  1. it rattles like crazy. before i put deadner in there you from far away the rattling was nearly louder then the bass and you could hear it rattle inside the car if you had a window down.

That sucks. I hate rattle. I an deadener is not cheap. I guess I'll have to ride that horse when it arrives. & I wish it had speakers in the rear doors. They make custom car audio for everything except a Taurus. I need someone to hit it and collect. lol

  2. yeah get the line converter i had to pay like $160 just for the dash kit for mine.

no idk what that 130 db thing is lol. i never got it metered but the car does hold up pretty good with bass. well except the trunk lid. you are gonna diffidently want some deadner on that.

Oh ok, maybe that db thing is the amount of activity you have on here.. *shrug* anywho what the hell is up with the drunk lid? did it rattle or it starts to bend?

  3. nevermind that torres calc i posted would be perfect for your subs. for somereason i thought i seen that they like 1.5 ported. just be sure if you do build that to add some internal bracing.

So for instance if the sub is naturally tuned @ 33Hz, i'd set my sub sonic filter to say.....26Hz?... And my subs should be able to take between 600-1000rms a piece & I'm going to push them with an amp that would push around 1500rms so I should be safe right.(in case I'm not awesome on the knob)

    Thanks

no you set your ssf based on what your box is tuned too not the fs of the sub. and those obsidians will eat up that 1500 rms all day long as long as it isnt clipped.

Ok thanks I hope they do too. That means I could sell the amp & uprade. & any box suggestions?

actually i just built my box for my 2 skar 12s. ill post my torres calc. your obsidians should do pretty good in it too. Untitled-1.jpg

edit: i just remembered that obsidains like smaller boxes so this might not be the best for you. unless you feel like doing alot of bracing.

Hey, I just noticed you have a Taurus as well. From your info., I'm assuming that your eletrical system is stock. Are you having any light dimming issues or battery drainage? I'd really like to see your setup if possible.

    Thanks

i used to have the taurus i just got a different car though. i dont have any pics of my old system though. they have a 110 amp alt iirc. all i did was upgrade my battery ground and my lights dimmed pretty bad to 900 rms @ idle. but it would stay above 13 volts and lights dont dim too much while driving. these cars are a bitch to do anything on im so glad i got a new car. but if you have any questions i can most likely answer them.

Oh ok. And I have no mean which to build a box, so I'm looking for someone to build it. And yea I thought they would dim. I agree, I never liked these cars. I only have it because my parents & grandparents got it so I could go to school. Not caring about the fact that "I" bought a car that "I" liked. Anywho, I'm thinking of making using my stock tape deck as well. I'm going to use a line converter. And the 2-5.25 + 2-5x8's suck. Also, did you really get 130db? Or is that something else?

    Thanks for your help man.

  5. he's joking. i thought it might be a typo and meant 40 hz, but his current box is tuned to 31 hz. please don't try to tune a box to 4 hz lol

and please don't buy a random box and call it a day

I was hoping so. I've never seen that number. & Yes I'm thinking 33Hz. So my entire box would need to be tuned to the 33Hz and each sub chamber should be 1.75ft^3? Making the entire box 3.5ft^3?

    Recommended enclosure info: Sealed ~ 1.0 to 1.5 ft^3 Ported ~ 1.75 to 2 ft^3 @ 30 to 35 Hz Cutout: 11.10" OD: 12.5" Mounting depth: 6.75" Mounting flange to top of surround: 1.25" Displacement: 0.16 ft^3

  8. Ok I'm not familiar at all with box tuning. I own a 2005 Ford Taurus & I plan on acquiring a box that would house two of these subs. I am hoping not to kill all of my trunk space as well, but I believe as long as I can easily remove it, I'll be satisfied. For example. Would I have a box with seperate sub chambers. Each tuned to the specs & dimensions listed below? Also, kinda off topic for this post, but since the frequency response is 33Hz; do is that what I would set my amp to?

Thanks All Help & info is appreciated
