why cant you just put 1\4 inch foam down then put the suede over it?
-
Turn the gain all the way down, does the noise go away.
ill check. the kid that traded it to me for a lanzar 0 gauge power wire is now gonna trade me a crunch ground power 2000.1d thats in better condition so ill just do that and sell it to get an 8" sub of some sort. prolly a sa 8 or maye 2 ab 8s next to the hd 12

Just curious but does your amp have an internal cooling fan? My soundstream rub2500.1d has an internal cooling fan and I can hear it if I get up close to the amp. Also can feel the vibrations from the fan very faintly in the heat sink.

no fan... i wish there was a fan tho bc the fan on my ma audio sy7011dx i can hear lol
-
It's a no-no just for the pressures that it can put out, especially a no-no for electronics. Should have used a can of keyboard/air duster. Something could have been blown loose with the compressor
oh you mean unregulated compressor air is bad idea. yeah i get what your saying. i was careful not to disrupt anything. but could dust cause this to make that noise
-
yea one amp would run 750 watts rms at 2 ohms (tma) and the other runs 1000 watts rms at 2 ohms (jx) so they would get uneven power supplied to them. if there in separate boxes you should be all good. but in the same box, idk if that will be a good idear. if you have them in the same air space\ box then you would want them powered by the same amp and signal
-
How many PSI did you have coming out of the compressor???
IDK i didnt put it right up to it and blast it lol. i just blew it over the top of it to get all the dust out. Why is the compressor a nono? i use it to blow out my pc case all the time with no problems
-
You keep shooting down all my ideas lol. I was gonna say switch the ohm load to 2 lol. I wouldn't trust it at 1ohm though, just because it's already making a noise, I wouldn't want you dropping the ohm load and completely frying it.
So for now, check all grounds, open the amp up and make sure there are no loose connections, blow the dust off it again, cross your fingers lol
well i checked everything and it looked good. so i blew it out with the compressor and it was dusty as shit lol. but i think that was the problem all the dust. its really just a feint high pitched noise.
-
Hmm.... Well what ohm load do you have it wired at?
it was running at 2 ohms two single voice coil 4 ohm power bass subs. havent tried 1 ohm or 4 ohm

some amps do that when they clip
Ding ding.
I've noticed on a majority of the amps that I've tuned with the DD-1, when the clip indicator turns on on the DD-1, I can hear a squeal coming from the amp. Back off the gain, clip light goes of, squeal goes away.
How did you tune your amp?
i didnt tune it really, i just plugged it in to see if it worked, it doesnt make the noise for like a min or so after i turn it on
-
There may be a bad fan in the amp. If it is warrantied, send it back.
if not, open it up and remove the ground wire from the fan and wrap electric tape around the connection points to be safe.
no fan on it, but that would be sweet if thats what it was lol.

some amps do that when they clip
I was just about to suggest seeing if it does it at a lower gain setting.
It could also be capacitor whine. Sometimes older caps start making audible noises during their charge/discharge process.
it doesnt do it right away. im thinking its the caps on there.
some amps do that when they clip
its not set high enough to clip and even when theres no music playing it still has the noise
-
What kind of amp?
its an ma audio hk1998
-
my amp is making a high pitched noise. its not audible through the speakers, but the amp it self is making the noise. any ideas on what it can be? it still bumps the subs so im not sure what it could be. the board was dusty so i blew it off and the noise stopped until i blew on it again lol. maybe its just really dusty or something?
-
ok try this first, check the ground, most of the times a bad gound can lead to noise, then check with another set of new rca's, and finally if stills making noise it will probably be the headunit, it happens to me one time and it endup with the radio
the sound isnt comming from the speakers its comming right from the amp

you got the actual box specs by anychance?
looking to do the same setup on vfl120.1 but having hard time getting box to 2.5 @ 34
If you go to klausaudio.com and act like you want to buy a box. You can enter the size and what you want it tuned at. Then before checkout you can click on view blueprints and it will give you them for free
-
Nothing special but i did do everything myself so its not bad lol
-
Im mot sure what it is. The rca leads from the circuit board to the rcas terminals had disconected. So i reconnected them but the amp is now making a weird high pitched whine buzz noise. But it still pushes the subs so Im mother sure
-
Just looking to see if anyone wants to trade some nice 8" subs for my American bass hd12d2. Let me know
-
I don't know why everyone hates on ma i have no problems with ny amps or subs I've ever used of Theres

I did the Big 3 (4 actually) all with 1/0, before I put in my system, along with a much better battery (but not a dual setup... I just replaced my lame stock batt). Granted, I'm just running one 'relatively' light weight RF Power 1000 25 to Life.....
But anyway, I haven't had any problems at all. No dimming lights whatsoever, and I crank my system for 30 minutes to an hour all the time > with the truck turned off < , and it never dips below 12.3 volts..... about 13.5 truck running, with stereo + air con.... 13.8 to 14.4 with air con off, stereo on {oh, and I put in a digital voltmeter too, so I wouldn't have to worry about running my batt too low, then not being able to start the truck}.
Anyway, shortly after I did the Big 3, I was on another forum, where the resident guru posted this big, long, technical thread, with graphs, pictures, case studies, etc, all to prove, that the Big 3 typically wasn't worth $#!+
Now, I'm pretty much an electrical dummy..... but I read the guys post like 3 X's, and what he was saying actually kind of made sense.
In a nutshell, he said that the length of runs, commonly used in the Big 3, were too short to make any noticable difference in resistence, and that the only time when it made a bigger, more noticeable difference, was with long runs of cable, like from a battery under your hood, to an amplifier in your trunk.... or your alt under the hood, to a batt in the trunk. Hmmmmm.
........that, and also, if you were running a high powered alt, or 2.... (er 4
Hmmmm. At the very least, the Big 3 "looks cool"
Anyway, I have to agree with that other guru guy, that for my setup, the Big 3 probably isn't doing squat. But it might be doing a little more for some of you with much bigger, badder systems.
Peace,
Fish
i havent noticed anything after doing my big three at all lol. my voltage is still the same as it was

yeah jusw get it down to the surface you want to cover and put 1\4" foam first and then sued over it. you can do it on pretty much anything. doors, deck lids, roof panels dashboards. anything.... and it will be cheaper and easier then trying to find foam backed sued. but just my 2 cents
