  1. ok so right now I'm about to be just running 2200w from a diehard platinum marine battery under the hood and gna upgrade my big 3 and get a 270A alt from mechman. but I plan to eventually upgrade to maybe as much as 8kw out of a pair of SQ 3500s. at that point I'm sure a 270A alt and a single battery wouldn't be enough to run both of those amps. possibly not even one of them. how big a battery would I need to run 1 of these amps and how big for 2 of these amps?

I don't completely understand atm how the amp hours and stuff like that converts to be able to tell how much it would take to handle how much power yet that's why I'm asking.

  2. if you came up with numbers that would help. I can imagine trying to send the precut wood for you to build your own box might be kinda pricy though so that's why I said it would be good for you to try to get the wood and do it yourself with a cut sheet... if you do have the wood work shop like we had on every base I've been on there should be a guy there that if you take him the wood and the cut sheet he should be more than willing to help you get good cuts and put it together.

  3. Welcome John.. Try calling Sonic Electronix they should be able to help you with the shipping through USPS. Do FedEx and UPS not deliver to that base?? Since you have the RF R400.4 then you might as well get a RF Prime or Punch amp for the subs,I would recommend the Punch though. Or get a Hifonix if you're wanting to go cheap with it. There's many options on the subs,if you want to stay with RF then the P2's would be a good choice or even the P3's,they'll both get down pretty good.Audio Savings has a deal for 2 of the P2's and SE will price match them, they did it for me but I changed my mind on getting them.

I ordered the RF400D and JL C3-650's from Sonic about 10 days ago... Today I just got in the mail the head unit and speaker wire so just missing the amp and JL's and a sub of some sort...

    >>I would think a pair of some Sundown Audio E series subs would be small enough power to not get you in trouble but still be enough power that if you want to you can bump it up and rattle some cages... stick those on a SoundQubed 750 should sound nice.

I checked out both the subs and amp you mentioned and as for the cost that are well within my budget... But the other missing part of the puzzle is a box of some sort to put a pair of 12's in... I might end up getting a prefab style box... Unless I can find someone that can send a "kit" and I build it here...

    John

it's kinda dangerous to say on this forum "I might end up getting a prefab box" lol prefab boxes are not worth much more than a good place to relieve your feces around here... you should probably have a wood shop around the bass somewhere though and plenty of ppl around here can mock up specs for a box that you could cut and put together yourself it's not all that dificult... I'll see what I can come up with and send you a cut sheet if you like

how much space are you willing to give up?

  4. Hello All, My name is John and I live down in Guantanamo Bay Cuba on the navy base... I found the forum a while back while checking a few videos on youtube... As for my plans I have a 2001 S10 Blazer Xtreme that I bought here on the base and am looking to build a small system compared to most of what you run here... The major issue I have is the base is rather small and has the small town mind set so with that being said I have to tread lightly when and where to bass it up... So for my build I will be doing something that can be enjoyed inside but can also kick it up a notch if needed... I have a list in my sig that i am sure folks will make fun of but as I said earlier just can't go as big as I would like here...

Thanks for your time, and look forward to reading and learning lots...

    John

  5. lol I been on here for a really long time but just noticed this thing... I'm John found out about this site from the same person that got me started on subs by selling me his first pair when he upgraded and they wound up sounding better in my car than in his lol granted they were some cheap Boss 12s in a xXx prefab box running on a kenwood 1000w peak 300w rms amp so they weren't actually all that great either way lol but to us it sounded AMAZING. Now I'm currently running a pair of APX TXX 15s soon to be on a Q1-2200D amp and already have plans once I have the money to upgrade to a pair of HDC312s and a Q1-3500D... I built the box that my 15s are currently in and I plan on building the box that my 12s will go in too once I get them.

  6. Running IE on my work computer (I know IE sucks but it's all I got at work) and still takes forever to load stuff sometimes and my browser always resets for a split second when I go back to the home screen... but it's IE and it's a really old computer on a sketchy internet connection so it might just be that and have nothing to do with the forum... to my knowledge I don't have that problem with any other websites though so might be a problem with the forum just running too much data and it confuses the browser lol

  7. Hey guys thanks for the votes!

    Steve,

Ive been a fan of your YouTube videos for a long time now. I've lurked on the forum for a while before I decided to make an account. I've had an interest in car audio for years and finally have some of the funds I need to support it and take it seriously.

For all its worth I'm not a spammer, I don't care to sale either. About a week ago I had the flu and had to take off work, so I did not have too much to do laying in bed, so I decided to stay on SMD to learn more about audio, needless to say I've learned quite a lot. Also my new years resolution was to cut the drinking way down. When your withdrawing you have to keep your mind busy or you think you'll go crazy. I appreciate all the support i've received on here. There are some great guys!

I appreciate you restoring my post count, I noticed it dropped down to 100somthing, I assumed it was a warning and to cool the posts a little.

I would have made this post earlier but I somehow overlooked this thread until today.

well good luck man on the cutting back drinking and great to hear you're learning alot on here :-) I'm working on trying to learn as much as I can too and wish I had more funds so I could actually try out some of the stuff I'm learning about but in the mean time I'm just asking questions and learning what I can

  8. He seems legit, I know how it is to be real sick, I usually sit on the computer all day too.

He is also collecting a lot of intel on ideas he has, and when he finalizes what he plans on doing, seems like he will already have his shit together for a build.

Same here. I'm trying to absorb what I read.

lol yea I do alot of posting and asking questions about builds and subs and amps and trying to collect intel on this stuff so I can know as much as possible about it for when I finally do get around to actually being able to do it too but man this dude is an animal I barely just recently hit 100 posts and I'm on here all day 2-3 days a week posting stuff asking how to do stuff and what to do and what to use and what would be best

  9. Hey i have 2 xl 15s dual 2s. One is in need of a recone and the other one works perfects. i will sell for 500 for the pair plus shipping

it will be at least after the new year before I will actually be able to have the kinda money to buy some of those, and I don't know how to recone or anything like that. But we will see what I can scrounge up over Christmas and hopefully we can talk then if you still got them.

  10. I'm hoping to get my hands on a pair of DC Lvl 4 or XL 15" subs. I'm on the poor side but I'm workin on saving up for them so if anyone has some they wana get off their hands let me know how much and I'll see if I can scrounge together the scrap.

If ya got anything else of equal caliber you could also hit me up about that preference is the DCs but I'll take anything thats got some good quality and can handle true 1800+ RMS. I was pushing some Lanzar MAXP154D for all of about 20 mins and fried them while I was still tryina tune the amp couldn't even get it tuned. had some great volume goin while it lasted even at like 50% amp strength but after just a few mins of adjusting the settings on the amp tryina get it right I looked back and my trunk was smoking like a chimney.
