Update!!!
I just bought 2 more sa-8 d4. I get those Wednesday. Im going to recone this one to a d4 and wire it to 1.33. I'm getting a new design from @RAM_Designs. Unfortunately still have to wait on the subs and a design to get started on anything new. I'll have updates whenever I get the design or subs.

Haha. Well thanks. I figured it was more expensive.
-
Around 100-150 total for the speakers.
-
focal!
Model numbers? I was interested in those $9 focals. But wasn't sure.
-
looks real good i like the sub choice.
Thanks!
Looks good any videos?0
Not yet unfortunately. Soon though!

I'm unsure what to use for my front stage in the doors.

So I was originally looking at grabbing the PWK-6's for all around and run them active off a sundown 100.2 or 125.2. I am just unsure of what to do. I need some suggestions for midbass and midrange. Probably should get tweets too for uprgading all of this. I just need some guidance. I also have looked at the Aq-mr6.5, supertweet and the 6.5tx. But again, unsure. Any help is greatly appreciated! This is going into a Saturn Ion2. A set in the front doors, a set in the rear deck.

I have had this in my car about three weeks now, just never got around to posting it. As stated, I have a Sa-8 v.2 in what I thought was a .72 cu ft box tuned to around 33 hz. Realized after building that it was .64 or so around 36 hz. Forgot the displacement of the sub(anyone say newb? Haha). I was told to try some polyfill to see if that would help, so I did that and it seems to have tuned it a little lower. Doesn't bottom out on all but 2 songs I have now. This box does unfortunately have some port noise(didn't round the edges), so a rebuild will happen next week. My gf did say she wanted more, so I'll be upgrading to two sa-8 while I'm at it.
Right now I have:
H/u: Kenwood Exeleron KDC-x396
Mids/Highs: Stock
Sub Stage: Sa-8 V.2
Amp: Aq 1200D
Wire: 4g wire
Future:
H/u: Same
Mids/Highs: Crescendo pwk-6/Unsure yet
Sub Stage: 2 Sa-8 V.2
Amp: Sundown 1500(hopefully),100.2(unsure)
Wire: All 1/0 gauge
Big 3, extra battery
Enough talking, here's pics.
Unfortunately I don't have any of it installed in my car. Might do a video, I'm not sure yet. I do get a lil itty bitty paper trick though with my window cracked.

i dont know what your definition of the lows is but with 1 8 that is hard to do. at least personally 1 8 cant give me th elows i like. pretty much you have to tune lower to protect the speaker and its suspension. tuning lower drops the f3 point of the enclosure and will let you play lower safer.
To clarify - 1 8 does not give you the OUTPUT you like. There are plenty of 8's that will produce good bass down low.
I have a pair of 6.5" drivers in a ported box playing flat to 28 Hz in open space (no cabin gain). They only make 110 dB, but they will get low.
Thats exactly it. I met up with a guy here in Az and let him listen to it. He was surprised how low and decently loud it got. He has 2 lvl4 18 on a 2500 watt amp. As a newb, I'm ok with it.

Is this box in the trunk of car
And you say Aq1200, is that current mdl amp and what ohm sub did you get
Yes, Its in the trunk of a 2004 Saturn Ion 2(the coupe one). What do you mean by mdl amp? And D2.
also another thing to consider is adding another sub,
it will make building the box a lot easier, if you want port/sub to face same direction, it's hard to get a good high to width ratio,
your amp will handle it and not need upgrading and 600-700 a piece @ 1ohm (depending on what your current ohm sub is) even at @ ohm they will still hit hard
When money comes around, I plan on adding another sub/maybe bigger amp also. But I made a deal with my gf first, I spend around 450 for everything I need, she gets a nice new $700 camera. Just awesome.
My Max dimensions are 15 h, 40 w and 20 d.
Really easy to make it work in those dimensions...
You sir, are awesome. PM coming.

Exactly how I am when I play games!! lmao.

If you can open it up fit 45 in the cnr and seal it up again and try that.
Also with the last bend you want that straight to the side and not to the front, so as the sub doesn't unload straight into the port
Also
Didn't see the port size propley as I'm mobile but 10.5x 1.25 in 0.64net is smack on where you want be, with the exception of a but a bit lower tune would be nicer
I'll have to see what I can do. I dont know if I'll be able to open it up. How would I be able to tune it lower with this right now? More port?
That last port piece matters? Just because of loading issues?
-
That blows. Haha. Would you recommend a bigger box? If not, I'll probably just go with the design you gave me earlier.
-
I don't know if it matters a whole bunch, but its 1.25 inches, not 1.5. And I now realized I should've rounded the edges some.
-
It's 12 inches tall.
-
your gunna need a bigger box to tune lower because the port will take up more space sinced it will be so big.
Ya, I understand that. I was curious if I would gain anything from a bigger box(like 1.25 cu ft after displacement) and lower tuning. I know the lower tuning will help with the lower end, but on just over rated power, will a bigger box be harmful?
Have you tried to stuff the box with polyfill to see the difference, i think its like 1 lb of stuffing per cubic foot.
That's interesting! I had never known about that. I'll have to stop by Wal-mart and pick some up!

I've only been in one real competition vehicle, so I kind of know what the lows are like, but I'm still learning. Right now I like what I'm getting from it, especially for it being my first good set up(previously had 2 duals and a horrible kenwood amp. haha). It gets decently low, just the port noise comes in when its not cranked all the way.
I've read a lot on here, I'm a lurker. I know I have to tune lower for the suspension, I just don't know how to with a box at .5-.75 cu ft. So I was curious if a bigger box would work better?
-
Here's a picture of the box I built.
I have seen your posts previously, just never got around to messaging you. Haha. There doesn't seem to be a bunch of people here in Az. When I'm down next we should meet up.
-
So I currently have a .72 cu ft box after displacement tuned to around 33hz for a Sa-8 V.2. It has some port noise(which I now realize it is more important to round edges) and I want to build a new box. Would a bigger box be more advantageous? It's right now on a Aq 1200 with stock electrical. Also, would it matter if I tuned it lower? I love the lows(wish I could get some of decafs songs) but in this box they would just bottom the sub out and be inaudible(I've tried, lol).
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
-
The Sa-8 V.2s? I was going to have mine at 30 hz, but if that's not low enough tuning, I'm going to change it. I want it to sound good and dont really care about TL scores.
-
Thanks Joe x! I had tried something similar, but couldn't quite figure it out. And yes, it is a D2. I knew I had forgot something. Thanks again.
-
I need some help designing a box for the SA-8 V.2. I have the max dimensions of 15"h x 20"d x 40"w. I have tried a few different things on the Torres calculator but can't seem to get it right. Any help would be appreciated. It will be going in a Saturn Ion2, with a HFi 1000.1D for now on stock electrical, but will be upgrading to an AQ 1200D, extra battery and Big 3 here shortly.
Thanks!

Thanks! What should I use for the coaxials? I've tried doing research on all this I just don't know. Haha.
