I say keep the outside 100% stock looking. Then when a cop hears the boom that van would be last place they would look. Set up wise maybe something nuts like 30 10's for a change of pace rather than huge subs.
Edit: maybe a cool idea would be to run a contest and let us fourm rats pick the build .

145 on 500? I'm sure it's possible, but damn. I always thought it took more to hit high numbers. I realize there's higher but 145 seems high for 500 watts. Must be tiny cars. Smart car ftw? Lol. I'd love to see that. A smart car with a system. Don't think one would even fit... ported/sealed/glued on it's butt.
hitting 141.8 with 500 right now my name is Russell Reed and thats with TL sealed on the dash have been told aeroports will gain me 2-3db's and .4 to 1.1 from the dimples possibly. and to be honest its a Fosgate PowerBD 500.1 so its not really just 500 watts lol I have a 2000 explorer sport 2door

yeah but then I am out the 60$ if they dont work heh I was hoping someone around here had tried them lol Trying to hit a 145 on 500 watts have a buddy with a TL and we are going to do tweaking this weekend and this was going to be another thing to use.

Well been looking around and reading they are supposed to add .4 to 1.1 dbs depending just the dimpled vs. smooth

I was looking at ports at percision sound and they are offering dimpled ports now so I thats what got me wondering and thanks for the link will read up

From the info I have gathered so far the dimples actually reduce drag thats why they have them on golf balls

Ok I am adding flares to my ports I see that several ports now have dimples how much difference do they makes or should I just stick with the normal flared ends?

I mean I just don't see any way you could fry an amp with the DD-1 other than total user error.

Havent used a DD1 yet so I am not too sure but I am betting there is atleast 1 person on these boards who would.

Yeah my thinking too but the guys there seem more interested in getting one of the burnt amps then finding out how they REALLY got trashed.

Think you told me to flip my box gained 1.9 db's doing it only missed the AM 2( your class) high by .1db

Just got back from my second show and am excited to have taken first in my class.( amateur 1) Wanna thank the people here who gave me some advice and helped me out with my new box. My first show with a prefab seald enclosure and a little less power I did a 135.6 today with my new ported enclosure I hit a 141.8 I think thats a huge jump and am excited to know that I still have room to improve on it. I finished the box last night at about 3 am and left for the show this morning after 4 hours of sleep. I still havent tweeked out the tuning or set my gains up yet just went running them at 50% to be safe.

Ok I have my first show with new set up in my explorer in the morning I am looking for a "song" has to be a song that has a nice sweep in like like maybe from 35-50hz box is tuned at 35 and the explorer has a peak at 46-47. It needs to be music since the class I am in wont let me use test tones or just plain sine sweeps. Thanks in advance. damn raw fingers from twisting wires, screws, bolts and cable ties all day long heh. Will post pics after show tomorrow night.

Because I can't multi quote right now, for the two people above me, it doesn't matter how high the gain was turned up. The pre out voltage could have been ass for both head units and needed to be turned up more.
Normally you would be right there Too but before I put those MB's in I was running 2 RF P1 12's(model circa2006)150 rms 300max and had gain at about 85% and had no problems at all I only switched because I wanted the P1's for my explorer and put the MB's in my wifes 84 Delta 88.

Just grabbed a pair of the MB Quart 304 Onyx 12 in subs about a month they sound decent but they say they are 400rms and 800 max which is total dodo running them on a RF Punch 200.2 stereo 2ohm and had to turn amp down to 50% gain they would have fried in no time.

here is the knob I have of any members have them same and if they could go and check and see if the wire going into the back of it has 4 or 6 wires take a flashlight and look at end of plug is easy too see. I would owe ya big.

Ok guys just for the hell of it I plugged a regualr phone cord into the back of the bass knob and it fits so it is rj-11 size but looking into the jack I can see that it has 6pins where a regular phone jack only has 4 pins.(dont know if all 6pins are used but they are there) I think if it is a rj11 with 6pins its called a rj12. The newer RF amps do use a rj45 connector but this is an older one and uses the rj-11-12 size jack. Damnit where is Steve when ya need him I bet he would know lol.
EDIT I just ordered one off ebay but got a show on sunday and was hoping to use a phone cord or something from home depot/lowes until cord gets here.
This is what I ordered. 15 bucks.

Ok I just picked up a 2001 RF Power 500bd amp and bass knob but there was no cable included. WIll a standard phone cable work or do I need something special?
