  1. what hoodie brands are nice. i dont like skateboarder stuff and that is most of the shit i can find. i do not want element or dc. i did find a brand called dirty ghetto kids but i wanted to see if you guys knew of any brands that amde nice hoodies. i want it to be nice and not too ghettoish like only black people and wiggers wear them lol

Make you own... go buy a hoody and have something pressed into it. I wear my Team Deadly Hertz hoody everywhere lol

  2. Sundown saz4500d would be my first choice. If not that then maybe a pair of saz2000d's. Other amps that I would consider running in a daily setup would be an American Bass 500.1, Cactus Sounds 7K, Atomic 5K or 7K, Stetsom 7kd, Hifonics Golaith, Rockford T4K, and DD Z1A just to name a few for ya.

I like the idea of a Cactus 7k or either of those Atomics but they are hard to find used haha

  3. I just recently got some new subs. 2 18" AA Mayhem. My original plan was 2 AQs strapped but the AQ isnt liking the fact that each coil is .6 ohm... I am looking for 5-6000w rms @ 1 ohm but it has to be able to be used daily.

I was looking at a Stetsom 5k2d but I'm not sure it will handle a daily driver setup.... (Don't know much about them)

If you have owned anything and have an opinion on what I should look into please let me know!

    Thanks!

EDIT: I'd like to stay under $1,000 but throw out options... the plan is to buy used anyway...

  4. just break it in by hand some more

iirc the protection circuit is at .6ohms but u can roll up burp down to .25ohm

have u noticed the amp goes into protect around ur tune frequency?

im tuned between 32-33 and its not shutting down there... I can play for a while then it will pop. other time it was instantly do it as soon as a note hits.. im using a lot of your songs to test this thing too btw haha

    Yea that was weird.

That is very low, But the lower the frequency you play, the lower imp rise will be. Also, i have have clipped the shit out of my old BTL, and the Ohm's never changed to the day it blew, i also use Dual 1 Ohm. Are both coils reading the same on that sub?

yea. I have tested all of my coils even on the other sub and they all bounce between .5-.6

  5. imp of the coils will never go up as you break it in, if anything it will drop as it breaks in. Double check your DMM by touching the leads together.

i understand that but my amp did not go into protect before and it is now. same size sub, same impedance sub, same box, same amp, same amp settings. I know the subs are two completely different animals but I never through my BTL on this amp when it wasnt broken in.

your misunderstanding what is being said. the coils will always be at .6 on his meter. but the impedence changes as the sub moves. with the sub not being broke in, it is not moving very much. with a broke in sub the susp is much looser allowing the cone to move more. if you dont believe me hook up your dmm to a sub and get the reading. then push on the sub and see what happens.

I'm going to check all of the coil today and keep this thread informed.

  6. also did you clamp your set up when you had the btl? if so what was your box rise? clamp it again with the aa and see what rise you get.

I believe Kian on our team did. But we kept getting different readings each time we tried it. it was really weird. but he said i have a very low rise. i forget exactly what he said because it was a good 2-3 BBq's ago.

yea i am going to take it easy. tomorrow i think ill throw the other sub in the car and see if it does it too. i havent checked the coils on that one yet. my personal dmm is broken so ill have to wait til i get to work in the morning.

  7. everytime your sub moves your impedence will change. hook up your dmm to you and gently push on your cone of the btl's and the mayhams. see how much of a difference there is between the two. 20 to 1 says the mayham has far less change. add this to the fact that your sub is not broke in, therefore it is not moving much, so your box rise could be to a minimum. now i could be completely off, but without being there and seeing it, all i can do is give you my opinion on the problem. i have had the same problem with 9500 series dd's when they were new.

I dont have the BTL any more. But yea the sub is extremely stiff. I was just thinking that once it loosens up i should be ok considering the BTL was pretty much broken in by the time i went to the AQ.

I mean its not like i turn the truck on and pop instant protect. i can play it for a good while, then the amp gets warm. then it will hit a hard punchy note a it goes protect. but other times i can play sounds like "Put on" and it will play just fine for the most part. Its not like its not playing at all.

    Im just concerned.

  8. I just recently got 2 AA Mayhems. I am only using 1 right now. it is a dual 1 ohm sub. I have an AQ2200D. the sub is wired to a 1/2 ohm. My BTL 18 i had last was wired at 1/2 aswell and the amp took it all day with no problems. both coils on the BTL read .7 just as they should.

With me new sub the coils read .6. they are .7 ohm coils according to AA site. Them being lower is apparently causing my amp to go into protect... I have been told 2 different stories. Some people tell me that as the sub breaks in it will cause a slight increase in impedance. Is this true? Other say it will more than likely stay the same.

If you don't know please don't comment.

    Let me know,

    Thanks!

  9. For both Bass Race and ShowtimeSPL you can put 6) 18s in each door if you really wanted.

Bass Race and showtime have no rules concerning this matter. Which makes it fun because I know people that have put 12s in their front floors for SQ competition.

Awesome! I will be doing it then. A set of RF Power 6.5's in the doors, A 8" AA Assassin in each door, and a Set of RF Power 5.25" in the A pillars if not the door....

Thanks Ed for really clearing that up for me!

  10. I am currently in the process of getting recones on my two BTL's that I traded from Tkitt21 (good guy), and I want an amp that will push my subs to full power with out clipping.

Audioque AQ3500d are on sale for $550 shipped... Cant beat that. 3500 @ 1 ohm... can run at 1/2... 2 of those shall do you good ;)

  11. now that was just fucking STUPID...

as far as the original question...ive always wondered that myself...

p.s colhon..your titles keep them clean

    ok

According to the 2009 DB-Drag rules....

2-2 All of the woofers in a vehicle (10 inches and larger) will be counted when determining what class a competitor should compete in.

    Additional Guidelines:

    * Every woofer in an Isobaric or Compound configuration shall be counted.

    * Hidden woofers (such as those found in Bandpass enclosures) shall be counted.

    * Passive radiators, ports, and vents are not considered to be woofers, and therefore will not be counted as such.

    * If the largest speaker in the contestant's sound system is smaller than 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter, then all of the speakers that are being used to produce bass shall be treated as woofers.

Now I guess the end decision will be made by the judge of the event...

From what I've over heard as long as they don't break any other rules as far as mounting and positioning they are legal IE don't build a pod in the center of your dash...

Thats just what I could find with a quick search of the rules.

cool. I think ill do it then! thanks

  12. should be able too. it's all just volume control. opening doors or windows is what will get you DQ'd. i've never been questioned about my gear to see whether it was legit or not to compete in bassrace

Thats what I'm thinking but I want to be sure before I start.

at the last 3x comp i went to they were beyond anal on shit... made Oldsboomer take his 6x9 enclosures down off his back window before he went to compete....
