Do you have a stock alt? and 3 batts would be better then 2 but i guess not really needed if your not loosing and voltage with a good alternator then stick with 2. I use 2 on my system and i only have a 1200watt RF amp.

That sucks bro, i hope everything turns out for the better. Our principal passed last year due to some type of cancer.. the last everyone seen of him was when he visited to school one last time from an ambulance. Everyone acted like they didn't care.. i didn't really know the guy as it was only my 2nd year there and he was gone half that year due to sickness. Plus i don't talk to the principal, as like cops, most the time you talk to them it's because you are in trouble lol. but it was still kinda sad for awhile..

you want SPL, or it to be loud to ear?
edit:
that AQ2200 would be good for 2 level 3s, it is too much for 1, unless you adjust the gain accordingly.
level 4m2 is a much better option and would take all of it like a champ
well i don't plan on taking it to any comps or anything so long as its loud to ear i guess exact numbers don't matter.. but im gonna do all i can to get everybit out of it.
And to all, i never planed on running the amp full gain. the only reason i wanted the 2200 is for future builds..

Who told you they can take 2200rms "with ease"?
Save your money. Then buy an m2 Level 4 w/ level 5 upgrade. Or an m1 XL. That is, if you wanna stay with DC.
haha they never said the 2200... but they've said they handle more then rms.

I would go with the new level 4 if you wanna run that much power. Then get in touch with RAM-designs for an enclosure and check out fecupe's SPL gains thread. That will really be the most helpful and utilize your budget the best
Thanks man, i was really thinking on steping down to the 1200 but i kinda wanted to see how well the lvl 3 could take the 2200.. which from what i herd they can take a good amount with ease.. im cutting the budget close with the lvl 3.. i doubt i can afford a lvl 4.

Hey guys, so im looking on starting my new build in my 03 explorer, im looking at a $800 sub and amp budget... and want to get the absolute most spl out of my system. This is what im leaning on right now... 1 DC lvl 3 15 on a AQ2200d.. also with ur suggestions add box suggestions.
Current electrical: Stock 100a alt, Big3, 2 yellow tops, and 1 Duralast Gold also a couple marine batterys if needed.. but i didn't plan on using them
Dimensions: 41D 33W 20H
EDIT: Not planning on running the 2200 full gain on the lvl 3.. ofc it can't handle it, just wanted to go ahead and get it for future builds. Also im not stuck on DC, i'd be happy with any sub as long as they pounded for my price range

the audioque 2200d is 1ohm stable.. the kicker2500 is only 2 ohm stable.. but for 350 it'd be a deal.. btw you can read the specs on the audioque here: http://www.audioque.com/AQ2200D-Amplifier_p_31.html

Start off on a little cheaper side... Get some nice (not $400 each) 15's if you like and a good amp to power then.. throw a battery or two in the back.. the thing is in a couple months/year or so your gonna wanna change ur set up anyways.. this is almost promised with no matter what you get.. (unless you have like a 150-160 set up) even then you still may change ur mind on ur equipment. i haven't been here long but one thing i have learn car audio is all about trial and error.. find something you don't like.. try again, and a again, and again, and again, and.....

i had 2 jl w0 15's in the trunk of my 96 mustang.. sounded great also a couple set of 12's both fit and sounded good.

the coils are dead on .5 ohm. voltage stays in the 14's. but the amp goes into protect then if u turn it down a little bit it comes back on. i think its the amp. i have looked at it personaly thats all i can come up with
i've been having the same problem with a jl 500/1 amp.. everything checks out fine. but when u turn it a little to loud it will shut off, then cut back on once u turn it down.. if u find the answer please post it.

mind me asking how much u paid for the 2 new? im just curious as to what the price on the XL's are new. i can't find a price anywhere =/
Help building a DJ system!

Ok, so i've helped a couple of my friends install system in there vehicles and my buddy who DJ's wanted me to build him a set up. He currently uses a Bass cabinet he use to use when he played bass with 4 10's in it... thing gets down but really just not enough mids and highs and one of the 10's is blown. Im really wanting to help him have a BADASS set up cause house partys with him there is just awesome. Anyways my main problem is how to power the subs and speakers. never did or looked up anything to do with home audio or anything like that so im kinda lost on the situation. If anyone would help shine a little light on whats good equipment to use to power his setup or send links to stuff that would work, I'd appreciate it. Btw, (being a basshead) i want him to be boooooming so i went with 2 15's for the lows, and need about 400w per sub...
