  1. yeah i had this same problem with my moms amp on her c230 lol.

good luck dude we ended up taking it to a benz dealership and having a new one put in

also cool u got a c230 also my mom has a 2003 sport coupe with kompressor engine <_<

but hey if you need know anything about that car putting a system in let me know.

ohh by the way ray is right on 1000+ atleast...

Thanks man...everyone i have been talking to has been saying that the dealer is gonna charge me atleast $1,000. That is ridiculous for a crappy sounding factory stereo! It wasnt even loud and when the volume was turned up, the high's would distort and it just sounded like garbage!

I told my girl that if this $300 replacement dont work, we are just gonna put in a good sounding system. Why not for $1,000...you know?

  2. My girlfriend has a 2006 Mercedes C230. A while back she went through a car wash and the sound system stopped working. After some testing, we found out that it is a fiber optic system and everything still functions correctly some water somehow got inside and shorted out the factory amp in the back.

Anybody have any idea where i can get a used one? I have been calling around to local junkyards but havent had any luck.

She is not interested in installing a new system, but we might not have any other choice.

  3. ALTERNATOR: Ohio Generator 200 amp High Output alt. Purchased in May '09

VEHICLE: Was in a '03 Nissan Altima, but will work in any vehicle with a custom bracket.

AUDIO: Was running 2 JL 13w7's and 2 JL 1000/1's off of this alternator and it worked like a dream

    ASKING PRICE: $300 plus shipping

I paid $525 + shipping for this back in May '09, i still have the receipt. My car broke down on me, so i stripped all the audio equipment and got rid of the car.

I still have the Ohio Generator Factory Test Report (pictured below) and i'll send it with the alternator.

  4. I want some suggestions from people that really know what chopped and screwed is...

man, it got ugly in here REAL QUICK HAHAH...anyway, you should try to find DJ Screw's "3 in the mornin" series. i still bang them on my ZUNE every now and then. there are four all together, RED 1 & 2, and BLUE 1 & 2. lots of good jams and mixing by the legend himself, tupac, too short, dr. dre, ant banks, the list goes on...hope i helped ;)

  5. i started helping out around my Dad's shop when i was in the 5th grade, he's a mechanic, granted i was only doing little things like sweeping floors and stocking shelves, but it taught me how to save and the value of working for something you want, not waiting for handouts. i turned 18 july 2000, by november 2000 i moved out. waaaay out and was on my own. i still go home to visit like once a year ;)

  6. Demonstr8,

Good luck with the alt, im sorry i didn't see this sooner... I would of gotten you a quote within a couple hours. :-\

It's all good bro...i just had to jump on sumn quick. the ol' factory one wasnt cuttin' it. i've been takin it easy on the replacement, and i cant take it anymore!!

As far as the "ALTERNATOR WAR" i started in this thread...it's different strokes for different folks, you know. some like pepsi's and some like cokes ;)

  7. Nice one. Did you look anywhere else? Iraggi or Mechman?

i got a quote from MECHMAN, they offered the same alt (direct bolt on and direct plug, 200a) for a lil bit cheaper, but not in stock and it woulda took a couple weeks before they coulda shipped it.

i tried calling a few different number's for IRAGGI and DOM and left some messages with what i was looking for, but didnt get through to anyone.

i called back to OHIO GEN and gave them the green light :) my alt will be shipped off first thing tomorrow.
