there isn't room on the back seats, if i cn get them to replace im prolly gonna just sell everything and go from there
-
i know he's right, but seriously he wouldn't be in the best mood either if a 600 dollar amp fried on him. but then again i guess i shouldnt have but the amp there in the first place, but i didn't have anywhere else to put it. :\
-
you said 2 mounting feet broke off , that might be considered "physical damage" which makes it very iffy imo as to if you will be able to get this fixed under warranty
thats really gonna suck if they wont cover it, that'd be 639 bucks shot all to hell.
-
well will the place i bought it from replace it..?
how should we know? call them and ask
geez do you always have to have a snobby reply when you say something? i was just wondering if stuff like that would be covered..

how could the amp have shaken so much it would've burn it up? did i shake the wires inside of it lose or something?
-
yeah i think that coulda been the problem, cause the box flexed on the side the amp was mounted to really bad, and we had to put an extra brace inside the box, and put extra mounts on the bottom of the amp cause the 2 of them broke off.. it shook the amp bad enuff to wear you could hear it flapping from the front seat. you could also hear some kinda slamming noise on the box too..
-
i guess, but i dont think the voltage couldve been too bad, i have a 250amp alt, and 2 extra batteries, big 3, all 1/0g wires..
-
the voltage was exactly at 14 the whole time. according to the stock meter..
-
okay so my gain was just a tad over half, so i turned the gain down cause i thought that had something to do with the protection light.. it still came on. i have the ground coming from the amp, to the battery in the back, under the seat to the chassis.
-
2 ohm load on the amp..
-
"HAD" a zx2500.1 amp on 2 15" l7s, while i was playing them the protection light would come on when i went over half on the bass knob, so i turned the radio off and back on and it kept doing it.. so i turn it off again, and then when i turn it back on the woofers made a popping noise while the amp was on, but no music was playing. turned it back off then back on again and boom i hear a big shock sound, and the whole amp goes in smoke and smells like shit. i guess im having bad luck with this crap, what all could make an amp do this?
-
whenever i listen to it, yeah.
-
i live in kentucky, and the subs are 2 ohm dvc, running on a 2 ohm load to the amp.
-
Bass boost plus sub level at plus 15 equals problems. Turn the sub level down...bass boost OFF..and turn the gain on ur amp up. To push those sibs the gain should be AT least half way up. And make sure they are wired correctly.
wrong.. having the hu level at 15 gives the most voltage to my amp.
-
i mean if i set the gains with it. i have to turn the gain past half way before they get loud without bass boost, and im sure that's probably clipping it when the gain is up that high?
-
"That METER",... can i ask what meter?... multi meter? scope? or do you or your buds have a DD-1?
no, but maybe the local audio shop does.. i'll see.
-
im not no idiot. i mean, im pretty experienced with this stuff, but i've used bass boost on all my other systems and never had a problem, and without bass boost on the amp the system isnt loud so its like you guys are saying not turn it all the way up and play them as loud as they should be played?
-
Ok,
Altima is with it....
Your 17, and we are glad your with the SMD comunity... welcome. What i'd like to see, is, you take the advice....that im sure is directly coming.
You have some really decent gear, and im stoked to see you even invested in a HO altly. Good on ya.... but, i think more tools are needed for some help in correcting the issue bro.
Thanks bro, i have one of the nicest systems here where i live if not the nicest. But when i set the gains with that meter, not using bass boost.. They still wont be loud at all?
-
ok, its cool. Everyone might go ape shit on this. But, stay with us.... this may get a little bit involved. Can i ask what your other gear is? Is the boost your using on your amp or HU? or both?
Kranny are you still here? wanna help the man out?
The sub level on the hu is +15 (highest) and the boost is the bass boost on the amp.
-
Well id love to know why these things keep blowing,, cause it really sucks paying 80 bucks to ship the fuckers back and get a replacement
-
and
ill toss it out there first........ how are you setting your gains?
I adjust the gain til' i hear distortion, and when it's at the right level with the bass knob. (where it's not full blast without the bass knob turned)
Till you hear distortion?
yeah til i hear distortion when i open the hatch and stand next to the subs.
-
They're rated for 1000 rms a piece, the amp is around 2500 rms at 2 ohm.. my electrical is 2 deka batteries, and a dc power 250 amp alt. big 3, all 1/0 wires
