  1. like others said, hifonics subs suck donkey dick. I've literally blown every one of them i've had on accident. Their amps are awesome though I have never had a problem. If you want to spend 200 or less for a whole system realistically look on craigslist for a sub, box, amp combo. You get what you pay for in car audio. Go with what the other guys recommended. +1 on the sundown's and +1 on type R's.

  2. Well, at SMD you don't have to look very far! Mechman can fulfill your alternator needs, XS Power your battery needs, and CE Auto Electric Supply your Big 3 and cable needs - just click on the respective banners or visit the individual forums for more info!

CLICK to see our Big 3 Kits.

He pretty much summed it up. That's not that much power really. If you wanna play it kinda cheap do the big 3, knukonceptz 0 gauge to a secondary deep cycle battery, knu to the amp, and you should be good. With that amp and sub your stock alternator would be okay if you don't wanna buy another. Otherwise go mechman.

  3. Jump on it now before it gets worse!

I have 2 bulging discs, 2 ruptured disc a cyst inbetween my vertebrae's and completely pinched off nerves. Its been going on 2 years now and constant pain every day and it could have been avoided if I got it fixed (im sure lifting the atm machine didn't help my back either). Just some advice, I havnt been able to compete in over a year, hell I can't even lift a amp into my truck. Hope you feel better man, back pain is awful

I aint' got near the pain it sounds like you have but thanks bro!

  4. I feel you guys on the ankles I shattered mine a few years back on a quad. I have one leg longer than the other slightly haha thankfully can't really tell though. Wheelchair for 3 months.

The sciatic nerve being pinched sucks though man. Maybe one day in the future of medicine they will come up with a way to fix that.

it comes and goes.. depends how you sit down i sit in a hard chair so i pinch it all day.. it will go away soon though.

Good to hear, no time for health issues as such a young age. Got bitches to pound and subs to lift.

  5. Yep, 18 years old...I lift engine blocks, heads, cranks, intakes, you name it...all day long. I go to lift a solo x 18 in box in the back of my truck and had to lift a little higher to clear the tailgate so I leaned back a bit and BOOM. Had to go to the ER. My back hurt so bad.

Ended up pulling my back, possibly tearing a muscle (more tests soon), and a "dislocated rib"? I didn't even know you could dislocate a rib. Anyways...I'm on the good drugs and feelin' pretty good :)

What makes you old farts feel old? ;)

  6. It's not a versus thread. If it was it would say vs. or versus. I'm asking what peoples opinion is and which sub they would rather use. Not... "oh well....which is better?" or "which is built by a better company?".... I own both of these subs and currently am running the memphis'. In order to run the kicker I have to make a whole new box so instead of waste my time, I'm getting someone's opinion. Thanks Zach for a straight forward answer and for not bitching :)

  7. I've got a kicker zx2500.1 for an amp, and an xs d3400 along with 2 optimas for battery. My box is about 6.5 cubic foot. That's all the room I have. What will be louder and have more spl? I know the solo x would be under powered quite a bit, it's 5000rms but I personally think kicker has a little over rated subs. The memphis are 1000rms each but somewhat underrated. I just wanna blow the mother trucker out of my eardrums with the little room I have :) Thanks guys.

  8. There is absolutely no possibility of subs in the trunk due to a fuel cell, pump, line, nitrous bottle, and MAYBE my extra batteries for audio...IF I can fit them. I don't run around with my subs cranked up I only turn them up for fun every so often. As for the seats I made brackets to hold the box in place and did triple carpet on the bottom and back of the box. It wasn't cheap carpet either it was pretty thick.

  9. I had two dual 2 type R's in my truck with only .8 cuft per sub sealed before sub displacement. I know it's a tiny tiny box, but it's all I could fit. They were great even in that small of a space. They don't require much sealed space at all to sound good if space is the issue.

In a 4 cuft sealed box they were monsters.

And in a 3.8 cuft slot ported box tuned to 31 I had one type R in there and it was wicked.

The one type R ported was louder than 2 sealed. Sealed is easier on the subs and will cover a more wide range of bass but I'd go with ported.
