  1. only way to know prices from companies is to call/email them

hmmmmmmmm im confused?????????? i dont understand what you mean............. i was trying to make a point that i would have to pay for that on top of paying him. thanks for the pointless comment tho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably not a good idea to shit talk the advice of a VERY helpful and knowledgeable member on here. He may not have done a great job with his brief post, but his information would be valuable to you. You may permanently lose the help of members with that kind of attitude.

the kind of attitude like what? im sorry if i was asking to buy an alternator, if someone was being helpful i would not respond like that. but bc i thought he was being sarcastic i also chose to use sarcasm.

  2. cant you just do box 1 with port and subs both facing back?...measurements look like there is room to do it..dont understand why you wouldn't

also...why is it that everything somebody says will give you DB gains is always in 3db increments?...that should be your first clue that is more of a guess than proven!

yeah when i was building it i was wondering the same thing, the subs would fit in the back. i put them on top tho because i asked joe x the same question and he said in a car like mine you its better to have the subs up port back. it makes sense tho bc if the drivers are facing the cab then you would have more bass bc they are facing you. amd yeah ive noticed that too about the 3db increments and usually those ppl are wrong and just saying to say lol.

  3. after reading this thread, im considering building a new box. Ive had my subs facing the trunk and port firing into the drivers side wheel well for a while now. I think ill try subs and port back with the port in the center of the box...

yeah i went with box one. just finished it today. subs up port back. and it sounds like way more bass. and in this box i feel like it can handle more power for some reason.
  4. what kind of vehicle, in a hatchback, or suv i would do the first, in a trunk i would more than likely do the 2nd

please explain how having a trunk dictates more of a neccessity for port on one side???

center port works in any vehicle, because each sub sees the exact same pressure and volume for the rear wave, that is not true for side slot port

Yea but if they are in the same chamber with slot onto the side. Won't they still have the same pressure bc they are starring one chamber. I could see if they were in different chambers and one port on the side

  5. Well i finally started the box for my two alpine swx 1043d subs. Its a sub up port back setup. Design complements of Joe x... Thanks again X for the box hope i did your blue prints justice lol.

Well first off started with this:

    Box1.jpg

Then i cut it all up lol:

    Box2.jpg

    Started putting it all together:

    Then started making the ports:

    Ports all done:

Tomorrow im going to paint the port, put the the double baffle on and cut the holes.

  6. Yea see this is what i wanted to hear lol. A little debate. The solo x can't be that expensive and be as horrible as u guys are saying lol. That is a poweful ass sub i just don't know if it will louder in a 4.91 cubic foot box. If any of you guys that are hating the solo x ten, then you obviously haven't seen one in person before. If u just look at the sub you think it was a twelve. Its massive

The solo x is a beefy woofer... BUT with that being said you can get much more bad ass woofers for quite a bit cheaper that will withstand a hell of a lot more beating and sound MUCH better putting up big numbers... Look into AQ, DC, FI, AA Sundown to name a few

Yea but Im not buying anything. I would be trading a type x 10 and a Sony 4 channel for it

  8. i dont care either way if the sub is round or square lol if its loud then its loud. if two of my subs are louder then one of thoes, was pretty much my question. have you guys actually had solo xs or are you just talking shit about them. i really want to know whats louder not what you guys like better. but bc everyone is saying to keep mine im deff going to, until some one buys them or i trade them. i like to always switch it up for some reason lol

  9. Honestly, I'd stay with the type x's, more cone area.

Though in my opinion, if it's not circle shaped, I stay away.

Yea but any single garbage 12" has more cone are then a solo x ten. And the type xs do pound. I started with Memphis 15" cast m3 then to a single hd12d2 and now i have these and they are prolly the loudest of my subs so far. They are louder then my 15s were and my 15s most certainly had more.surface area lol but yea i think ill stick with them and build the box Joe x made for me. Thanks guys for all your input

...any 12" does, just because it is a "garbage" 12" doesn't mean it has less cone area than a good one.

In line with everyone else here: They got it right the first time, circular subs FTW. High-end component sets are 6.5" and (sometimes) 8" ROUND, not 6x9" for a reason too.

yeah exactly what i was saying. he said that my subs had more cone are. i was saying so does a garbage 12 but it wont be louder....
