Will two XL's be able to handle a clean stable 2500w each on a daily driver application?
-
Do you think these bad boys will be able to handle 150rms without too much strain?
-
Hey Steve, I'm not sure if there is a special thread for this that I cant seem to track down, but I just put in my order for a DD-1 and was wondering if you could sign it? If you can just pm with all the things you need or whatever. Please and thanks! It would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't had too much personal experience with trucks that aren't just walled off, but subs up port back seems to work well all around, cars/suvs/hatchback.

the way i look at the battery power debate is. at what point do I think I'm ok? At that point I add one more. In my case I thought I would need 6. So ended up wtih 8. I cant have odd numbers.
I like that philosophy! and I too have a distaste for odd numbers.
With 2 300a+ alts I would still use 2-3 D3100s. For me battery power trumps alternator power. The more reserve battery capacity that you can have the better off you are going to be when trying to keep your voltage higher for longer and the less stress you are going to put on your alternators, because they wont constantly be trying to keep up with the current draw of your amps because your batteries are basically dead.
Alright cool. I think in the end im going to try and get the biggest single alt i can fit and strap on 3-4 D3100's. I love your build btw man, the CF vinyl looks SICK!
-
If I can get a mount made I'm trying to strap on a second 320a alt, if so what are some recommendations for additional batteries, i would like to keep it in the XS or Kinetik family. Or basically how much more amperage should i add to the alts to satisfy the monster so that it won't eat me instead. Or maybe i want it to, i havent decided.

Zip:70001
Lvl 5 15" and 18" and
7.5k please
-
Should be alright.
Good deal. Thanks man, love the wall build btw! What material do you use to wrap everything? Vinyl?
-
I'm thinking about upgrading to 2 lvl 5's powered by a 7.5k. I am wondering if my 320a alt + 2 XS power D3100's + 1 XS Power D3400 will feed the beast efficiently. Please help!

3.5k amp
zip: 70001
plz and thank you!!

Yeah right now I set all my stuff using a multimeter, I'm looking into getting a good oscilloscope or the SMD DD-1glad to see we could help save you from blowing your subs apart, just remember to set your gains correctly. clipping on that 3.5k will fuck up your subs in a heartbeat
using a multimeter will not keep you from clipping. i suggest buying a dd1 or oscope.
if you plan on playing it before you have those then dont turn your gain up much and go off the clip light on the bass knob
Oh no doubt man. I always play it safe and go less than the max signal i could probably get to

yeah and I feel 3.5K will be good enough for me right now I'll just do the XL and 5.0K upgrade once i need a bigger fix for my bass addiction

so lets get this straight, do you have level 4s or XLs, because the title says XLs, you mention XLs a few times, but then say level 4s with XL coils are XLs..
for some odd reason, its just stuck in my head you have level 4s.. and if thats the case, please refer to what i said in one of my previous posts.
If that is not the case and you do infact have XLs then get the 5k, because they can handle it just fine
Lol i have level 4's with XL softparts I was in no way implying or at least i didnt mean to imply that they were the same as Xl's. But I appreciate your help because I'm either going to stick with my 4's and get the 3.5k or get 2 XL's and go with the beastly 5.0k

I have the electrical covered but I appreciate the looking out! and I say Lvl. 4 XL because they are the Level 4's with the XL spider and coil upgradeall in the box and electrical you better have 600 amps on tap to feed it.. i estmate 3k to 3800 is what you should get.. and the lvl4 is not a xl.. it goes 3, 4,xl,5,6,neo and thats the old line the new line is m2 but same order
no, they are not...
the motor is bigger on the XL, go look at the weight, its like 32 lbs on the level 4 where as teh XL is like 52... cant tell me soft parts = 20 lbs
i think hes trying to say his level 4's have an upgraded soft parts. not that its an xl.. could be wrong though
then its just level 4s with level 5 upgrade, but that still doesnt make it anywhere near what a XL can handle.
and if thats what he meant.. i wouldnt put a 5k to 2 level 4s, even with the level 5 softparts... thats just me.. i would do a 3500 and call it a day, because if you get any real power out of that 5k, bye bye subs
even then.. i think hell fry up the amp first. i doubt he knows what kind of electrical he needs for this..
OP to straighten all this out.. what kind of electrical are you planning on running.
and i wouldnt throw 2k per sub.
I appreciate all input. I posted what electrical i will be running for the amp. and i was going with the 5.0k because ive seen one level 4 handle 3.5k. But i accept all sugestions and critiques!
was it a clamped 3.5k
anyone can run a 3.5k amp on a single level 4.. and yeah youll need probably a couple more batteries to hold your voltage down pat.
also i agree that you should get more motor before you attempt to put that much power out.
I will also have another Kinetik under the hood but it won't be specifically designated for the 5.0k if you think that will help with my volatge. So you think 2 XL's would do well if i wanted to stick with the 5.0k?

I see fails in the near future
same here...
you have electrical covered for sure?
not being a dick but i feel like by asking that question your not going to know what kind of electrical to have for a 5k...
I don't take it as a dick comment at all man, even though I dont see myself as an audio nub i still am fully aware that i have a lot to learn. I'm going to be running it off of a 300a alt under the hood and 2 12v Kinetik KHC2000's that are rated at 102ah. If you have other suggestions please go right ahead.

5000w / 2 subs= 10000w per sub and 2+2=22. Sorry its been a long ass day.
2500w per sub but you will never see that after rise and voltage drop unless you have found the magical solution to impedance rise and have a damn stout electrical system.
Yeah lol, I dont expect to see exactly 2500, I am just aiming for over 2K

Hello all.
I'm thinking about hooking 2 Lvl.4 XL 15"s to a DC 5.0K (5,000rms @ 1ohm). Now if i wire these two subs to put a 1ohm load on the amp, will the amp push 5,000rms to each sub or will it disperse the power and push 2,500ish RMS to each woofer? Any help is appreciated! please and thank you!
