How do you kill something that's already dead?
Save the last bullet for yourselves, peeps.

I like what you did there in the trunk. Looks good.
-
why do you think you need moar voltage?
Inexpensive usually means cheaply built, which usually translates to clipping.

Still issue blackberry's here but, will support iphones/androids on personal devices. Personally, I use a Torch 9860; the full touch-screen model (no keyboard) and it's seriously the best phone I've ever had. Granted, I've never personally owned an iPhone, and would probably have one of those if I didn't get the BB for free, cuz I love my iPad, but I love this phone. I have a ton of BBM contacts, and pretty much use the phone only for texting/emails/BBM/calls. The cell reception on this phone is fantastic. If BB released this phone 5 years ago, Apple would have had a bigger fight on their hands.

What are you using for your main fuse? I was using a cheap Chinese tube-type POS fuse and had all sorts of bad dimming issues. I replaced the main fuse with an ANL fuse (and block) and my dimming issues are now almost non-existent (except at stupid volumes). My system is comparable to yours, but I don't have the H/O alternator...I'm running the stock unit.

He's just announcing the drug drop-off, that's all.

Lookin' forward to the build

This is just me, but I wouldn't buy my friend used stuff. You sure you really need to spend that kind of coin on an alternator for that size system?
well, ive had tons of great luck buying used equipment. havent been ripped off yet. and what kind of an alternator and how much would pay for it if you were running 4000 watts rms?
And im also leaving him some room to upgrade if he wants to in the future!
Good call on the future-proofing.
So if the used equipment goes tits up you're gonna spring for replacements? Just playing devil's advocate here. I know that if I was paying someone to install a system in my car, I wouldn't want used parts. Also, if I paid someone to install a system in my car and an amp went bad, then I'd expect them to replace it. Are you prepared to do that?

Reading fail on my part  (I was skimming) I was talking about buying a CD, not downloading it. If your source is mp3, then don't worry about quality, it's already gone. I buy physical CD's then rip them to flac then make copies on burned CD's and store the originals in a box in my garage.

I live west of Mississauga, but I work right near Square One.

Thanks
Dude better keep it to the track though...he lives near me and we have some pretty strict street racing laws...if you're caught doing 50 km/h over the limit (limit on the highway is 100km/h) you get an instant 7-day impounding of your vehicle, a fine of up to $10,000, and a minimum 7-day license suspension. Cops are all over the place in Ontario like flies on shit.

Link to build log?

Even if you did get a resistor that could handle that kind of power, all you'd be doing is making heat with it anyway. Like others have said, just run 2Ω.
-
Step 1. put the sub in box
Step 2. Wire up amp
Step 3. Listen to music
I thought step 1 was "cut a hole in the box" and step 2 was "put your junk in the box".

Amart88, our products are not sensitive to temperature (with exception of out water based Spectrum products). So if you apply it durning the day when it's warm and it drops to -35°F tonight, it won't do a darn thing.
Well, it is to a degree (no pun intended), that's why I broke out the heat gun. It wasn't sticking very well in the weather I was working in. Just a couple of passes from the heat gun on low is all it took. It's a trick I learned from the good ole days of installing vinyl on transport trucks in the winter...
-
That's the procedure I used; worked great and it was about 50ºF outside. I was in the garage though. Haven't had any issues in the couple of weeks its been on...

Turn on gun
Heat product
Turn off gun (safety first)
Stick product to car
Repeat

They would be the same. It's like driving a honda civic and a F1 car both at 50mph. One is CAPABLE of going faster, but they're still going the same speed.
-
Well, which do you prefer?
Yes.

I was thinking about hacking apart an old mixer and using the analog VU meters from it, but I think I might like this a little better.
