I would just measure the distortion level on deck alone first... instead of trying to do it through your amp man.. Have you already tried this???
-
OP do you live in WA state or DC??? also where abouts in WA state if so, there are plenty of people around that might be able to lend you a helping hand...
-
It was a while back but I got about 30 1/0 copper lugs and 6 8awg copper lugs from him for a awesome price. Don't know if he remembers but they got here fast and he was a great guy to deal with.

pretty sure chicken lives a few hours ride away from steve.
I hear you, but ill be driving through CA to AZ either way so im sure a few detours wouldn't hurt after all what is a road trip without going off course to check out some sweet rides... right..
-
Hey steve when can i check this out man, Ill be close by later in the week... It would be sick to say i sat in the Tahoe man.. Let me know I'm making a trip down to AZ on Thursday maybe i can stop by on the way down there..

Those v2's are beasts man and with proper electrical and box design they will take a hell of a lot power, I've seen a pair on a AP3000 and 4 on a Sundown NS1 and they beat without complaining... These subs will surprise you
-
Sounds like its wall time to me lol
However as far as batts listen to kranny, drop a d3100 if it fits under the hood and 2 more in the back. And right now you are seriously choking those subs man, but again its your equip so use it how you want..

You need to get on some decaf lol the quality difference is night and day.
shoot me a link for some decaf I have heard of it but never found anything well ill put it this way I dont have a whole lotta time to search for stuff haha..
Without dimensions I would try 3 cubes after displacements with a single 6" port like you suggested. I would fire the sub back and put the port on the drivers side of the box side firing into the trunk wall. I built a similar box except for a Nightshade 15 and used an 8" aero and did a 152.6 but in a hatch. I'm sure you would still have decent results in a trunk. However I did use around 4k watts. Use the box calculator to figure out the dimensions. I can't do it on the tablet I'm using. It is a pain in the ass.
So something like the simple box above except sub firing rear of car and port firing towards trunk wall(vehicle seats)? or port also firing towards the trunk lid(opening)
I was thinking of firing port towards the drivers side rear tire from the side I have heard of a few people using this setup and getting good results.

I hear you man, but I play mostly all DJ S&T so my tunes are super low haha
-
Well if i do end up going with 15.5" tall then i will have to be very precise with my cuts lol, because it puts me right at 3/16" from my 6x9's magnet haha..SO i guess i will have to keep changing it up and see what i like best right..
-
I tried with the 10" and didnt like the response as much as i thought might have been because the port was also facing the seats, mind you seats up as well. Would you suggest facing the seats with port on the side i would like to use a single 6" aero just not sure on length to get me around 27-29htz
-
well i had a 15" L7 firing upward before and sounded pretty good, then got the 10" v.3 liked it and wanted bigger thats why i got the 15" I might be able to squeeze the 15.5 in but i throw strollers in the trunk as well so wouldnt like for shit to be hitting the sub and i dont want to go sub facing seats haha
-
thanks man, but how about if i use a single 6" aero, not sure if i can clear the 15.5" thats why i was going to do sub up and port out the side.. I figured i could conserve a bit of space i was using Torres box calc and came up with this 14"H x 18"D x 34"L with a single 6"aero at 26"L would put me at 27.10htz..
-
Damn 38 and still killin high 20's is effin awesome..
-
What's up everyone, just looking to see if someone can shoot me a design for a ported box for my new sundown z 15" v.3 woofer. I want to try an aero port so i can keep some trunk space lol Max dimensions are H15"xD26"xL34"
So here is a basic layout of what i am looking for.. I can use Torres to get a sealed design but just unsure on how much port i would need to get a 28-33htz tune I like lows haha.
well if you have any ideas or can shoot me a blueprint with cut sheet that would be great or if you know of a diff box calc that will help as well..

Those things look sick man, amazing job
-
That thing is sick man might have to do something like that this coming year, but ill be using either 4 15" Crossfire xs-v2 or 4 Z 15" v.3 w/ NS soft parts. But overall this thing slams, what tuning is his box at man?
-
I would do 15's more cone area than the 4-12's.. IMO

Gorilla tape adds deebees
No it's the 100mile an hour tape that adds db'z and some of that stuff thats all glassy resin fibers and stuff... oh yeah fiber glass resin lol.

to everyone saying a fifty is something easily to get out of a trunk you are flat out wrong....ive helped to build one its not like building a rgular box, ive also spent a lot of time learning from thorshammer...so please if you have never done it dont say its easy
I haven't read thoroughly through all the comments, however. I myself am not stating it will be easy and simple, but it is possible. Especially from a trunk of a car, but possible as long as box and tuning are correct. Also every car is different so thats is also one of the many factors... Like i said just my $.02
-
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to hit 150+ with that setup. I have seen locals do 140+ with 2 SA8's on an AP3k. what i would suggest is get the Z's in D2 voice coils run them at .5ohm on the Nendo. Also throw the NS soft parts on the Z's using the Z v.3 spider pack should be good for 3k+ i believe, but hey thats just my $.02...
Im running just one 10"Z v.3 on a SHOK II 2.5k now and it takes it fine. Just make sure you tune right and your set. But like people say make sure you have the power to support that amp. More powwwaaa..
-
If i were you i would shoot them an email, if i was stationed anywhere close i know i would just to see if i could have a look see where these beast woofers get built..

OOH my favorite game!!!
It's the, solve my question about my equipment without ever mentioning me equipment game!!!
It would help us and yourself if you listed the equipment being used and questioned.
Also as far as a answer im shooting in the dark here not know what vehicle, sub, amp, elect, etc etc.. But i would grab a DMM and have a friend help you check your voltage drop seems to me that this might be the reason your amp goes into protect at high volumes. Do this then get back at us OP with full details.
-
Why Track 7? Set it with track 3 and safely play full volume all day.
i wanted to see if the Z would take the beating lol. And tomorrow retune using track 3. Until the 15" comes in then test again..
