  1. Not sure if it's true at all, but alot of box designs for those things call for 1-1.5 cubes ported which seems way too small to me, but meh. If it's true, get 2 mawr :D

ive heard 3 cubes a piece!!
  2. Yeah, I had to remove the weather sealing strip from around the trunk, take out the spare tire well cover (which I had to slide back in from inside the car after the box was finally in), and then to top it all off shave the two bottom rear corners of the box. Now I've gotta do all of this in reverse to take it back out tomorrow morning and replace it with the box I've been building the past two days. At least this new box should leave me room to get an air compressor put back in so that I'll have a train horn again! ^_^

yea sounds like what we had to do lol except it took 3 people and some kicking to get it out.....i just got my titanium's just picked them up from my buddy....no i just gotta figure out the box situation and then building a box idk what the box specs for them are
  3. 6 cubes is about as big as you are going to get in a cavalier trunk. and you will have to fire it up. Youi can not get the 19.5 inches on a flat plane firigin in or to the rear.

Story of my life. I had trouble squeezing in roughly a 5.5 gross cubic foot box for 2 12s into my Cav trunk that I built outside the car.

the box i had in my cav right we just took it out and it was only 5 cubes and it took a good 30 min to get it out.....broke a couple finners lol
  4. Too many factors to say what would be loudest, but I'm sure if you just did a slot port sub back, port back you'd be plenty happy. Maybe try sub back port drivers side?

Btw, what amp are you running now man?

And saw ya frolfing with Billeh

    Err...what're your max dimensions??

i have no amp right now and have no money for one as of now :/ uugh so im screwed for awhile...im thinking about trading the 18 for a pair of eclipse audio titanium/sw9122

and yes i saw you too deff when Bill almost smoked whats his name with his stray destroyer!! :twirl:

  5. not too big, i think ud hafta mount the sub facing up man, or at an angle, i have a 2000 cavy, and itd be hard or impossible to fit an 18 inch sub in there any other way, ud need a box thats what, like 19-20 inches tall as a minimum to stand it up?? (just me .02 from one cavy owner to another) if anybody has ideas, feel free, i just havent found a spot in the trunk that tall

im thinking about trading the 18 for 2 eclipse titanium/sw9122
  6. Coming from the owner of a 2003 Cavalier...the fuhhh? I can see maybe trying to fit a single 15 in a ported box in the trunk, but as it is right now I barely managed to slide in a box for 2 12s...even if you build it in the trunk I honestly don't see fitting a ported box for an 18 in there. I might be missing some extra bit of info though?

EDIT: I suppose you could use the spare tire well to add an extra cubic foot or so, but even then I don't think you'll be able to fit an 18 in there facing forward or backwards just because of the height. Maybe facing upward with a port facing forward? :puzzled:

as of right now my BTL is facing upward but its only in a 5 cube box that without displacement so more along the lines of 4 cubes.....and i could fit the btl in up to a 8 cube box....but the only way thats happening is is in my back seat... :/
  7. i

If you can face the sub fireing forward that would be best but you would have to completely seal the trunk off and use some sound damp, there's a few guys on this forum that could design a box for you if you give them the max dementions or if you wanna pay for one you can go to like ram designs.com

id probly just get it done here in town with a bunch of buddys.....but in just lookin for that max, daily, loudest thing i can do for my car
  8. First off these threads are frowned upon because nobody can tell you which will be louder any answers are just speculation.

With that aside what are the specs for the BTL enclosure? Because 2 12s in a proper enclosure should outperform an 18 crammed in your trunk in a less than optimal enclosure.

Edit. More info on the eclipse subs would be helpful because, I believe a certin model/year sub were built by TC sounds and are supposed to be really nice.

well its just in a 5 cubed box in my cavalier trunk....the TI's i could get in my trunk alot better aaaand they will be in a proper box
  9. How small is that box? Seems like barely any vehicle flex at all especially for an 18, I didn't notice if you had any deadener in there or anything either. Reason I say this is because I've got a Cavalier as well and my rear deck flexes just as much (I'm sealed from the trunk though) but I can also get decent seat flex and just noticeable steering wheel flex. Was looking for some flex from your car but didn't notice any =/

EDIT: Forgot to ask if you've metered it yet either, but still looks pretty loud man!

and i actually have aloooot of flex just my camera on my galaxy s2 has a hard time picking it all up im sorry man...im trying to get a new camera

no i have not had it metered either theres no where to do it around here

  10. on a low budget... :/ ik the box is to small still got alot of work to do with the system....im just in the middle of seeing if i get my mom Mercury Mariner that the only reason why the system is how it is.........no matter the Fi BTL 18 is LOUD AS HECK!!!!

Lets be positive guys its my first "REAL" subwoofer Kicker L7's dont count ;)

    BUT HERES A COUPLE VIDEO!!!
