You going to be at the Roadquake show this weekend? If so, I want to get a demo.
yep
should def. have a slightly larger box into by then as well
will be louder just need to make sure the woofers can handle a bigger box thermally
-
I watched the beginning of this like three times I was laughing so hard
you gotta give this kid some credit for that fact that he knows his system sucks
seems like he made the vid more as a joke
-
mine does max 150.8 bass race 3 12's 2 t4k's. if you can do it with 2 12's much props.
that box is pretty far forward. so is the port from the hatch.
at what frequency

were do u buy sundowns, ive been lookin for 1500D?
I believe there is a site that still sells them refurbished
anyone know what that popular site is?
dbr i think??

aiming for the car to do a 149.9 with one though
trying some different port area configs to help with box rise

theres a big differents between 144 and 149, but ive seen numberous setups with less then 15s on music at 149, can they do it all day everyday for a long time probably not, but they can long enough for a bass race here and there
the 144 was with two 8" cookie cutter pressed frame jobbies from china
oh they bass raced a 139.9 a few times. About the fourth or fifth run they let the smoke out. My boss at the time said he never saw RE 8" woofers move that far (the cones looked like they were going to flip inside out hehe)
with the right box instead of the bazooka bass tubes that i modified they could have been louder.
The first box will be fairly compact 1.5-1.8 cibic feet per woofer
single 4" aeros per sub
and a single sundown or gp3000D at .7 ohms

I have yet to see anybody hit a 49.9 with anything less than 15's its gonna be tuned high huh
With those woofers I will not need to step anything above 50-55hz.
Plus I already know the coil is the most efficient on the low side of 50hz (49-51 did the best in the lincoln on them before we pulled a 160)
they are a 3" flatwound versus the 4" on the LMS and the 5200 (5200 is also flatwound and built more fot he mic).
In no way was I suggesting the 5200s sound bad (the output on the response curve bandwidth for the loudest frequency range all comes down to listening preference)
The coil design on the LMS is simply a work of art to me though on the other hand (the design spikes certain frequencies in order to help acheive flat or close to flat response in extremely small boxes)
There is still tons of music thats gets down and dirty on these
When you drive around when daily setups for several years switching over to the SPL side is a nice change
So I was thinking though
in my enclosure thats around 16-17 square inches of port per cubic foot I have not seen a direct comparison between the woofers on the SPL side because of different boxes and wiring. I am interested in finding out if the LMS line will shine in a box as small as what the 5200s are in now.
-
Ahh yes the good old powerhorns
at low to mid 150s on music a set of components sure does not keep up
so why not stay clear at least?
selenium makes a nice set of horns I am putting together for my other build.
Right now I am doing the same numbers as the LMS ultras (154s uncharged) off half the equipment with tc5200s for a few reasons
I stepped up port area as well as tuning
shrunk the box slightly and dropped the hieght as well for better airflow
also to accomidate for reactive load being somewhat high in the old box
obviously the lows don't murder the car anymore which is nice but the 40-50hz range is extremely painful to the ear.
The SQ aspects of the vehicle are gone with these woofers but I don't care becuase setting the car up for the mic instead of daily was a nice change.
putting two tc3000 12s in right now
...for the 149.9 class
c murder (song plays close to my loudest frequency)
-
yeah x2 on the lincoln. first time seeing it, and that thing surprised the hell outta me. very nice
thankyou
we have all spent countless hours in this vehicle and Jake has put a large amount of work in it

Try tuning one inch at a time nick. more then likely your frequency will stay the same (when tuning in most nowall vehicles I have noticed that the frequency is a bit more stiff to move (where as you can usually control it with a wall). You should see gain in your score though I can tell you that It cracks me up to know that your ride is still using stock port length. You still have tons of potentional to get louder. Def. tune one inch at a time if possible so you don't miss anything. I know it sucks with 6 ports but it will pay off when your .5 to a full db louder from proper tuning.

Took a vid in butler of my buddy nick bassracing

FUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK
my 1000 watt amp just caught on fire

hahahahhahahha
so I went to get me some mo! lmao
sounds like he needs to sand his ground...hahhahahahhahahah

close friend of mine runs two quad coil tc5200 on this at .7 ohms and its protect happy with good electrical
wouldn't advise .5 to anyone other then maybe a burp (even then you will be lucky to get away with a rollup if I had to guess)

currently selling
2 XX american bass 12's for $85 each (discontinued spun aluminum cones with larger surround)
I have 12s and 10s of these and they get very loud off little power
digital designs z1a 5000 watts amp $750 (no pics yet) amp in in great cosmetic condition
2 VFL2 loudspeakers (good for hanging with loud bass and staying clear off little power)
2 5.25 coaxels (75 for the pair)

depends on the car really... some windshields flex more than others
agreed
My windshield is at a pretty hard angle which sucks. After the deadening was adding and my power was more then doubled it did not seem to make much of a difference due to the power change. The frequency plays a big role in how quick a windshield breaks. If the vehicle is loud enough the 35-40hz range seems to do the most damage (it will all depend on the peaks of the vehicle and if the vehicle is playing through a box alone or is walled properly). Mosts vehicles windshields don't break from the SPL alone, most of the time its the glass moving past the soft points of its seal and smacking the metal framing it sits in.

thanks, thats good to know, and dasssalottaweight back der mang holy shiznit.
yea i am going to have to figure something out though because I found a way to fit at least four more kinetiks
-
hey bro Im getting ready to start Redbarons new project, and Im wondering if you have done anything to the rear suspension to handle all the wieght, that is my only concern with these lil cars.
love all the flex man keep doing your thang
No
I have just about replaced everything in the front though.
Rear is still original and going strong. I have to do a wheel bearing in the back though. Those bearings never like the constant weight in any vehicle. When I used to run three idmaxs in my other ride I went through back bearings fast.
Add up the weight of 5 kinetik 2400's,1 2000, 4 1800's, and a box thats around 400 pounds loaded. That has been in the car well over 2 years now.

Insane Vid, What kind of mids and highs for vocals are you running and amp wise? just curious what is keeping up with those 18"s
I am in the middle of my highs project in the vehicle right now
In just about all the videos I have public announcement speakers behind my seats to keep up (they stay clear and get ungodly loud but I am at a point where I don't have the room to keep them in) I also want something that is going to cover a wider range of frequencies. Right now I have decided on a couple of high output open backed loud speakers for the door but nothing too excessive because I can't stand heavy ass doors. More then likley some Seleniums from parts express along with a set of american bass SQ65Ms. I have been extremely impressed with both of these speakers in terms of output and clearity. I know they won't hang with my PA horns on output but it should be clearer.
do you have a regular version with the bass even throughout the songi cant do a slowed down version my woofer will die
I will upload the ones that I have. I don't have a balanced version though.
