What did it come out to cost ya?
The carbon fiber parts costs around 360 USD extra.
Speaker in picture is BMW original 5,25"

Any parameters for the LVL 5 18" yet?
-
Haha that's insane man!

I switched from two L3 15" D4 to a L5 18" D1 and the 18" played a little louder. The box was not the same so it's not directly comparable and also my DC 3.5K ran at .5 with the 18". However i don't regret the change the L5 18" is a beast!

Big likes The results will be fun to see.
-
Yes that's correct.. I think i'm going to buy it and try.
-
Yeah i know i will loose conearea, but maybe the 18" with it's better motor will be greater?
I also have plans to upgrade my electrical even more when i begin to wire 0.5.

Hello!
Right now i have two lvl 3 15" d4s in my BMW E39 Touring, playing 147 dB @ 42hz legal score. The box matches DC recommendations.
I got an 3.5K amp and have been offered an lvl 5 18" with carbon fiber upgrade with d1 coils. With this sub i will wire 0.5.
Do you think i can reach close to 150dB with the 18" and get overall better music performance compared with the lvl 3 15? In the future i will maybe buy another 3.5K so i will wire them 1 ohm each.

I'm going to clamp the 3.5K as soon it's arrive Going to be clamped with great equipment and resistive loads at my local 12V expert man Will push it at 1, 2 and 4 ohm at different voltages up to 18v.

Looking good, waiting for my 3.5K to arrive

Your sig says 2012 Psychlone trunk champ so I believe you when you say you know what you are doing? Even though your original post doesn't really suggest so lol. But to answer your questions, yes dc amps generally do well when wired down with proper electrical by those with the experience to do so. They are strong well built amps. And with lvl4 coils on the 3 motor I would bet they could take that power just fine.
Put up a build for it if you stick around here and welcome to SMD!
Yes that's correct, maybe my lack of good ways to express me in English make's me look like a beginner Just wanted to hear your expressions about loads for the 3.5k amp.
Last year i had five 12" subs wired to two docked amps with daily .7 load each without problems.
I know what it takes to wire low, got a friend who ran his aq20k at 0.25 . He played 155dB+ legal in a vw golf 2 with four SPL-Dynamics 15" in super street no-wall
My primary goal for 2013 is to play around in Bassrace 139.9 and have a nice demo sound. I also want to keep the weight down this year so i can have more fun with the 300HP V8 in my car, that's why only goes with two 15".
I can show you all a picture of my door panels which are new for this year The color is going to change..
Im going to use four 6,5" and pair them with a couple of supertweeters.
Last year i ran Selenium ST-350's with Audiopipe APMB8 8" mids.
The door mids will be powered by an Impact HC 250.2 who delivers 2x500wrms @ 1 ohm (2x400wrms @ 2 ohm).
I sure will put up a build log here at SMD when i got my new DC subs and amp delivered

Thanks for the good answer CJ18.
I know what I'm doing but I'm new to DC Audio that's why I'm asking what it takes to run a pair of L3 15".
CJ18 do you have the cost for adding level 4 upgrades to the level 3's? Maybe i can find the info in the forum if i look around a bit

Me and my Swedish sales rep for DC Audio has decieded to go with two l3 15" d4s and a 3.5K amp. My Swedish rep say's the power from 3.5K will be no problem for two lvl3 15". I hope his right
2K amp feels to small, i wan't to buy an amp i can still use if i upgrade to more powerfull subs.
-
I know what it takes to run an amp at .5, but i don't have any experience loading DC amps at .5 so i wanted to hear your thoughts.
So will the 3.5K amp and 2 x lvl3 15" d4s be good or do i need to get an 5.0K?
-
OK, any reason not to wire at .5? Will the power be enough from a 3.5k for two lvl3 15 wired at 1 ohm?
-
Hello!
I have plans for purchasing two LVL 3 15" and a DC 3.5K amp, should i go for subs with dual 2 ohm coils or dual 4 ohm coils?
With dual 4 ohm i get to run the amp in 1 ohm and with dual 2 ohm it get's down to 0.5 in the theory. Is 0.5 the way to go because of the impraise?
I will mostly play music but i wan't to be able to go loud also.
The car is a BMW E39 540i/6 Touring.
Any thoughts?
Goodbye level 4 12's :l hello beast
