, thats the only problem bmw doesn't have a tire hole, so my spare chills in the trunk and after some calculations and box sizes i figured a 12 would fit just perfect, i just need to figure out the right f^3 to give me the most oomph to get the sound into the driver area with bmw and their sealed trunks.

  3. if this 400-500 budget is just for sub and amp I would recommend DC lvl 3, sundown SA-12, skar audio vvx-12, obsidian, with this amp http://www.audioque.com/AQ750-Amplifier_p_46.html, in a proper ported enclosure should sound great and give you that bump that you're looking for.

this guy took the words right outa my mouth. go with the skar vvx12 n the aq750.off the chain buddy

Yea i got the SA-12 now just need a box any suggestions? I listen to rap/hip hop little bit techno/dub step, Im looking for a lot of bass. Do you know what kind of f^3 i should be looking at? It will be running at 900-1000 watts

  4. i own a 328i but I'm not sure how different electrical wise they are but if you go here http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1721 I'm not sure if i can post links to other forums if so ill take it down but scroll down to electronics and you will find a lot of diy's on how to wire and what not and if you search there have been people that have replaced all the speakers in their bmw. again for the 328i but that website also has other forums for the 5 series so maybe you can find something for your car

  5. I wish i could fit 2 subs right now but because of space restrictions i figured id go with one 12" to give me the most power for the space i had :P

also if anyone knows 1 sa-12 at 1k watts what kind of box would i be looking at, i listen to a lot of hip hop/rap some techno and because the bmw's are sealed so much the more bass out of the box the better. after looking it says

    1.75f^3 at 30Hz

    1-1.5f^3 at ?Hz

    or also 2.0f^3 at 35Hz

all ported boxes or is there a better one that i should be looking at in terms of f^3 and the right Hz for it running at 1000w and get the most out of it?

  6. unfortunately with the car i have i only have room for 1 12" for now maybe later down the road ill do something like this http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=610976 so i bought 1 SA-12 4ohm and my friend gave me his MB Quart ONX1.1500D, so ill have to run it at 1000 watts which by reading a whole lot on the internet if i set everything correctly it should be able to handle it and if i do get another SA-12 down the road that amp will be able to handle both at 1k watts,

thanks all for your input it helped me greatly

  7. well i have this amp http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23875_MB-Quart-ONX1.1500D.html#tabs and pulled the trigger on the 4ohm sa-12 figuring if i have room in the future to add another, but were talking 6-12 months, it is going to be "professionally installed" and tuned as i don't want to have to deal with all the electrical components of the bmw.

    the specs say

    1.75 ft^3 ported tuned to 30 Hz -- F3 of 26 Hz

    * Tune higher and use a smaller box for more SPL oriented setup (Use 1 - 1.5 cubes)

    * Enclosure can be as big as 2.25 ft^3 with lower power levels

so if say i found a box like http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_19279_Sonic-Sub-Box-1SV12-Black-Carpet.html

says 1.8F^3 would that be good? or do you recommend something different for 1k w?

  8. so if I've looked correctly if i were to get this

    http://www.soundsolu...-SA%252d12.html

    could i get this

    http://www.sonicelec...1500D.html#tabs

and run it at 2ohms or would that be too much power?

    Easy with proper set gains.

word. thank you ill probably go with this set up unless someone gives other ideas that may be better :P

and just to be sure if i were to go with this setup running it at 2 ohm 1k watts id buy the 4ohm sub?

  9. Hi all I'm new here and thought id ask a question for the more "advanced" audio gurus than i am. I own a 07' bmw 328i and am looking to add a sub to it. Price range? 400-500 dollars for a sub and an amp combined, yes I know cheap but I think i can get a decent startup for that price. I want it to bump obviously, and there are 2 problems i run into.

    1. Space, i have a spare tire in the trunk because i don't have run flats and i don't want to take it out

    2. I don't have fold down seats and or a ski boot so ill be cutting a whole like this http://forum.e90fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=743046 to get some more sound into the car

After i did some measurements i figure i can fit 1 12" with an enclosure, i was looking at maybe a rockford fosgate T0d212 or T0d412 but i feel like you guys can give me a better insight on what to purchase to get the best bang for my buck.

It will be greatly appreciated and any type of help will be of value as I'm pretty sure 95% of you are smarter when it comes to audio, as I'm just getting into it.

    Thank you in advance
