  1. Seeing as amplifiers put out
    "x" @ 1 ohm
    "x" @ 2 ohms
    "x" @ 4 ohms and so on,
When apply a DD-1 to your amplifier you eliminate that ohm system, seeing as you crank the head-unit AND gain to reach a clipping LED and then back it off.

With that being said WHERE does the power go, Lets take this to a bigger scale. In the form of using a 5-9k watt amplifier. Where does all the power being generated from the amplifier go? I certainly know my DD-1 does not make any kind of noise when i set my gains ;)

My DD-1 works fine i set gains with it often, but wouldn't you think over time couldn't this burn someones amp up (via heating up the internals because the power generated has no where to go?) Just want to know if there could be any problems behind the tool / Internals that reduce the wattage, not starting a hate/bash thread in any means just interested in where the power goes :)

    Thanks!

  2. Just like DRC said it really depends if you need every ounce of space or not. Look at my build log and see kinda how I went about it. Build log is in sig by the way.

I def like the way that box looks aha, esp with the big all thread bar through it ! got any numbers with it yet or not yet?

Day 1 numbers were 148.9...a few weeks ago after some tweaks and sealing off the sides of the wall from the trunk I did a 151.8 burp. Will do a 150.3 on music.

I want to wall but i need to sell my W6's first haha broke my bank and barley make prolly 100db lol

  3. For a trunk car non-sealed up yes port back is loudest most of the time.

The car it is going in was never mentioned so I just did that port to cover a lot of applications :P

Thats fine! :) I was just making sure, makes perfect sense. one day you will have to teach me to use google sketch up like that! haha

and im assuming the bottem piece is 30x18 aswell?

Yep, bottom piece is 18x30 making it one of the walls for the port. And google sketchup is very easy just make the dimensions of your piece of wood then use the 'push/pull' button and do .75 (or whatever thickness your wood is)

Ive played with it but getting the dimensions of the box was what was holding me up, im sure id do decent if i had a set of dimensions... and knew how to read them lol

  5. Doing something like this would be easy to make, decent for two 10s, and would probably fit in most trunk cars.

Oh and one sheet of MDF.

That is honestly awesome, some day i will have to learn how to draw the box like that, port out the side, wouldnt port out the back be best? (Not arguing with your box design but its what i hear)

  6. you need to set your gains right, then you probably won't blow your subs so much.

download torres calculator and play around with that.

    definitely go ported

I wish specs were giving to me like how your avatar is im terrible at designing anything haha. let alone how to read specs i don't know which length is which.. :P Not ment to be in the box building industry just doing it for fun. Who knows this could be my thing!!!

EDIT: I only blew one memphis but thats because i had the wrong box ( throw them in the old one with not enough space (sealed)

  7. Those dimensions are for the port, the box can be any dimensions it just says 1.5 cubes gross.

    Do ported, it's worth it.

How much power are you going to run those subs on, and what kind of music do you listen to?

Rap, but im just building something to sound decent for a little and then sell to a friend, im not worried about low tuneing i just need it to be impressing to the ears and last awhile so my friend dont complain they blew , and a 500.1 amp

I wish i could put my 1200.1 amp on them and blow em to pieces tho haha

  8. The subs are 2 PR10D4V2 Memphis... i am making my first box ever gonna start out with the recommended box for slot port,

    http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/documents/2012%20Enclosure%20RecommendationsCONSUMERS.pdf

    PR10D4V2/0 12cf/250w/2 1.50cf gross/10.5”x1.25”x15.5”/42Hz

Is the 10.5 x 1.25 x 15.5 the total box length? im lost maybe i should start with a sealed box :P! any help is needed and throw some tips at me!
