Hey guys, I was just wondering how to figure out how low a song hits, so I don't damage my subwoofers.
The song I was wondering about is My shit Bang - E-40.
Thanks

Looking for anyone really close to the St. Louis, MO area. Please let me know. Thanks.
-
Thanks man.No. I have an L port...it doesn't affect sound quality at all.
-
Will the sound waves bounce off the L port and mess up the sound? -
RIP. Dick Clark's New years rockin' eve will be aired from heaven now. Fly high!
-
hey man for this box am I supposed to have those piece of wood in the corners of the inside of the box? To deflect sound or is it fine without those?Edit: Called baffles maybe?
-
OH YEAH, That is perfect my good sir, I can't thank you enough man! Sorry for taking time away from you lol. -
Hell ya man, thanks. But I can hardly read it, but I probably can figure it out.
-
To be honest, I really don't know, I think I was wasted and he was sober and so on.....why didn't you measure your own trunk...
Thanks man, sorry for the inconvenience, sh*t got messed up. Haha.height=15
width=33
depth=21
port dimensions
height=13.5
width= 4
length= 29
sub and port both facing the trunk with the port on the drivers side
comes to a net volume of right at 3 cubes with a tuning of 35-36 hz...if someone wants to draw that up be my guess cant do it on this computer

20x30x18(h) in 3/4mdf
16.5x3.5x30(l) port
5cuft gross
3.5net
34hz
Dude. Wtf. My friend that measured my trunk got it all wrong..The max height is 16 inches. Max width is 38 in. And length is 26 in. Now I gotta find someone else's time to waste..

20x30x18(h) in 3/4mdf
16.5x3.5x30(l) port
5cuft gross

34hz
Wow thanks man. That's amazing! You don't even know how happy I am. !

Umm, i can draw that up for you pretty quickly tonight after i get back from school. I drew up one for my lancer yesterday, 15" Fi BL, 3.48cuft @32Hz 54 1/4 sq in of port area.
That would be great man. Do you know if those dimensions are correct for 2 12" Alpine Type R's running a total of 1200 wrms up. Dual 4 Ohms.
You don't know how much I appreciate it.
-
That's pretty much the max measurements. 2 12'' Alpine Type R's with a 1200wrms amp.what subs and amp do you have and what are the max dimensions the measurements you have are around 6cutf @25hz
They are meant to be external dimensions. The thickness is 0.75 in.are they meant to be internal or external dimensions? what thickness wood if external?
I wish, they are 12's.So much missing information here...I'm assuming they're 15s...I am just going by what the guy on here told me. So i'm sorry for any missing information.

So a fellow member of the forums gave me this. And I was wonder what everyone's critique on it is. And I still don't understand the L port part of it. So any help is much appreciated.
Dimensions:
Height-27 width-30 depth-18
Port: height-15.5 width-3 depth-24
3 cubes net with 15.25 sq. in. of port per cube and a tuning of 36Hz.
I would really like to see a 3D model of this. That would make it a lot easier, if anyone could take the time.
Still really need help with the L port.
Thanks for everyone's help in advance.
Bryan.

First thing you need to know is the recommended air space needed for the sub your using.
Next thing you'll need to know is how much space is available to use in the trunk so you don't choke them with too little trunk space left.
Once you know those you can then decide on the size and number of subs you want to use.
To use the calculator after knowing what subs and space you have just plug in the H/W/L to get an idea on what your gross F3 is and will fit in the space you have.
Once you have the size of the enclosure figured out now comes the part of tuning it, you can calculate slot ports or round ports depending on how you use the boxes, the first row is for slot ports and the bottom row are for round ports and the length will determine actual tuning.
Most people will use the general guide of 12" to 16" of port area per cf or more of air space of the enclosure for slot ports, round ports can be anywhere from 9" to 12" per cf or more and lastly aero ports can be as low as 7" to 12" per cf or more, some sub will like more port area than others so sometimes you'll need to experiment.
The misc. section allows you to enter sub displacements, # of common port walls and other items to help with getting as close to an accurate tuning as possible.
Once you enter everything into the calculator you want to make sure your NET F3 (Net Volume) is in range of the recommended enclosure size so you may have to play with actual box size and port lengths to come to the desired tuning your looking for.
Might be some things i'm missing but it is early and not quite awake yet but this should help you along in using it.
Jeez dude. You are a life savior. Very informative for not being awake. Thank you very much.

Hey, I am new to the box building area, and was wondering if anyone could take the time to go step by step through everything.
I really wish to learn this, but can't figure anything out. I mainly want to know what to enter on the tuning calculator. I am an easy learner, so you won't be frustrated with me.
Thanks everyone!
-
Yeah, I've seen that too, I don't know it all, I'm just here to learn, I just saw on this post, a guy with 3 posts writing a novel on what was wrong with a guy's build. Ha!

Hey,
I was wondering if there are going to be any car shows in or really close to the St. Louis area, if anyone knows of any, please give me a shout!
Thanks,
Bryan.
