woot i know the problem, your box is way too big causing over excursion and destroying your subs,
Really for 2 level 3 10s that's too big? Dc recommends 1 cu Ft each
-
im not trying to figure out your box specs you don't know how big and what it is tuned to?
but what power you running? to me it looks like they have been over excursion or whatever its called and weakened the surround right there .My opinion so take it how you want. (just basing this off of videos i have seen of subs doing it and how the surrounds look like they go 90 degrees at the cone and where yours are tearing)
It's tuned to 32 hz and after all displacements about 2.4 cubic feet

Did you see this post? just wondering
hmmm thats very strange to see, could you give me your box specs please? also would you mind removing the gasket and taking a pic of the sub
No i did not. Here is a link to all the possible specs of the box. http://s1357.photobucket.com/user/Dylan_Sawatzky/slideshow/Box%20Specs

^^ that I have seen and understand... the other pic/sub looks nothing like this one. must be the heat or something in your car or direct sunlight ect
Well, thats how the other sub started out thats what i meant by the surround had a weak point. It started like that and then bad down spiral. It is pretty hot in oklahoma, but ive never had any of my other subs separate like that.

Think you have some hungry rats or something in your trunk/boot eating that shit then. I've never seen this happen to a sub either. to me soon as it magically started ripping itself apart It would have sounded like total crap and you should have checked it out. you must be one unlucky bloke to have the same sub at 1000s of other people and have this happen.
Im very unlucky apparently. I got a defective crescendo amp as well. Showed the pos and neg connections as reveresed and that blew a link of fuses at my battery that are needed for my car to start. 50$ for the fuse block.
-
why is there parts of the torn surround missing? has it torn itself and thrown/spat some pieces of the surround off the subwoofer completely?
Yes it has. There are pieces of the surround all over my trunk.
-
Did you by chance spray any kind of cleaner on it?
The surround looks dry and brittle.
No i did not spray any cleaner, the sub was installed and left alone ever since
-
thats very interesting i have never seen that happen to one of our subs, that surround is highly reinforced and somehow that was torn through as well. is there anything floating around in your trunk or an angry ex girlfriend maybe lol
There's pieces of the surround all over the trunk but other than that its just my subs and the box and amp in my trunk.

No one broke into my car just one day I noticed the sub looked somewhat weaker in that area and over time it caused that to happen it didn't all happen in one go
It almost looks like it....did someone break into your car?I think som1 tried to rip your sub out by jamming the fingers through the surround.... did you not notice your sub sounded like arse?
yeaaaaaahhh...
It definitely happened on its own. I was not digging for a recone. I actually went online and purchased a recone kit from droppin hz. It was not punctured with a drill. Car was not broken into. Was not punched through. Literally opened the trunk to see that. Swear on god, my life, whatever. I was just posting a picture trying to get opinions on what it could have been.
It pisses me off that you jump straight to user error. I had the sub for a few days before that happened. It is still hitting, and has slowly gotten worse over time. I haven't had any luck with subwoofers in my experience. Check my old topics. I also received an apparently 1 and only defective crescendo amp.
-
I'm just not sure what initially caused the surround to weaken

You sure nothing was rolling around in the trunk that may have caused that?
Positive, all that would have been in my trunk would have been a few shirts and they weren't in front of the sub they were to the sides of the box
-
its probaly screwed but you could try shoe goo worked for me for a while on my mtx 9500 15in
make sure you do both sides and i would do multiple layers? do you have any idea why this happened?
I honestly have no idea why.. I have 2 and the other is completely fine, hits fine, doesn't sound scratchy when pushed in, and seems to be perfect. They are both running at 1 ohm on a crescendo 2k so they are seeing about 100 watts each over rated but I really figured they could take that...

So recently my sub's have been draining my.stock battery and from what I've been told is that it is deeply discharged and is always dying or.coming close to it. It struggles to start and was wondering what model xa battery I should get to replace it. I only have a 1200 watt RMS system 2 SA 12s and a kicker zx1000.1
-
I think ima settle for 1700 for now x]
Maybe worry about upgrading later on, but for 1700 i should be good with 1 D5100 up front under the hood? Awesome. Also, what gauge wire should i run?
Would 0 GA make that much of a difference at this wattage?
-
So just the D5100 up front under the hood should be enough to efficiently run the 1700 watts?
-
I mean, if it makes a big difference i can live with only 1200 watts. What would be needed to run just 1200?
-
Well, i guess its not considered stock since i replaced it >.< but the battery is new.
-
The stock battery is brand new. Not sure what brand, but brand new.
-
A D5100 along with my stock battery, or just replacing my stock battery?

Damn. The guy who designed it kept saying they like 1.5 cu each and was trying to make a box that was 3 cu after all displacement..
